Lovely welcome to us and 2 dogs. Room was good and super bathroom . Clean room and lovely comfy bed and a bed each for dogs and treat box each. Bathroom is great size and character room. Good size and had sitting area so we could watch tv and snack supper from local supermarket. Bed was huge and so comfortable and crisp sheets .

Wooden floors would feel cleaner than corded carpet in room . Lady on reception when we left could have been friendlier as such a contrast to super friendly and welcoming lady when we arrived .

The George is centrally located and very handy for the whole of Cheltenham. It's a comfortable hotel and some effort has gone into both styling and ensuring a high quality of beds and internal fittings. Breakfast is good, if a bit expensive.

Central location means awkward parking. The hotel is built from a number of houses knocked together, which makes rooms awkwardly small for what's in them (two cases in a Queen room would have been a challenge) and I found it both rather hot and rather noisy overnight. I was surprised to not find a bar; checking through the literature says there's one nearby, though.

Friendly, helpful reception staff. Well prepared delicious hot breakfast choices. Continental choices abundant, tasty and kept very neat. Comfortable bed, quiet, nice selection of books in room. Lovely crystal glasses in rooms. Very convenient to buses and a short bus ride to train or 20 min walk.

I didn’t mind climbing the stairs but staying on the top floor requires exertion. Room fine for one person but no room for a desk separate from the kettle/water bottle etc. so if you’re more than one person, ask about an upgrade. These are not things that bothered me. I only wish there were ice machines on at least some of the floors.

The pillows were great and the bed was very comfortable and the room had character, which we liked. The bathroom was lovely with a spacious shower and all the necessary toileteries. The breakfast was superb. I had continental and my son and daughter had something from the cooked menu all delicious the hostess who was on durty was friendly and efficient. Parking lot right across from hotel which makes life easy.

The fact that one of the rooms looked onto a fire escape and the other also was not a pretty outlook, but I suppose the location does not allow for a pretty garden or some plants in pots. I suppose one can't have everything.

The location was absolutely fantastic - smack in the middle of Montpellier and Brewery Quarter, 10 min leisurely walk in each direction. The hotel was decorated lovely, with a warm welcome on reception. The room (Superior King) was lovely - great size with a "grand" feeling due to high ceilings and (double) high windows, with a lovely bathroom (his and hers sinks and a 2-person walk-in shower). Really good value for money!

Only a couple of minor things... The carpets were a little tired. Not enough tea bags 🤣 (only 2 breakfast, so had to resort to Earl Grey) and no biscuits. But honestly, so minor, not even worth mentioning!!

Great quality continental breakfast included with our booking - freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh baked croissants/pastries, delicious pots of overnight oats and homemade granola, fresh fruit, fancy tea bags and decent coffee. Beds were very comfortable with large feather pillows. Wifi in the room was super quick. We had access to Netflix/iplayer/prime etc on the wide screen telly. A view from room 46 of a church spire and hills beyond Cheltenham. Stylish rooms and feel to the place, but if you don’t like a dark decor, this is probably not the hotel for you. Montpellier was on our doorstep with all its wonderful cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques.

Great location, lovely decor and bathroom, extremely comfortable bed was like being in a cloud. Friendly guy there and cute dogs.

Slight improvement would be a tidy up of the wall outside the window. Was on lower ground floor which I liked, and didn’t mind that I was looking out at a wall, the private nature to it was good and I was just happy I could open the windows a little unlike the last 3 places I’ve stayed in. Hot tap was like lava from almost as soon as you turn it on, so I didn’t just dunk my head in it. That would have been silly.

We were visiting Cheltenham for the Literary Festival and the location was perfect. The hotel looked like a boutique hotel and was very nice (although it felt a bit corporate)

There was no useful shelving in the bathroom for my own toiletries. A partly blocked drain meant water from the shower flooded across the bathroom floor. The aircon control was broken and it had to be completely turned off to stop air blowing onto the bed all night. The ground floor sash window wasn't locked, which I luckily spotted before I went to bed.

Exceptional hotel. I felt at home as soon as I stepped into the foyer and was greeted by a young lady on reception. The room was immaculate and very comfortable. I was able to iron my shirt, swiftly thane to the decent iron and board. The hairdryer was equal in quality. I slept like the proverbial section of tree. I encountered 4 different staff members during my short stay, and every single one was not only professional & polite, but genuinely happy, and took pride in looking after the guests.The towels were spring fresh, provided cleansing potions smelt lovely and the most important, the shower was awesome. Easily adjustable temperature and excellent pressure. I had scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast and they were...magical! The best I've had in years. On departure, a friendly young man assisted my checkout. We had a brief conversation while I waited for a taxi, and had In not had to leave could have easily talked to him all day. I've had to stay in a hotel a few times already this year, and The George stands head and shoulders above the others. I dont know if Ryan Reynolds stays here or not, but he probably should do. I shall return.

The bone shaped chocolate biscuits in a jar marked " help yourself" at reception - avoid. Pick the Fig cookie ones, much nicer. Especially with a snifter of port.

Loved the unexpected special touches such as jar of jelly beans in the room, 24/7 complimentary freshly ground coffee, cookies at reception, upscale décor throughout... they don't all cost the Earth but add up all the little things and it elevates the experience. Staff are great. My room was exceptionally comfortable, with a great tea & coffee selection and very nice glassware, toiletries and bedding. Even the information booklet was a good read!

The air-conditioning unit made an irritating gurgling/trickling noise throughout the night, it became white noise in the end but off-putting!
