1. full kitchen facilities and utensils (but without a freezer) 2. comfy bed 3. room is fairly spacious
1. lousy roommates coming back in the middle of the night and then make a lot of noise (is there any chance you include some "quiet rooms" that only allow for people who get in before 11pm or sth like that?) 2. my room is located by the river, so the chatter sounds sometimes make it hard to fall asleep 3. I saw the cleaning staff put the pillows/duvets straightly on the ground when replacing the old pillow/bed sheets, I wonder if that is sanitary? 4. check-out time is a bit early (10am 🥹)

The location was very handy and lovely by the canal! Lots of space and hang out areas with vending machine, bar and usable areas for food etc. Lockers and 24hr water tap also by reception which is great!
The toilet in my shared room smelt bad even though it was clean and because it was plastic, it had stained an orange colour which was off putting on top of the smell. However there was a toilet and shower in the hallway that I was able to use instead, which I was happy and thankful for, otherwise I would have felt uncomfortable using the room one. We were provided with one pillow, which was too low for me. I went to reception to ask to hire another one, but apparently they did not offer this service, which I thought was strange as they hire towels! Because of this it gave me a bad neck and I did not sleep well. I think that the option to hire an extra pillow should be available as everybody sleeps differently and has different body requirements, so something to consider!

It was very good value for money. Four of us stayed in the room and it came to only £20 each per night! The room was well equipped and had everything we needed. The reception was open 24/7 which was very handy, and after we had checked out they even held onto my bag for a couple hours for free whilst I wandered around Manchester. I thought I would have to pay for left luggage at the station, but instead the staff were incredibly accommodating so I didn't need to.
The only very minor thing I can think to mention was that not all of the plugs in the room worked.

** USB Outlets near the bed for those of us who don't have UK adapters - so thoughtful! ** Super-helpful staff! ** Maybe the first time ever I saw an actually CLEAN hostel kitchen! ** Pretty much any convenience/facility/service you could ask for from a hostel - they offer it!
I'm nitpicking here a little bit - these are more suggestions for what could improve rather than any real criticism: ** It's not actually that cheap. Sure, it's the least expensive option I found - but still I would not call it 'cheap'. Also - the bar/cafe/restaurant/breakfast - you can find cheaper options for that elsewhere. A bit perplexing, cause I figured youth hostels should cater to broke students more than mid-range travelers. Some 4$ for a coffee is too much... At a hostel, frankly it wouldn't hurt them to offer coffee/tea for free, or at the least for some small symbolic fee only. But again - just nitpicking. ** The bed mattresses were quite soft and after a while, you could feel the hard frame below the mattress. Again - nitpicking, it wasn't a big deal.

I have stayed at the hostel already once, years ago, and I am glad I had again a good experience. I was in a female dormitory, the bed was comfortable, the linen clean, there were no towels but you can rent one at the reception for £2.50. Each bed has an individual light, two usb ports and one electric socket. There are also lockers (but you need to have your own lock to close it) We had a bathroom in our room, it was very small but everything worked well. The location is quite central, at walking distance from stations, bus stops and super markets. Also the Museum of Science and Industry is only is couple of minutes walk.
I don't have complains. When I arrived the lift didn't work, so I had to carry my heavy luggage up to the first floor, but this is something minor, also the next day it was working without problems...

Complete facilities in the lobby, could get my work done nicely since the WiFi was fast and free. Luckily the bunkmates were mostly quiet so there were no disruptions at night. When I woke up, everyone in the room was gone so I had the whole room to myself to get ready.
This is not YHA's fault but there was a group of school kids which made the lobby really loud at night, but this was not too bothersome because I had headphones on. Also the price was relatively cheap, but it was still expensive.

The staff in reception was nice and happy to help. The hostel was impeccably clean!. They letbyou leave the luggage in so you can explore once you checked out which was very suitable for me. I could also use their self catering g kitchen even when I checked out which was a blessing as I have few food intolerance so using their bar wasn't suitable for me ( although it looked lovely) The facilities were all very good, I put here 8 out of 10 as the bathrooms outside ( I had to use one as we were four girls in the room checking out on the same day) were a bit small and oldish ( not extremely though, still very good for a hostel. I definitely will be back:))
Nothing to be honest.

everything was very clean, staff were excellent. It was nice to have a kitchen, bar, lounge areas, ensuite washrooms. Happy there was storage when checking in early and leaving late. Location is a bit off from the main areas, but it was a very beautiful location by the canals with lots of restaurants, museums and parks.
The locker under each bed did not make sense.... it wouldn't stay closed with a lock. Even staff were unsure how to use it. Staff were great, and locked my passport up Didn't like that I was unable to check in early, as most hostels are normally can accommodate.

Wonderful hostel, great to have breakfast on offer, I never used the bar but world Cup fans had a luxurious spot to watch the games. The view from my room was spectacular, the water filling stations were very good too. The staff were exceptionally friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
I did not know at booking I could reserve a lowbunk. I'm 48 with arthritis and I had to take the top bunk. I did not feel safe on the ladder as the steps are far apart. It hurt getting up and down. The staff tried thier best to swap me but couldn't. Next time I will reserve one now that I know. Privacy curtains would have been a great edition. My score would have been much higher if in place. Also i banged my head on the sharp metal lamp! That really hurt. One last thing it was hard to get a bolt car. One driver couldn't find it even with satnav! And many were reluctant because of busy traffic in town.

Breakfast was good value as kids ate free with adults. Stayed in a family room which was a decent size & had a radiator that heated up really quickly & kept us warm during a chilly & wet stay. Everything was really clean & staff & other guests were friendly. Location was really central & appreciated the option to eat & prepare your own food as well as order from the bar.
Overcharged when we ordered dinner - the kids’ meals were meant to be free with the adults’. Also a small thing but the water in the room isn’t potable. There’s free drinking water in the bar area but would have really appreciated a jug to be able to take some up rather than the tiny drinking glasses.
