We have stayed a the George on three previous occasions and enjoyed it very much, however this time we wee disappointed with our room allocation. We received an upgrade when booking and requested a quiet room, we were allocated a room at the back of the hotel, which was fine but it was above the kitchen. The noise continued until after 10.30 pm and started again at 5.30 am, not great. The room was comfortable and the en suite was large and very clean, in fact the hotel was very clean. Dinner in the evening was very good and the menu was extensive therefore no problem finding something to eat, well cooked with generous helpings. Breakfast was excellent with a very varied menu, no buffet style here, freshly cooked and prepared.

Room allocation not great as above kitchen, noisy. Requested a quiet room, would hve expected better as this was our forth stay.

Wonderful ambiance of this charming hotel. Food in restaurant was delicious , the best we ate in England. The staff in the restaurant were very accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was good with several choices and they happily made lattes. The front desk was very helpful in getting us taxis and giving directions.

Lack of elevator but front desk carried up my suitcase when they saw I was struggling. Room size is very small. Only place to put the suitcase is on the bed when you want to look thru it. No closet and the shower, while it had lots of hot water and good pressure was small.

Stayed for work , three nights and had what I think was a very good deal. Room was lovely , very clean , well appointed, bed was very comfy, plenty of pillows. Wifi signal was strong. All the staff I met were lovely and friendly. I ate in the bar every night because the food was so good no need to go travelling. Good location for the city centre, or to get to the ring road and travel further.

Hard to find anything negative really because it was such a good stay. Car park is small but I still managed to get parked every night.

The rooms were very well presented. The staff were incredibly attentive, polite and friendly. The breakfast was delicious, and a good selection of drinks. Clean and tidy. Lovely secluded little area which we loved yet close enough into the city. We have made this our new pit stop when staying in Norfolk.

IF I had to pick a negative, it would be the kitchen swing door, in the bar/restaurant. It swings back and forth much longer than is required and makes an incredibly annoying sound, which you can still hear from the opposite side of the restaurant. Not even sure if this can be improved but other than that, I have absolutely nothing negative to say.

A quiet location out of the centre. The room was clean, good shower and free WiFi throughout the property. Free car parking on site. All the staff were very welcoming and the bar and dining areas were comfortable too.

The bed was a little uncomfortable compared to other places we have stayed. The pillows were also very firm. The breakfast was a bit disappointing. The fried bread wasn't good, and my wife's scrambled eggs were cold. The instant coffee in the room is not very nice. And then the cafetiere used at breakfast produced a very gritting coffee.

Very clean and a very contemporary feel to the whole place! Very friendly and hospitable staff at every time of the day - excellent food and very courteous staff all with welcoming smiles. They couldn’t have made us feel more at home! We were a family group of 8 adults attending a family wedding and after a long journey it was so nice to relax in the bar and then have a lovely evening meal. Great service and lovely food! Well done everyone- I would highly recommend this lovely hotel.

We had a lovely room - no views but that didn’t matter. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent even though we had arrived while two large groups were being catered for. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was really quite exceptional. Even though the restaurant staff were rushed off their feet, they all took time to make sure that we were looked after. The whole place had such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We’d be delighted to recommend this hotel to anyone.

LOCATION: Excellent, close to the city. There are adequate car park spaces on the hotel ground. ROOM: We stayed in room 126 & 127. Very clean and quiet rooms (the rooms are located at the back of the hotel). Very comfortable bed and pillows. The layout of the rooms were perfect with sufficient lighting. The room had a TV, complimentary drinks (kettle, tea, coffee, sugar and milk), hairdryer. Adequate storage space and mirrors. A working quiet air conditioning unit which kept the room temperature nice and cosy. BATHROOM: lovely hot powerful shower. Adequate towels supplied. Complimentary toiletries (shampoo& bath gel, soap but no hair conditioner). BREAKFAST: Friendly staff, great food.

BATHROOM: Complimentary shower cap and hair conditioner would be great. More shelving and hooks to place toiletries, items etc. The opening of the hand basin taps were too close to the sink, difficult to wash hands without splashing water everywhere.

I enjoyed the comfiness of the bed, having two options for a high and low rise pillow is a great niche to have, and this hotel’s USP has definitely got to be the heat controller, you can be as cosy or as cool as you want - as long as your partner agrees haha! I know he enjoyed the shortbread biscuits :) A good location for those wanting to complete Run Norwich in the summer too - I stayed there last time aswell for my race, and the perfect warm up distance for strolling/jogging alongside the A11 into the city. For those who aren’t local this hotel is quite near Eaton Park, a lovely place with art deco vibes with the mint green dome and arches, you’ll find a lovely café there which does food also. If you’re lucky you may even see the local Heron, he fluctuates between there and the UEA lake I find! :D

My breakfast was great, for £5.95 my bacon and egg breakfast bap was delicious, a runny egg always pleases me. However, I looked at my partner’s breakfast and couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed for him. For £12.95 I would not say that the Vegan ‘full’ English is very substantial compared to the standard full English I saw. He said he could’ve done with some hash browns or something to go with, it almost bordered on a young guests size. But that was our only criticism. All in all a great stay.

Convenient location, good value, nice dinner and breakfast. Lady at check in (Helen?) was extremely helpful.

Late on Saturday evening the bar staff were discussing their differences in full earshot of the customers. It centred around someone not showing someone else the respect they thought they deserved. It was uncomfortable listening and should have been conducted in private. At breakfast on Sunday one of the waitresses had a steaming cold and was coughing. Given recent events it made me a bit nervous, I heard several other guests comment on it. She looked miserable and clearly should have been at home.
