The location and breakfast were excellent. The bar area and dining room were spacious and comfortable. Very comfortable bed in our room. Friendly and helpful staff.

To be honest, the room itself felt a bit drab, with dark curtains helping to block any natural light, and no decent overhead or task lighting for reading. We were also disappointed that even the bottled water in the room had to be paid for - in any other hotel we have stayed in the water has been complimentary. You could also do with allocating more milk, and two packs of biscuits per day to rooms with more than one guest.

The room was excellent. Spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The Bar was quiet and relaxing. The location is good both for the centre of the city and also for the Tyne. Restaurants are within walking distance. I normally choose The Vermont for my trips to Newcastle

The outside car park is cramped and sometimes over - full with cars parked in the middle which can impede movement of cars coming in/going out. There are no EV charging facilities at the hotel although I believe there are such facilities in and around Newcastle. Parking in the inner car park is often not available and needs to be requested before arrival.

The location was great, easy to find. The coniseuer on arrive was very pleasant and friendly and had a great sense of humour. Our room was immaculate, the staff were all amazing. We really enjoyed the breakfasts. We asked for eggs done a different way and we had them within 10 minutes. After we returned home a day or 2 we realised we'd left a pair of trainers in the wardrobe, we contacted the hotel, they'd saved the trainers and posted them out to us for a small cost and we received them very well packaged. Can't say a bad word about this hotel

Location within walking distance to the main street, restaurants, river and cathedral. Bonus that it is right next to the castle. Lovely interior with a bar and restaurant and multiple sitting areas.

Our room was small and looked over the railway line. Not a problem for us, but if you can't sleep with noise, I would ask for a room away from the train line. The parking area is small and is a first-come, first served scenario. Otherwise there is paid street parking available. The night we were there the roof-top bar was not available due to a private function.

The hotel location is great being midway beyween the shopping areas and the riverside. The main entrance is on Level 6 which initially felt strange but an exit on level 1 almost puts you at the river and a range of restaurants, saving a steep set of stairs. Breakfast is both very good value and extensive. However, the best element of this hotel are the staff. The concierge staff were particularly brilliant, very friendly, informatuve and helpful. The reception staff were quietly efficient and the breakfast room team couldnt be more helpful.

Our room was close to railway line at the back of the hotel, so on occasions it was noisy when the windows were open. At night time though we hardly noticed it, as the windows were closed. There is limited parking at the hotel at present. This was known to us before we arrived but even on a Sunday all the spaces went before we arrived. The concierge team tried thier best to keep us informed of when spaces became available.

Room was comfortable and quiet. Welcome by staff was superb. Location excellent.

On final day we went to put cases in car to find it missing. Shocked to think that it had been stolen we were finally told that it had been moved to the other car park. No reason given (hotel states first come, first served and it had been parked for four days) and no message to us to say it had been moved the night before. A simple explanation and text message to my phone could have avoided all worry and upset. A poor finish to a lovely stay.

The location was spot on - right slap bang of the quayside area and in easy reach of everything in the city centre. the hotel itself is a beautiful old stone building with high ceilings and grand public rooms which we loved.

On-site parking is in short supply and very sought after. unbelievably there are no dedicated blue badge disabled bays which I’m not even sure is legal for a hotel that size. The window in our bedroom was apparently broken so it was not possible to open it which made it very stuffy - can’t imagine what it would be like on a hot summer night. Finally the bed was quite small - definitely not a superking like most hotels of this type and the mattress was hard and a bit lumpy.

I love the building itself; the location is perfect for a city break and there’s a good amount of parking available too. The rooms are spacious and elegant; everything was spotlessly clean too. the lounge and bar area was a great space to meet up with family and spend a fun and relaxed evening too. Breakfast had a lot of great choices and was all delicious.

Nothing really. My only comments are that the room we had was just below the late bar/club and we did get a certain amount of noise but it ended relatively early and wasn’t overbearing due to the decent glazing. Other than that, the last time we stayed there was waiting service at table for breakfast rather than the buffet. Personally, I feel that a hotel like the Vermont should, if possible, stick with table service . Just my opinion, but I feel it’s a standard deserving of a quality hotel.

Staff, reception and accommodation were excellent. We had a minor problem with the door lock that was resolved quickly and the staff were very helpful. The room was comfortable and quiet and well-appointed. We did not use the restaurant but we made use of the bar where the staff were friendly and attentive. The Concierge was charming, friendly and knowledgeable about local amenities.

For an elderly person access to a shower over a bath is not the most suitable. The non-slip bathbase was quite slippery and the extra non-slip rubber bathmat was uncomfortable to stand on! The shower gel containers were situated at the opposite end of the bath to the shower and meant having to turn around for gel only to turn back for the shower; this was a real hazard as the constant rotation can make you dizzy and lead to a fall in, or from, the bath. Lastly , the loo-roll holder is poorly situated so that ,if sitting on the 'loo' you have to turn awkwardly to grab the paper!
