Oh every so often you get an absolute gem on BOOKING. com. THIS is one of them. With the exception of the signage couldn't find fault. The little extras make a BIG difference. Hope to be back again sometime for a longer stay. If you live local to this place give yourselves a treat & book in , you won't be disappointed. Could continue with pages about how good the staff were, the excellent food ( dinner & breakfast! ) the superb local real ales . Then we come to the surroundings. The location, by the river. Inside the restaurant very relaxed, but busy & efficiently run, nice furniture & clientele. The bedrooms were superb & well appointed with quality fittings & linen etc. Really is first class and unbelievable value for money.

The ONLY fault is the lack of decent, illuminated signage. Maybe some local restrictions, I don't know, but arriving at nighttime we did experience difficulties locating the property ( behind the Abbey Hill ).

Beautifully located, car park is a little tight but understandable based on location. The pub is a lovely styled place to eat, drink and stay, the room was cosy and peaceful and the pub matched this with the same relaxed countryside warmth and welcome. All staff were welcoming, friendly and were really helpful and easy to talk with, presenting that 'at home' feel.

Be nice to look at package deals, the breakfast setup was good and impressed with the service and appreciated this already in the price but would be helpful when staying for work if there was a package cost including dinner as the room rate is pricey for around the area.

The old English quirkiness, but at the same time modern conveniences . The staff were helpful and friendly without being obsequious. The food was exceptionally good although the menu could have been extended. We had an excellence lunch and evening meal, the ham and chicken pie was delicious. The out side dining room next to the river was the perfect spot for supper.

At times it was difficult to access the internet. The menu Ineeds to be redesigned with a larger font.

Absolutely lovely pub/hotel, the room Brook was quirky with old beams & floor, it was clean & roomy but cosy, comfy bed with extra winter blanket & cushions, tea & coffee as standard, the small modern shower room was nice with a really good shower. Had an evening meal downstairs with was lovely (fish & chips & the rissotto) & the staff throughout our stay were all lovely & helpful. It is also a lovely location by the river & a nice size car park for guests...breakfast options were hot or cold & again was nice with lovely staff. We would definitely stay again if it was about the same price we paid (out of primary season) including breakfast

Only a small detail there was a slight draught around a window because it was an old style window that needed to open & a minor issue with the radiator but we pointed this out to staff who said they would address it...no drama.

The rooms are clean, well kept and you have everything you need. The room was modern but in keeping with the pub feel.

The only downside was the room was at the front of the pub overlooking the smoking area. We like to sleep with the window open which meant we had the smell of smoke in the room. The people smoking were sat outside for a good few hours making noise. This meant continued smoking rather than someone popping out for the odd cigarettes and for noise continued until after 11pm. The roast dinner wasn’t worth the £49 for two. The beef was fatty and the potatoes certainly weren’t crispy. The Yorkshire pudding was fabulous though.

Excellent room - comfy bed, lots of little extras like a bottle of local beer to share, a coffee machine and interesting selection of teas. Huge towels, excellent shower, good bathroom amenities (espa). Lovely pub with excellent food in the evening. Really friendly engaging staff. Fantastic breakfast with fruit (blueberries/strawberries/watermelon) and yoghurt available, croissants and great selection of freshly prepared cooked breakfasts (eggs royale with smoked salmon was delicious). Vegetarian options available also for breakfast. Excellent coffee too.

Absolutely nothing! It was fabulous!

Location was excellent for visiting our relations in Milford Heath and setting was idyllic.

Stairs going up to our room which was the Brook Room, very treacherous for an elderly couple in particular my husband who is suffering from vascular dementia and his legs give way some times so was very precarious and I had to be with him. A downstairs room would have been preferable but we were only there for one evening.

Friendly reception staff that showed us to the room. Good facilities in the room. Nice bed but tilted. Clean and tidy room.

The pub is old (which we liked) but the whole room was on a slant. Things would slide off tables. It woudl help if wedges were available or inplace to rectify the slant - especially the bed. Minimal space for suitcase - too many cushions on bed - where to put them when sleeping.

It was easy to find and there was parking on site. The room was lovely and warm and clean. The Hoggs Back beer and bottled water was appreciated. We were able to order breakfast off the menu rather than a buffet style breakfast. It was of good quality and very tasty. The service was very good. We enjoyed the log fire in the bar and at breakfast. We had a lovely walk along the river to Godalming where we were able to shop and have lunch. A very relaxing and enjoyable night away.

Fabulous room with superb shower and very comfortable bed. Loved the coffee machine and coffee provided as well as the ale thank you.

Would have preferred to have USB points to charge phone etc - there was an abundance of 3 point sockets so this could have easily been solved. Also the full English was excellent unfortunately the scrambled eggs were overcooked
