Great location. Clean. Nice bar and lounge areas. Superb staff, especially bar/catering staff. Ellie should be commended for her amazingly calm and professional approach to a particularly disturbing incident on the night of 27.9. A woman had been badly beaten by her boyfriend and had her 10 month old baby with her. Ellie immediately took charge of ensuring the baby was safe and comfortable and her approach assisted to calm mother and other hotel guests in the vicinity. She really should be praised for her attitude and actions, especially when approached mid crisis by guests requesting she serve them at the bar! Her mother and aunt (sorry I cannot remember your names) were equally as friendly and sociable and really did help this solo traveller feel comfortable and welcome.
I was expecting the pool, steam and sauna area to be open - as had been advertised renovations would be complete by the 24th. Guests should have been informed prior to if not on checking in of this delay. It was the only negative I had re: my stay.

Outside and public areas all beautifully kept and styled to suit the eta it was built. It was impressive.
Reception was too slow. It was very inefficient. It took 40 minutes of queuing to be seen. Only two staff on duty. One receptionist, a middle aged person spent 10 minutes between each check in to sort through paperwork in front of a restless queue that stretched across the whole foyer. When we booked some months ago we asked for a room close to reception or lift for our friend who has poor mobility. He was allocated the furthest away room on third floor a long walk from the lift at the end of the corridor. The bathroom light was broken and the bathroom door didn’t close.

Beautiful old hotel great location close to bars and restraunts
The breakfast was lukewarm the bacon wasn’t cooked properly a lot of people were saying how awful it was other than that a good selection of food ,, they could do with more staff clearing away the tables I only saw one young girl doing it .

Exceptional value for money. Great location. Enjoyed the pool and leisure facilities. 3 course evening meal included was plentiful, tasty and offered reasonable choice. Breakfast was excellent. The Hotel had a nice friendly vibe. It is no longer the top class, luxury establishment it must have been in its heyday but if it was I wouldn't be able to afford to stay here so I am grateful for that.
My room was a bit jaded and dark with no view and the bathroom fittings were old and worn- but it was spacious and clean and the bed was comfortable so no real problems, just an observation. The staff were friendly, polite and obliging but did seem a bit short handed and pushed at times which impeded the service somewhat. I don't think they should charge residents for parking.

Area it is surrounded is a nice quiet village with plenty of green space around. Welcoming staff grand entrance hall and lobby. Comfortable beds and well sized rooms for price
Mould on the windows which to me was a bit off but can be sorted with mould protection paint and I good wipe down as I have had same issue in previous houses of mine.

The Palace Hotel is a beautiful hotel with a very impressive lobby. Our room was comfortable and we enjoyed our stay there. The bathroom was large and clean. Overall, we had a great time there.
There weren't enough power sockets in the room. It would have been nice to have sockets next to our bed so that we could charge up the phones while using them. Another thing we had an issue with was an unusually long queue at the check-in desk when we arrived and we had to queue exactly for 45 minutes to check in. If the hotel expected a bus full of customers, maybe they could have sent more staff members to deal with the queue.

We love this hotel and visit for long weekends three or four times a year. Have been regular visitors over last ten years and notice how it has been well refurbished over last couple of years. A lot of money has obviously been spent on renovating it. It is always warm in winter. welcoming, hard-working staff. It is extremely clean. Indoor pool, gym and spa facilities. Buxton is a delightful spa town with shops and good restaurants. We love the Georgian grandeur of The Crescent ( akin to that of Bath), the delightful park and Winter Gardens, the Victorian Opera House ( some great travelling performances put on here- ballets, dramas, music concerts, pantomimes etc). Definitely recommend this hotel. Great value for money. Hope to keep returning for many years to come.

Impressive decor, well situated, very clean and warm. We had a free room upgrade and the room was spacious with a comfortable bed and all listed amenities. The place looked in good decorative order throughout. Good value bed, breakfast and evening meal deal. Lots of space in the lobby and adjoining areas to sit down. Food for dinner and breakfast was good overall and buffet style breakfast worked well. Polite and friendly staff. Easy walk into town.
Queue at reception when signing in. Only one person on duty so we waited half an hour.. Service at evening meal was slow. Two polite young people on duty with no great sense of urgency and a slow kitchen. Staff in restaurant need to be trained to interact with guests more proactively eg offer wine list without having to be asked. However, food was good when it arrived. No bedside lamp on one side of the bed.

The relaxed and welcoming feel when entering the hotel. The hotel was very clean. On entering the room, we were very pleased with the space and what was in the room. The evening meal was exceptional. The gravy.........I can't even begin to describe how scrumptious that was.
One of the only things we didn't like was the breakfast. It felt like a bit of a let down from the rest of the stay. The quality of the food seemed worlds apart from the evening meal. Cold meat from the Continental part of breakfast had flies landing on it, when informing a member of staff, their response was, "oh right". The jams had the lid open and no idea how long it was like that. There were no obvious way of getting the jam out as no utensils nearby. The hot chocolate from the machine was exceptionally watery.

The Palace hotel is a magnificent stately hotel, well worth a visit. The grounds and surrounding area are so well maintained. The room was nice and comfortable. Spectacularly clean . The rooms have hot beverages , water, mini fridge ,plenty of towels, and even comes with some toiletries.
A couple checked in before us, and paid £50 less than our booking. We made an online booking for a standard room. The food was over priced and over cooked. After 45 minutes I had to ask three times when the food would arrive. This was a bar meal. Two burgers, cooked but poor quality. The cost of the burgers £34. For breakfast there were plenty of choices, including cereals, breads , cakes and a hot buffet. Down side , some of the hot breakfast food was overcooked and difficult to eat.
