Our room was excellent, very spacious and contained everything we wanted. The foyer, lounge and bar were very comfortable. The quality was a very good standard.

We booked dinner in the restaurant on the first evening and there was very little atmosphere as it was virtually empty. The food was disappointing, particularly my husband’s steak. He requested a ribeye but the waitress advised that he couldn’t have it medium rare - only rare or well done. Therefore he ordered rump steak but this was disappointing as it was so thin. This was a special birthday meal so not what we expected. However the waitress adjusted the bill to reflect this

The hotel was a perfect location and we were thrilled when we received a free from upgrade. The room was amazing and we were so grateful. There was nothing to complain about in relation to the room, I love the fact that they have tried to keep an authentic look with the period of the property too.

It would have been better if we could have the option to pre book parking. This would reduce stress knowing where to park but maybe suggest some long stay car parks in the area on the website. The breakfast was average. I ordered the French toast and it was very much eggy bread and with the option to have it with back and maple syrup or fruit compote and yogurt, I went for the fruit but wish I had the bacon as bread, egg and fruit doesn’t really go.

staff are excellent and made the stay very good indeed - the hotel is well laid out, has a great restaurant, a good bar and outside seating in the patio area - the rooms are of good quality with nice touches such as a bath in the room itself plus a separate toilet and shower room, quality toiletries, chocolates, a great range of in-room beverages, towels and face cloths are good quality, crisp white bedding, bathrobes, the breakfast is excellent with a wide range of choice and are served to the table, the evening meal was excellent quality, a great selection of wines and drinks served by really personable staff who made our stay, location really good a couple of streets away from the centre so easy to walk to.

The outstanding thing that characterised our visit was the extremely friendly and courteous welcome we got. The particular member of staff was very helpful throughout our stay and if nothing else was right, this alone made it a pleasant stay. The room was excellent, we had an upgrade because my wife had recently had hip surgery and the room originally allocated on the 4th floor (lift to first only) would have been impossible. We will return, the general feel of the place is that it is well designed, if slightly pretentious, rooms are great. Service V.Good, I hope they are well paid, without them it would not survive.

We booked lunch in the Bistro with two guests, ours was the only table occupied. the service was good, but the Menu was not at all what one might expecting a Hotel of this standard, we would have been better of in choosing any pub in Cheltenham at random. It was extremely overpriced and of unexceptional quality. I can understand that there was no other custom, but it will fail if this is the norm. The dining room is a lovely space and we enjoyed the company and the service, but the food not so much! The breakfast offering was scant, we were after the early rush of corporate guests, but we were able to ask for items from the kitchen not listed on the card.

Stayed in one of the suites and the room was beautiful, staff at breakfast were very friendly, staff at reception were helpful

it was 25+ degrees outside and the underfloor heating was on high in our bathroom! Absolute sauna. We called reception and the person who came found the thermostat high on the wall behind the wardrobe - he was too high to reach it so he had to ask my boyfriend to stand on a chair to turn it off. Not ideal when spending over £250 a night

great location , very peaceful and quiet ( our room was at the rear) nice staff all round , given a brolly as rain started just as we were heading out , nice touch!

too many stairs and corridors for me , but unavoidable when old buildings are linked together. breakfast slightly expensive ( room service was less expensive it seems , think that was odd) though still very nice hotel some areas starting to show their age and need to be addressed

Our `room` (understatement!) De Trafford was one of the largest I have ever stayed in, anywhere. A luxurious `signature suite` with high ceilings, large four-poster bed, separate room incl. WC and his and hers sinks, separate huge shower and also a (sadly under-used) separate lounge area. Friendly reception team and guided to alternative parking area. Hotel is located 10 mins walk from main town / high street and in a quiet residential street. Good sized bar area although only central seating area had soft sofas and chairs.

Breakfast service seemed a bit hit and miss. Staff appeared stretched and at at times, a little stressed. Once seated, felt a little forgotten, with no menu provided (and some items on the menu werent available), no condiments on table and the (same) breakfast ordered each morning was different on each day. Needs refining, although quality of food was very good.

The hotel was just beautiful, all staff friendly and approachable. Our room was more than I expected. All the facilities were provided (hairdryer/kettle with tea/coffee, robe & slippers & separate coffee machine) they have thought of everything. The breakfast was also very good. Will definitely be returning with friends for a cheaky little getaway.

The car parking area out the front was a little too small, not many spaces. This was our first visit, unsure of the area.

fantastic location excellent reception staff beautiful room

the shower gel/body wash dispenser was complete empty in the shower. I had to leave the shower whilst wet to find some on a bath in the room. I had to ask for toilet roll in the morning as it had already run out even though I had been out all evening. no spare in the room. The bar man took 10 minutes to take any notice of us at the bar while he taught another bar member how to make a cocktail. It would have been polite if he had acknowledged us and told us he would be a while. we kept thinking he would serve us but their discussion about different drinks continued.

The location was very good.

Unfortunately, the menu in the dining room seemed rather limited and the dining room was quiet and lacked atmosphere despite the fact I’d received several emails advising me to book dinner well ahead as the restaurant got very busy! The staff were helpful however and did their best. We have stayed in other Hotel du Vins and have found the restaurants to be very good and hopefully this one will soon be as good.
