I loved the location which made it easy to get to the places I wanted to visit: Waverley Abbey Trust and Watts Artist Village (Compton). The food was great, they do have big portions and the breakfast really gets you ready for the day. It's so wonderful to eat real 'eggy eggs'! Sounds strange but they are delicious. The room for a single traveller was quaint, and I liked the eco friendly botanical products in the room.

Bed was a bit too soft for me but that's just a personal preference, also there was a humming machinery noise which seemed to be constant, wasn't too loud and annoying to stop me from sleeping. Just a mild irritation to an otherwise perfect stay.

Really accessible location from the A3 by car. Beautiful spot right next to the river. Tastefully decorated pub with big outside seating area that is stunning. Evening meal was delicious - every course was tasty. It was a relaxed atmosphere with very friendly and welcoming staff. Room was beautifully decorated and equipped - if a little small. We are too big for a double bed! None the less, we slept really well and had a great time. Breakfast was so tasty with lovely ingredients. Cooked breakfast may have felt a little small but after a big meal the night before it didn't matter. I thought it was great value for money and a beautiful bolt hole for a night away.

We loved everything about our stay. If I were to pick up on anything it would be that the cooked breakfast was a little small. There was only 1 slice of bacon, 1 sausage and a very small cup of beans (in addition to tomato, mushroom, fried bread, egg, black pud!). But we were stuffed from the night before so it didn't matter! And it was delicious. This is a great place to stay for an overnight/weekend getaway.

It is a great pleasure to stay in the stag. The stuff are so kind and friendly. The bed is very clean and comfy. I love the pillows here (normally I would bring my own pillow).. The room is nice and quiet. Shower is warm and water pressure is very good. Exquisite decoration everywhere. Plenty of parking space. Oh yeah the meals are excellent. I have to keep on asking for the recipie as they tasted so good. We arrived quite late and the stuff waited for us till 11. Every one in the stag is really lovely. They gave us a very good impression of Guildford and I would say we probably would love to move down to Surrey now 😀 I would recommend it to every one

Booking.com bargain! Excellent value room, especially after Genius discount plus mobile discount. Tastefully decorated to a high standard with multiple facilities available within the room - has everything you need and nothing you don't, lovely hot shower too. Initially on arriving in the evening, thought you might be able to hear noise from the pub downstairs, but no noise, really well sound-proofed or maybe room is further away from the pub area, then at night when it is very quiet, you can hear the wonderful gentle rushing of the running River Wey! Lovely breakfast too! Highly recommend staying here!

Everything has been thought out well, here. The bed and pillows are comfortable. The decor is nice. The bathroom is clean and everything works properly. Good quality bath robes are provided. The heating was easy to control (we had a winter stay). The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was nice. Breakfast is generous. This is a place that extends genuine hospitality and it seems this is getting more and more difficult to find in UK.

The windows are single glazed so in the morning the window was running with condensation. Having said that the windows were cleaned each day when the room was refreshed.

Food was amazing, really top notch! The room was really cosy and the bed and shower both so comfortable. The staff was also pretty helpful and kind. Would definitely stay there again and have already recommended the restaurant to people that live in the area.

Everything was seamless except the wi-fi connection. I had no mobile reception either so was quite reliant on Wi-fi which did not suit my workload. Would not have bothered though if were staying there for pleasure.

The property was easy to find from the A3 and yet appears to be 'in the middle of nowhere'. We easily found space to park the car in the carpark and the space was visible from our room. Good outdoor seating either close to the pub or next to the river. Very friendly, helpful and professional welcome and great service throughout our stay.

Difficult to find anything that needed to be improved! The fire doors to the rooms had self-closing springs that are stronger than needed and so not so easy to open the door if holding something or not particularly strong.

Comfortable room, compact but well equipped. Good quality bed linen. Coffee machine, tea making facilities with fresh milk in shared fridge. Bathrobe, Bramble products, excellent shower Well situated by the river with plenty of outdoor tables. Good food and walks from the doorstep Would definitely stay again

Proper hangers would be an improvement instead of ones you have to fight with to release. An extra wall mounted mirror in the bathroom to apply make up would also be useful

Very quiet location The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent We will definitely be staying again and would certainly recommend it We didn’t eat in the restaurant as were going to visit family near by but if the breakfast is anything to go on ‘you won’t’ be disappointed!

Our room was a little on the small side, but we were traveling with our dog ‘bill’ a Portuguese water dog so the lovely luxury dog cushion provided was a nice touch but unfortunately he was too big for it We understand through other rooms are bigger so we would definitely ask for that next time
