We really liked the neighborhood. Everyone was very friendly. It was out of the hustle and bustle of center London, which was on of our goals staying there. The pub was a great local pub, the room clean and comfortable and the food was great. We loved the local neighborhood feel with a big park, great restaurants, bakeries and close proximity to the train . You need to be prepared to commute 20-30 minutes to center city London but it was easy.

Very little we didn’t like. Be prepared to walk a few flights to your room. No lift, typical of historic old buildings in GB. Not a fancy hotel at all but lots of character.

Comfortable, character hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location for us visiting our daughter . Nice safe area and near to station for easy access to Kings Cross. Very comfortable bed, room very clean (respect to housekeeping staff) . Fridge with fresh milk , water and beer. Good quality tea, coffee and chocolate on hospitality tray. Nice toiletries. Above a lively, popular pub/kitchen, but that didn’t disturb us. Very good breakfast included in room rate and served in pub dining room. All in all an excellent stay and we will definitely be back.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like.

Hotel staff were very helpful, observant and friendly. The room was very comfortable, clean and peaceful. Great facilities, tea and coffee etc… and the breakfast choices were plentiful with customisations available as an option if required. Easy to get to train station and a 10min train journey into London Vic and from there easy to get to anywhere. Good coffee houses and restaurants around the local area.

The bar staff working in the pub downstairs weren’t particularly helpful when we wanted to order food / drinks to take to our room.

The hotel, the staff, the room, the pub, we loved this place. They gave us a very warm welcome, showed us to our room en took the time to give us all the information we needed. The breakfast was great, there is a lot of choice and the scrambled eggs on toast are an absolute winner. It is very nice you can have dinner in the pub and everyone is very friendly and relaxed.

In the night you hear a lot of sirens/ambulances driving by and because it is an old building and I think dubbel glass is not allowed, it is good to take this in account. It didn t bother me to much and there are ear pluggs available, but it is good to realise this when you come over.

Was a great stay in a nice little area. Wasn't the closest hotel to the city centre but the adventures in each day were a part of the fun experience. Hotel staff were great, and the morning breakfast was 10/10 as it was a chef cooked meal off a menu. The room service staff were also amazing, they were friendly, helpful, and did a great job. The room was huge for London, the bathroom was also huge. There were local markets less that 100m away. Lots of food options, clothing stores, supermarkets, barbers and public transport options, all 2 minutes walk away. The pub downstairs looks like it had a nice atmosphere and food options, however we didnt eat or drink there much as we were out and about. Athough there was a vibing pub downstairs, our room was silent, we would have had no idea it was there if we hadn't walked through it. We would recommend and would love to go back.

We didnt have an issue with it, but there was no lift for luggage, stairs are the only option up to the rooms. The staff were all very friendly and im sure someone would offer assistance if you asked.

Everything met my expectations, the food was excellent, especially the breakfast which was first class! The staff were wonderful and couldnt do enough for me. It is a lovely pub with a great atmosphere, I would definitely stay there again 👍

Everything met my expectations, except the cabin room was not right for me. I have arthritis and am waiting for knee replacements. There are a lot of stairs up to the room and the mattress is on the floor so I found it difficult to get into and out of bed. It’s a lovely quirky, small room with a good sized shower room it has a coffee machine, fridge, iron and ironing board etc it is perfect for someone fitter or a younger couple. I still really enjoyed my break, it is a great place to stay!

The room was lovely and cosy. A well equipped room with ensuite. The shower and water pressure were great! The decorations and interior of the room were beautifully done. The welcome and check in was great and easy with no complications or added surprises. The hotel seems to be a hidden gem with a lovely breakfast included. It's probably the best vegan breakfast I've had at a hotel. The location is ideal, very close to Herne Hill station, and lots of shops and cafes. The pub and restaurant itself are so cosy and nice to sit in. Highly recommend for a nice getaway and place to stay in London.

The only fault was the double bed appeared to be two single mattresses together, which would have been fine if notified of this or if it was for one person. Because it was for 2 people it wasn't quite appropriate. But the bed itself was still comfortable and the bedding warm and high quality!

The Half Moon hotel is in a fabulous location in the heart of Herne Hill. It provides a great base for travelling into Central London with the train station nearby. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean, cosy, and comforable. There's a good selection of tea and coffee available in the room, as well as some tasty little chocolates. The breakfast was superb and served in the lovely restaurant downstairs. We really enjoyed our stay, and highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is in an old building, so there's no lift. If you're on the top floor, it's a bit of a walk up the stairs!

The room was excellent, very comfy bed, nice shower and a fridge which had free bottled water , beer and even milk (other establishments take note) Large restaurant and bar areas The food was very good (both breakfast and dinner) and the staff were friendly and helpful Used it as a base to attend Wimbledon ..only 4 stops on Thameslink and the Herne Hill station is just around the corner We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to our friends

No thing to criticize

Rooms and facilities are wonderful, pub and restaurant very convenient, plus loads of places to eat around if staying longer than 1/2 nights, if one is looking for great location with all in one to be able to have lovely food and a pint and comfortable room in very English style, it is the place to stay.

breakfast buffet could be fresher and more choice (proper size croissants etc) but menu breakfast with poached eggs etc was fantastic so I cannot say a bad thing but fussy eaters i was with had issues :-)
