The location of the Ship Inn is as central as can be and the staff were absolutely great! They definitely made me feel welcome and nobody seemed to be "just working here". Breakfast was delicious and made to order for each guest - so fresh-off-the-pan bacon and eggs, full English, continental - whatever you'd like! I also tried the pub menu for dinner once and that was great as well. The pub seemed to be popular with locals, which is always a good sign.

Ventilation in the room was slightly insufficient in the Summer heat, however a powerful fan was provided which did help. Also, being an old property (which definitely adds to its charm) there are steep and narrow stairs leading to the rooms; not an issue for myself but could be for someone with limited mobility.

This is an excellent place to stay - the staff were welcoming and the Full English Breakfast was the best I've had since forever. The restaurant offered superb food choices, although we were invited out to dinner with friends so missed out (hopefully next time we'll eat here in the evening). The room was bright and very roomy - much larger than I was expecting, in fact. The bed was cosy and comfortable and I slept really well, as did my wife. Special mentions to Ann and Sylvia for their exceptional customer service - they could not have been more helpful and friendly and made our stay a pleasure.

If I had to pick out a minor niggle, the car parking in the main car park adjacent to the inn itself was often busy, but we managed.

Good size room and bathroom. Welcomed on arrival and given information about our stay. Breakfast really good. Were expecting Continental breakfast only but were offered anything we wanted from a full breakfast. Brought extra clean towels and coffee, cups, water bottles, etc as we were in our room all morning getting ready for a wedding so they were unable to clean the room during this time which was really appreciated and a nice touch.

Nothing!

Staff were amazing, so friendly and welcoming. Room decor ...different....red carpet, purple and gold walls, quite small, but very clean and comfortable, tea and coffee making facilities. TV could have been better placed as got a crick in my neck watching it! The pub itself was lovely and the food was second to none, we chose from the specials board and it was honestly the best pub food I have ever had....all down to Sywia I believe! Breakfast was just as good. Portion sizes were great!

The only criticism was parking. You had to stay in the pay and display public car park, even though the pub had its own private car park, which was apparently too small for the guests to park in....however the pub only had 4 guest rooms, so I think parking would have been fine for the size of the car park.

Our host Sylwia was very lovely as we're the rest of the staff. It is an old Inn that is very comfortable and clean. Food was great too. There is a lovely park/play area for all the family on the banks of the river.

For me the only downside was having to remember to go and pay for parking first thing in the morning, the car park is behind and accessible from the ship inn, and free from 6pm to 8am.

The room we had was a brilliant size. We had a lounge area, huge wardrobe and bed, a big TV and an ensuite with bath. Tea and coffee making facilities with plenty of choice and biscuits We were worried that it may be noisy as the lorry traffic travelling through the highstreet could be heard when we arrived in the room. At night it was not at all and was very quite. The bed was very comfy and the side tables had plug cubes with usb ports too so very handy for phone etc charging. The toilet was a little loud when flushed as a sanisystem however the wall poster about flushables made me giggle! Our stay included breakfast which was a choice of continental or Full English/ adjusted to taste with cereal and toast with spreads also available. We ate in the pub before staying and had a good meal and drinks which were good value. We only stayed 1 night but would recommend to others for longer and ourselves if we return again. The Ship we found to be a friendly with both staff and the locals to be welcoming its in the centre of village. There are a number of other pubs and restaurants nearby to try too although The Ship was, we felt the nicest and most friendly. Also it had the best food compared to other pubs even if the view is not as pretty as one of the others we visited. There is a huge car park that spans across the back of most of the shops and allows parking directly behind The Ship.

Its an old building so the staircase is tight and pretty steep so if you are not able to use stairs this is not the place for you! Otherwise is fab!

Room 2 was a nice big room. Veggie breakfast was quite good, veggie sausages were really good. The staff were exceptional, this was the second time we've stayed and the staff are superb. Bottled water and tea/ coffee in the room was good.

Would have liked yoghurt at breakfast - breakfast choice was limited; perhaps a menu of options other than full English or Veggie. We had an evening meal which was good except for the pudding (cheesecake and sundae) which was disappointing and not worth the money. Beer choice better the last time we stayed. Parking a nuisance as have to go out before 8am to put a ticket on the car in the public car park behind The Ship.

Our second time of staying at the Ship Inn on holiday. Very central and Breakfast in the morning is amazing, you can have what ever you want. The rooms have all the condiments you need from tea/coffee facilities, biscuits, bottled water, soap shampoo etc and Brochures with maps in. The staff are very welcoming .

I'd say the pay car park at the back of the Ship to leave your car, if anything.

From our arrival to our departure all the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an excellent evening meal and a superb full English the following morning (possibly the best we've had in years!). Paid parking at the rear of the premises was handy (free from 6pm to 8am), but beware, there was a Traffic Warden checking for tickets on the Sunday morning!!! Fortunately we had purchased our ticket (£3.00) the previous evening on advice from the staff. Overall an excellent stay. We are now looking for an excuse to return.

Having to leave the next day!!!!
