Beautiful hotel very nicely decorated. Food was delicious, a good cooked breakfast selection. The staff were very helpful and welcoming.

No parking was available (all spaces taken) so we had to park in a council carpark a short distance away which worked fine and was free overnight but you had to pay from 8 am. The app wasn't working, nor the card machine which left us looking around for change. In the end we could street park for free but this meant having to move the car again. Weather was very very hot no air con in rooms. Although it was cooler outside at night because of the very heavy drapes and only one window available to open, we did bake over night. One small fan was appreciated didn't make much difference unfortunately. Could blinds be put up for privacy which would perhaps improve the air flow?

The whole hotel had beautiful and tasteful furnishings. My room was lovely and I really liked the toiletries provided. The lounge, bar and restaurant were very comfortable and the staff went over and above with great customer service, always pleasant and friendly and professional. Special mention goes to Ailisha, the manager on duty on my first afternoon, and the lady in reception who had to move to the bar, who were short-staffed and both worked tirelessly as well as doing many check-ins, dealing with impatient customers and cleaning up the table and floor after a very messy large family who were eating before going to the fair. Throughout all of that afternoon and into the evening they continued to be as pleasant as ever, didn't have a break, just carried on smiling and being really lovely

A box of tissues in the room would have been a nice touch The stairs and landings needed vacuuming for the four days I was there

All of the staff were very attentive and welcoming. The room that we eventually got (room 301, on the ground floor) was excellent, very spacious with a "super king" bed. Dinner was very good indeed.

We chose this hotel (over others available nearby) because Booking.com's website showed that a "Double Room" offered "1 large double bed". On arrival we were allocated to room 104, which was very small and could cope with only a standard 4'6" bed. The General Manager was asked to deal with my complaint and she did so extremely well, by moving us to another room (despite being fully booked). BUT she explained that some of their standard double rooms do NOT have a large double bed, so Booking.com's website is inaccurate!!! The dining area was rather noisy, primarily because of a loud group of younger people using the bar facility. My wife could not eat her poached eggs at breakfast, because they were under-cooked. Again, the waitress was very apologetic and offered alternatives.

The room was lovely, very fun little accessories and decor. The breakfast was included in the room and was lovely - you choose a main and then you can have toast, condiments and cereals with tea and coffee. The location was right on Godalming high street, opposite Cotê's and really convenient to get around.

They didn't have a manager on at the time but the person they had to cover was really good. He didn't know too much about where things were but he tried his best! The bar was very quiet and we were going to stay for dinner on the Saturday (food looked good!), but there was only 1 other table dining. Godalming is quiet however, so it isn't a surprise restaurants and hotels aren't all that packed.

The visit to Godalming was to meet up with a friend from overseas. It is a lovely town with plenty of charm, good shops and restaurants. The Kings Arms & Royal Hotel was perfectly placed, about 10 minutes walk from the station and easy access to/from main roads if travelling by car. The room was extremely comfortable, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean throughout with a very comfortable bed. Included in the room were facilities for making tea/coffee, also, hot chocolate, biscuits and mineral water supplied along with complimentary toiletries, iron, hairdrier, hand and bath towels. The general manager deserves a special mention, from the welcome received upon arrival to dealing with all enquiries throughout the stay, with thoughtful consideration and always with a smile and good cheer, in fact, all the staff in the hotel were most polite and helpful, working as a team. The breakfast menu is excellant with plenty of variety, caters for vegans/vegetarians, great food to start the day. I can honestly say I've never given top marks before on a review but the Kings Arms & Royal definitely deserves a recommendation for anyone wanting a comfortable room and facilities with great hospitality, which is exactly what I've enjoyed during my stay.

There isn't anything that I didn't like.

Communication from the Hotel was excellent, a friendly greeting on arrival, a lovely room with plenty of space for our needs, found the bed a little hard initially but soon got used to it and slept quite well. There was no milk for our morning cup of tea, but we didn't mind as I found the cup of black tea quite refreshing, and the situation was quickly rectified when we mentioned it. The breakfast was superb, but I will have a smaller one next time, as I am not much of a morning eater and couldn't manage anything else all day! Overall an excellent experience and we would wholeheartedly recommend the Kings arms to anyone wanting a second to none, value for money place to stay.

The room was too hot when we went in, but turned off the radiator and opened the windows and that was cured. Perhaps you can offer two sizes of full English breakfast, I suspect most will go for the larger one, but I personally would be happy with a smaller portion. It would not cost anything to implement, but over the year could render some savings on your food costs.

history of it all and the tasteful refurbishment

old establishment three or more centuries of existence so unable to fit a lift in. therefore only step narrow staircase which was very difficult to navigate. the one room on the ground floor was already booked. the differing levels of the actual floors upstairs was difficult for us.. However, we are older generation in our eighties so our fault and no one else’s. our stay was gtreat the manager and staff wonderful so big thanks to them all.

The location is in the central area, many shops and restaurants around, and the bar on the ground floor is very nice. The front desk staff is very friendly. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the beds are comfortable! Furthermore, there are lots of coffee, tea bags and biscuits are provided. The breakfast is very hearty! And as soon as I walked into the room, there was classical music playing on the radio. It was a very comfortable atmosphere. In addition, the bar staff noticed we couldn't book a taxi, so he called a taxi for my friend. Thank you very much :-D

Maybe a coat hanger or closet should be added to the room :-D

The ambiance of the hotel , smiles from all the staff . Good service . The hotel is managed in a professional manner without losing the friendliness from the staff. Everone was willing to assist in a tentative manner. I will definitely stay again on my next trip to the UK.

Noise from people in the street passing the hotel late in the evening .screaming and shouting profanities. No fault of the hotel but I needed to mention this point.

I chose this hotel because of its historic connections with Peter the Great and because I had dined there successfully many years ago. I knew I would have sumptuous accommodation and delicious food, and I was absolutely right! The Victoria and Albert suite was spacious and luxurious without being over-priced. My roast chicken lunch on the Sunday was delicious and I retired to the Czar Lounge for a drink afterwards in beautiful surroundings. The hotel is well-sited on the high street for all of Godalming's amenities such as shops, pubs, church and park.

The gravy was a little thin and tasteless, which I reported to the serving staff and they promised to mention it to the chef, but the rest of the meal was so good, ultimately I did not mind too much. The people on the next-door table at lunch were a little over-enthusiastic in celebrating a birthday, but this was hardly the hotel's fault and it was easy for me to move to the lounge with my drink.
