Lovely to return to the hotel we got married in 15 years previously. And great to see the same manager still over sees the hotel. The hotel dining area is a lovely setting and the food very nice too. The hotel has a lovely intimate and cosy feel. Hotel well placed in Lyndhurst and visiting the New Forest

The booking included a meal package. It was not clear through Booking.com that this was a monetary amount towards the evening meal of £35 per head. Which possibly covers two courses. We don’t however want to this to detract from what was a very nice three course meal and celebratory event.

Well appointed room, with a lovely bathroom, tea and coffee making facilitiesand a comfy bed. We were pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded from a superior room to a suite which was at the rear of the hotel so nice and quiet. The staff were all friendly and welcoming.

1. The lack of menu choice at the grill restaurant, and not great service. We are aware that it’s currently very difficult to get staff in the hospitality industry, however the younger staff they had at the hotel seemed to be in need of some training as they really didn’t seem to understand the meaning of customer service. The food we received was very good, but really not very good value for money. 2. No safe provided in the room in this day and age is poor.

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast buffet was good, especially the joy of constant freshly-baked croissants! The hotel is located at the top of the high street, which makes exploring so much better and a simple walk into the high street from the hotel takes less than 5 minutes!

The 2-for-1 cocktail offer is great, however, they did not have some of the mixing ingredients for the cocktails, which made selection quite restricted. With a Tesco and Co-Op close, by, we could've expected someone to literally run over the road to get the ingredients. Dinner was disappointing. The starter and one of the mains was far too salty (and my partner likes salt!) and the fish dish was flavourless, which was suprising....

After our early arrival (4 hours) we were asked to wait a few minutes and then shown our 4 poster bed room, located at the back of the hotel away from the street traffic. Tried the 2 for 1 cocktails - very disappointed with the selection. Then we saw Peter Gyor, head of something, forgot what. We last saw Peter when we went to Burley Manor, last year.so he had obviously been poached from Burley. We mentioned the poor range of cocktails to him, as he was a specialist in all cocktails, that the Crown needs to change immediately. So Crown your main downfall is your pathetic range of cocktails. Unless that changes we won't be coming back despite everything else being near perfect. Many other hotels in the Forest do a brilliant range of cocktails. Peter was his usual friendly manor and useful in recommending other made up drinks to satisfy our cravings to make our long weekend remarkable instead of just a boring old fashioned bar. Without Peter the Crown would be a 500 year old building being run with the attitude of 500 year old Owners

Pathetic range of cocktails

nice old hotel, with lovely public rooms. our room was comfortable and quiet. it is nice to have a lift for those of us who struggle with stairs.

breakfast was marginal in that the serving dishes were pretty much empty both days, and then the food was cold and lacking in flavor. dinner however, was not good. the food was overcooked, the burger was hard to eat, and there was no sauce on it at all, just a plain bun, over cooked meat, a tiny slice of tomato and a small leaf of lettuce. too expensive for this. also had the guinea hen, sauce was runny and all of it was overcooked. they have such a nice dining area and the serving staff is good, they need to get someone in that will make the meals spectacular.

This was our second visit to the Crown Manor House Hotel. It is located conveniently for both the new forest and the coast and is a comfortable hotel. It is a classic hotel with lots of old world charm and history. The staff are all friendly and well presented giving a feeling of real service. The room was large by most standards and the bed was extremely comfortable. The room was clean and well presented as was the bathroom which had a good shower and bath.

Our only problem was, and this is certainly because of the age of the building, that we were woken each morning, at 06.00, by the heating pipes as they expanded. The banging was quite loud in our room, 209, and went on for ten to fifteen minutes or more each day. It is unlikely that the hotel would be able to prevent this but did reduce what would otherwise have been an excellent night's sleep.

The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Our four poster bed room was perfect and as we were celebrating our 50 th wedding anniversary could not have been better. Our breakfast was excellent however the one problem we had was that having waited to be shown to a vacant table we then went to choose our breakfast from a fresh and large choice, our original waiter came over to us and apologised to say whilst we were choosing another 2 guests had taken our table. He was very apologetic but had re-laid a new table for us; we agreed that this was the best course of action and it did not worry us in the least. So what could have been an embarrassing situation was put right without the errant guests even know what they had done.

The hotel room we stayed in was very comfortable and the decor was English traditional. The room facilities were good and included everything* we needed , even a clothes iron. The bathroom , although( quite small , had a bath and the water pressure and temperature were excellent. The hotel has several comfortable sitting* and reading areas, large breakfast and separate dining rooms. The breakfast was very good. The car park is large and at the rear of the hotel and the location on the high street is excellent. The hotel building an$ gardens are well maintained and very traditional. The staff were friendly and helpful. In all , a very traditional and elegant hotel.

The room was a bit smaller than we would have preferred as we were travelling internationally but that is always a trade off in staying at delightful traditional old English hotels.

Superb Dinner at the hotel and a very good breakfast.

My only comment would be in relation to the size of the bathroom. Whilst I accept I had a basic single room the very small bathroom could have been organised more efficiently. A walk in shower would have given more room than the small bath that was fitted. This may be personal preference but would have made my stay easier. The shower itself was great to use with good pressure,

The breakfast was amazing. All the staff in the dining room were very friendly and efficient and really wanted us to have the best possible experience. Regarding the room I believe that Christos went out of his way to ensure we had the best possible room for our stay of a week. Staff often asked what we planned to do for the day and were interested to hear our ideas. They also asked how the day had gone too. We often had drinks in the back garden which was lovely and peaceful. We had asked for a room overlooking the garden but I believe that was not possible and I really loved the fact that we looked directly onto the church which was amazing. There was a lot of traffic down the main road but it did not really bother us as it calmed down at night. We did not have dinner because it was beyond our budget.

It would have been great to have had a snack bar with bar snacks but perhaps that would not have been possible. As it was an old building there was only a very small lift. We were on the second floor so usually walked up the stairs. (quite hard work for someone who had had 2 hip replacements!)
