Enjoyed it here - quiet with few guests midweek which I enjoyed. Good sixed rooms - mine had a sit down space with sofa and occasional table. On Suite was more than adequate and comfy beds. No Guest Kitchen which was the only drawback but its still the best backpacker option in Newcastle when compared to alternatives. Location is tucked away just near the Laing Gallery - 5 min walk to Monument Metro and Eldon Square. I didn't opt for breakfast.

Lack of a Guest Kitchen. Locker arrangement can be a bit fiddly and noisy whilst putting padlock on and off.

Great hostel/hotel in the downtown of Newcastle, not far from the Earl Grey monument and the Central rail station. Private rooms are available as well as traditional dorm rooms. Lots of European university students with some "mature students" as well. Great pub / dinning hall at the entrance to the building which is a brick walled, steel framed structure. If you don't mind stairs they are much quicker than the elevator. Private washroom in my large room with wall mounted TV screen, Nicely decorated room as well. Kabannas has two other locations in London and Liverpool. JAF

Unlike traditional hostels, there was no shared kitchen, but continental breakfast was available (at a cost) in the dinning hall.

Everything!!!! Honestly, really exceeded my expectations, the room was so spacious and comfortable, there was plenty of storage space and it just felt like the room was lending me a hand when I was trying to organise myself. The staff were great help and everyone just seemed happy to be there. Especially loved the coffee machine - it was really nice when we wanted a hot drink before bed/first thing.

A few rowdy guests but we were on a hostel floor and it was halloween so it was expected. Someone did accidentally get the wrong room and was trying to get into our flat before realising she was in the one next door. (not the properties fault though!)

The Kabannas came up on Booking.com and was the cheapest hotel available in Newcastle. The pictures looked decent so took a chance and I’m glad we did. The hotel is spotless, downstairs bar area is cool af, and the rooms are decent and genuinely I had an unbelievable night sleep (helped with mulled wine). Location is very good, no where near the noisy nightlife, but a short walking distance to the bars, 02, train station, Xmas markets EVERYTHING. Without blowing too much smoke up their ars*s and sounding like a bot review, there is a few things which could make the experience better hence a score of 8/10. Reception - no one present at all, there were a bunch of guests trying to check in and being confused how too. Check in/out - had text messages and emails from the hotel stating one time, where in reality these were wrong meaning we arrived later, and checked out earlier because we didn’t want to get charged (no sleep in for selbs). Bathroom - top tip, bring goggles and flip-flops. It’s an all in one bathroom meaning no room for activities 😮‍💨 and the dreaded shower curtain but tbf it was funny because our lass decked it whilst leaving due to the Wet ‘n’ Wild slip zone floor. 100% would and will be staying here again for Sam Fender next June. Oi oi

Typed it above my bad.

We stayed in the Bunkalow room for 14 people. We had a separate entertainment area and adequate showers and toilets. Beds were comfortable and the room was nice and warm. The facilities were brilliant, great area for drinking in the bar, food available and really friendly and helpful staff. The location was also fab, only 5 minutes walk to the Bigg Market. Really enjoyed it.

My only - not complaint but suggestion - is in the bunkalow the door may need some wd40 and also suggest having something on the door to stop it slamming! When people are getting up in the night to use the toilet etc it’s quite loud! This is my only ‘gripe’ about the stay and it’s not a complaint!!

Friendly and helpful staff, great location relative to things to see and do in Newcastle. My fiancé and I stayed four nights in a private room with its own shower and bathroom, which was great-even had an extra bunk bed in our room that we didn't use. Other reviews made it seem like you had to pay for a towel, but we each got one towel (an extra towel does cost $$ though, as does the breakfast and other basics like toothbrushes, etc.). Also nice that our shower/bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion provided. Oh, and there was laundry (washer and dryer) in the basement that you could use for free (just provide your own detergent), which was great!

Would've been nice if there was a refrigerator in the rooms or in a shared space to keep food cold, or if there was generally some sort of area to cook. Having to buy every bit of food you eat negates some of the savings of this place. Even with this place being like a hostel, there are plenty of hostels that provide those things as well as coffee and tea.

we were going for a concert at the o2 city hall and the location was perfect! 5min walk from it, but also super close to the centre the room was spacious, the price was good and it was super clean. the bed was big and comfortable. they have complimentary hot drinks (tea, coffee, chocolate…) at the reception and in that weather we truly loved them! all of the staff we interacted with were super nice as well

the shower was almost at the same level than the rest of the bathroom and the curtain a bit short, so it was a bit tough to not get water everywhere

The room was very comfortable and worth the price. TV with lots of channels on, comfortable beds, clean bathroom and they also left us enough towels🌟 We went to the restaurant/bar downstairs but were unfortunately unable to sit in as we had a child with us. However, the staff member offered to bring our food to the room instead and made us feel very comfortable. We bought our drinks there while he also provided good recommendations. Very polite, friendly and enthusiastic. Excellent service.

My sister couldn't stay the night with us since the booking was for 4 and she would have been an addition to our company of 3 adults and a toddler, even though there was a bed free in our room to accommodate her. Would have been amazing if she could, as it was her last night with us before leaving for uni.

I'd booked a cheaper, bigger mixed dorm online, but on arrival was given a smaller female dorm, which was great, especially having a bottom bunk. And the bonus of an en suite toilet/shower PLUS a separate en suite toilet. I used my under-bed roll-out cage for storage, but the other girls had LOADS of luggage that wouldn't fit, and I think there was only one cupboard. I actually don't like using en-suite bathroom facilities when the others are asleep, so I nipped downstairs behind reception/bar to use that toilet. I had stayed here a few years ago when it was YHA, but this time I had my bike and was accompanied to the secure basement to lock it up. This was great. The price was dearer than I paid last time, but the staff and facilities were great, so I would definitely stay again.

Only one cupboard for 4 bunks, and the others couldn't fit their suitcases under the bed due to the roll-out cages. Was fine for me with my limited luggage in the cage. Could do with more coathangers/coat hooks.

Great big room, fantastic accommodating staff and great value. Close to city centre but far enough to be quiet to get a good nights sleep. Good value for money. Would definitely return again
