The room was clean & spacious as was the ensuite bathroom. Julie & Chris were excellent hosts, welcoming and friendly and the breakfast was just so delicious 😋😋😋 & copious with plenty of choice.

Nothing, everything was great for me. Maybe being allowed to stay till 11am rather than 10am on departure would mean less of a rush in the last morning.

We had an excellent stay at the Southgate. The rooms were beautiful and the family room was enormous! The owners were friendly and helpful and everything was clean and super comfortable.

The only criticism I have is that we did not notice the signs telling us we could not bring in our own food so these could do with being more prominent. With this in mind, I would suggest to anyone visiting the property that they make sure they have made arrangements to eat out.

The building was attractive and quaint, with a lovely lounge and comfortable furnishings. Like many old English buildings, the stairs were small and the bathroom small too--but quite useable nonetheless. Our room was very comfortable, quiet, cozy, and welcoming. Our room overlooked the main street of the village! The hosts were quite hospitable and made a wonderful English breakfast the next morning. Good job Chris and Julie!

The owners were wonderful and friendly. Their B&B was very clean and cosy. We really enjoyed their cooked breakfast in a very specious dining area. Our little girl enjoyed watching one of the children movies in the evening from their DVD library - such a fab idea! Great B&B! Our stay was superb and the location was perfect for attending the Filey kite festival over the weekend.

It was a quick off the cuff booking but we went away quietly impressed and the southgate is firmly lodged in the memory bank for future visits to this neck of the woods ...Chris was welcoming on our arrival and gave us great local knowledge...

Nothing at all really .. If I'm nit picking maybe firmer pillows but I've had spinal ops twice so I'm biased for me and I sleep wiered lol

Many years since we've stayed in a B & B and The Southgate didn't disappoint. We arrived mid afternoon and were greeted by both Julie & Chris and after introducing themselves asked what we would like for breakfast the following day. We we're shown to our room which was exceptionally clean and nicely decorated. We had a comfortable two night stay and would not hesitate to recommend The Southgate to anyone staying in the Filey area. 10/10

The breakfast was very good and the location was very handy for pubs and local shops. We used the co-op in the village which was close by. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and the bedroom had a excellent shower room.

The room was very small so no room for an easy chair which would have been nice. There was no outside space to sit in the sun.

The breakfast offering was very good indeed. Well cooked and hot. The whole place is spotless. Staff are very friendly indeed. Comfortable good quality bed. Powerful spacious shower which was a pleasure to use.

The bedroom could have done with heavier curtains or a blackout blind. We couldn’t make it dark enough to sleep well with street lights over the road. It was a hot day when you only really need a sheet so a thick duvet is all or nothing. Bathroom very tight for space.

Chris and Julie were very friendly and let us check in a little earlier as we had a wedding reception to attend. The rooms were lovely and the beds very comfortable.

We were at a wedding so only really used the room for a short period of time. We would've liked to stay a little bit longer and make more use of the facilities.

An extremely friendly welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Bedroom spotless and modern. Breakfast brilliant. Loved the concept of an honesty bar which was absolutely reasonable and we used it to end our day with a bottle of wine with our friends. Would highly recommend to families and couples alike
