All the staff at the hotel were super friendly and really helpful. Our room was very clean, a good size and had the most amazingly comfortable beds and pillows. Breakfast was great with lots of help yourself cereal, yogurt, toast and pastries plus a full menu if you wanted a hot breakfast, i.e. porridge, Full English, pancakes etc. The pool was amazing, super clean, really warm and a great size and there is a 'cellar' in the basement which has board games, sofas and a large TV. The location of the hotel couldn't be more perfect, a few minutes walk into the high street that has every restaurant, pub and shop you could wish for, as well as a Ferrari garage (much to my son's delight!). I can't recommend this hotel enough.

The only tiny niggle I have is that the water pressure in the shower in our room was really poor.

When you first arrive, the garden and car park are well maintained, the hotel itself is a lovely building and I loved the decor! I thoroughly enjoyed the cellar, which was a lovely place to go with comfortable sofas and tables, and you could help yourself to games, books and a big screen tv. The staff we encountered were sensational! And they really did make out experience. We were greeted by the lovely Michelle, and spent a lot of the time over the weekend we stayed talking to her, and her and Simone really did make our stay! They were so friendly and Michelle had clear knowledge about the area. She took the time to get to know us and give us advice on places to visit.

My only issue (and it is my only one) is the room we stayed in wasn’t the best cleaned. The tiles in the bathroom, including the ceiling were mouldy. And the door right by the wall had tea stains splashed up the wall.

The location away from traffic was excellent. The right side of Lyndhurst for easy access. . An attractive building. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfasts were nice. 2 restaraunt supervisors particularly pleasant and professional. As was receptionist. We loved the public sitting room. Although an old building I was glad of easy to use modern windows. We love the New Forest and Lyndhurst

I was disappointed in the room. small and dark. Bathroom was a good size. I didn't get on with the shower so only used it once. Too much hassle. I think the fact my husband wasn't well whilst we were at the hotel coloured our stay. We thought the teas coffees etc in the room were not very generous. .

Location is really superb, just far enough from the village centre to make the most of the peace & quiet but close enough to walk in for shops/pubs etc. good parking.

If I had to be picky, then the shower is a bit lame by today’s standards, a trickle of water, but we managed! Due to inconsiderate guests the soft door closures could do with being tightened up as most evenings/mornings you heard slamming bedroom doors 🤯. Certainly the latter is not the hotels fault though.

May 2023

I will start by saying that we were not there under the best of circumstance. My wife had a couple of urgent hospital appointments at short notice, one in Portsmouth on the Friday morning, the next in Southampton on the Sunday afternoon, so rather than keep commuting back to the Isle of WIght we decided to spend a couple of nights in New Forest which we booked during half term week on the Thursday night - so very limited everywhere. Our needs, therefore were different to most peoples. Our initial room was the last of the doubles, it was comfortable, perhaps a little dark and overlooked the roof of the kitchen so not the best outlook and there was an obvious droning sound. For most people that wouldn't be a real issue (you don't go to the New Forest to sit in your hotel room) but my wife had had a fairly traumatic day and was shattered and needed rest so it was an issue for her. I went to reception and spoke to a lovely lady who came immediately to investigate the issue and said the sound was from the kitchen fan and the kitchen closed at 8:30. When she saw how distressed my wife was, she went to check if there were other rooms available (I told her I was happy to upgrade if necessary) and found a much nicer room with a 4 poster bed overlooking the central court area. When I went to settle the difference in price on checkout day, she told me 'It's OK' ... we cannot thank her and the hotel enough for their kindness and understanding. Our circumstances aside, the hotel is lovely. It is clean, welcoming and all the staff were were friendly and helpful. The food was good and service was excellent. It has an indoor pool, is family friendly and dog friendly (we will go back with ours at some stage) and has a welcoming atmosphere. It is only 5 minutes walk from the town centre, has good parking and an EV charger (a rarity in the New Forest apparently).

I can't say there is anything in particular. Like most hospitality venues emerging from the pandemic into the energy crisis, times are hard, and there will be a long list of 'to do' jobs like a lick of paint or freshening up in places, and a colourful picture on the wall in our first room would have brightened it up considerably. But everywhere was sound, clean and comfortable, and that is the most important part.

Great location, very friendly staff. The room had lots of storage and the bed was comfortable. Car parking was easy and secure.

Room was dingy, very poorly lit. The dining room was great for breakfast, but didn't look inviting enough for dinner (and there are loads of other places to eat nearby). Breakfast service was slow but the food was delicious when it arrived. We did raise our eyebrows somewhat at the bar prices (and hence only had one drink there).

Great location being just a short walk into town, neatly presented, well kept and rooms were comfortable

Service at breakfast was a bit slow if I was being picky but food was nice. We thought it was a bit on the pricey side when we booked however it was a Saturday night and when we arrived everything was of a good standard so actually I would say it was pretty good value for the area.

We stayed for a 2 night weekend Trip. Great country hotel in a great location. The room was comfortable and clean. The food was great especially the evening meals we had the steak and a mixed grill and couldn't fault it. Great service by the staff. Bar area and downstairs cellar area was nice and cosy with a good selection of drinks. Would recommend and would definitely stay again.

Plenty of parking with fast, professional check in. Comfortable quiet room with lovely views. We loved the pool. Breakfast is exceptional with loads of choices. The restaurant staff are really helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Location is great with a short walk to local pubs, restaurants and shops. This is not our first stay.

Could do with shampoo and plastic bags in the pool area. More tea and milk in the rooms although extra may be ordered from reception.

Made very welcome and given an overview guide of facilities. The Cellar was a great place for families and good to have a more adult quiet space too. Good breakfast menu. Extra bonus was the pool.

We would stay again as good value for money. We ate out at the Indian restaurant which was in walking distance in Lyndhurst. Room and bathroom decor was a bit tired but overall clean.
