Situated in the High Street, with a car park behind the hotel. The room was large and extremely comfortable and the breakfast was good. We had a couple of evening meals at the hotel and they too were excellent, and well priced for the area. I became ill on the last day, resulting in an ambulance being sent and the staff all showed oncern and did everything they could to make our last night more comfortable, even moving us to another large room with less stairs to climb.

We arrived on Sunday and the car park was pretty full, but we discovered that they are always busy on a Sunday due to their renowned Sunday dinners However, I can't see what else they can do to ensure hotel guests can get a space. The rest of the week was fine!

It is nice decorated pub + hotel. The breakfast is included. Staff are very friendly, they kindly keep our luggage at their safe place after we checked out.

Within the building, our room is a bit tricky to find (old english house maze). We arrived on a Sunday evening, kitchen stopped serving food from 7ish. But the bartender did recommend a nice place nearby. There is no direct train to town. The bus from the nearest station runs every two hours. Taxi service is limited. We didn't manage to get one when we came from the train station to the hotel. The one we took from the hotel to Southampton central cost 40 pounds (for future traveler's reference).

We received a very friendly welcome, everyone here is so nice and accommodating. We stayed with our dog and we’ve never stayed anywhere so suited to holidaying with your dog. They had everything you could possibly need and she was made to feel as welcome as we were. Our room was lovely and clean, well presented and the food was amazing. A break breakfast each morning was included in the price of the room. We’d recommend The Stag to anyone looking to stay in the New Forest, especially if they are looking to go away with their dog. Thank you to all that staff here who couldn’t have done more for us.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at The Stag, the staff were lovely and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. We stayed in room 1 which was spacious, had been gorgeous decor and the bed was super cosy. The hotel and the rooms were clean and tidy. We also got to meet the cleaning staff who were also lovely and accommodated a later room clean as we were using our room for a base for the groomsman for the wedding we were in the area for. Breakfast was amazing and so was the Sunday lunch! Highly recommend! Would definitely stay at the hotel again if we are in the area.

Super friendly staff who immediately made me feel welcome! There was a very serious issue with the room I had booked so I ended up having to stay in the only room left in the hotel which is a very small single room, however the management couldn’t do enough to apologise and refunded my entire booking and offered me anything free at the bar! They even offered to ring around other hotels to try and find me an alternative room but it was getting quite late in the evening by now and after a long drive I didn’t want to start moving again. Thank you very much for being so warm and welcoming. I breakfast was absolutely fantastic too! I’ll be visiting for work every month or so, and I will definitely stay again!

When we arrived the small carpark was full, the owner of the hotel was great! She gave us her space to ensure that we were parked onsite and said that we could use it for the duration of our stay. It would have been very easy for her to say the carpark is full but she went out of her way to ensure that we were parked onsite. A massive thank you! Lovely family owned business, it is clear that a lot of care and attention to detail has gone into the hotel, breakfast is great too! We will be back for sure.

We had a great time. Everything was top notch. The rooms are spacious, clean, have lots of natural light and are excellent value for money. The staff really set the Stag apart. The owners went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The pub food is fantastic and the breakfast is great, especially as its included in the room rate. A small leak caused our door to jam. However, we were quickly moved into a large room at no extra cost. The owners gave us a free drink and even offered a free meal! We would definitely stay here again!

The drinks were expensive in the bar (cheaper next door) we were woke u early with beer barrels being thrown about outside for what seemed like forever. It’s in a good location but right on the main road which is busy with traffic so had to have the window closed at night.

The room was very clean and spacious. All staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the breakfast was attractively presented on the plate. We had an evening meal and the staff were able to give us a table even though we hadn't booked.

The door to our room kept sticking and needed full body weight to open it. The hot water was far too hot and needed a war ing sticker in the bathroom to state this.

We liked everything - as usual. - Friendly, welcoming staff - great location - comfortable, huge room - very comfortable bed - gorgeous bathroom - extremely clean - parking - attractive gardens - relaxed feel (we checked in during the evening and it was absolutely no problem to them) - great breakfast - genuinely, truly dog-friendly - they really love our boy

There was nothing we didn't like. Already rebooked multiple weekend visits.
