The house is beautiful and James was very hospitable and friendly. The room was spectacular and we loved how comfortable everything felt. Breakfast was amazing, every morning there was a line up of fresh breads, jams, cereal and drinks prepared along with a hot breakfast. James offered assistance with recommending restaurants and was always accommodating. Ballymote is a stunning historic home that is perfectly situated near a variety of places we could visit and made the ideal base for our Northern Ireland trip.

The hospitality and welcome were excellent. Our host was gracious and made us feel at home with tea in the drawing room and homemade shortbread and interesting conversation .The breakfast continued this high standard with a perfect breakfast with huge platter of cooked options accompanied by an array of cereals and homemade preserves and compote. We were hugely impressed. The location is also very special within the lovely Co. Down landscape of rolling hills . The exuberant family dogs were a highlight for us!

What a unique property. You are staying in a real family home and you are treated like old friends not guests. Comfortable, well equipped and three gorgeous dogs! What else could you want? Apart from a delicious breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade bread, museli and jams - we got that too.

Where do I start? From the lovely welcome at the front door, the bed which moulded right into you, with such astounding comfort, the delicious breakfast; astounding surroundings and charming, genuine company. If you get a chance, get down there. It is beyond words!

Very comfortable bed in spacious elegant room. Quiet location. Interesting and friendly hosts with a wealth of knowledge about the area and all manner of things. Exceptional breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice and nectarine compote with creamy yogurt being highlights. Enjoyed the chats we had: motorcycles, the army, local history, politics…could have gone on!

The house and decor was very fitting to the overall experience of staying in a Country House. The three little Terrier Dogs offered great comfort,once they got to know that you will staying as Guests in their House.🙂🙂

We had an excellent stay at the Ballymote Country House. The owners are extremely helpful and accommodating - nothing is too much trouble. The place was spotlessly clean & tidy. Our room was very comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was top class and plentliful. thank you.

Loved it all- fabulous hosts-great chats-the old Manor house and all its quirkiness . Tea and homemade shortbread was very welcome on arrival and James very helpful in booking us a table at a local restaurant for that evening. . Huge bedroom with everything you need and more and so many little extra touches. Great to actually have fresh milk! Both myself and Hubby had a great nights sleep in high quality bedding and big comfy bed. Breakfast was beautiful- homemade poached nectarines were the star for me ! As animal lovers we found the dogs too cute but only if you want them do they oblige. Will absolutely be back for both Ballymote and the the lovely area in which it is set. Thank you Nicola and James for looking after us so well.

Everything was better than could be expected. Handy main road location in a lovely house in it's own grounds. James & Nicola are great hosts, breakfast was superb and they went the extra mile for us.
