The room was lovely but carpet was stained and frayed when you go in and the shower was not very powerful. The view was lovely from the balcony and the outside space.

We had dinner the first night we had no cutlery when the dinner arrived so they went and got them plus mustards extra came along 5mins later so our dinners were getting cold breakfast both days was lovely but again not very hot. I have a bad foot after getting in the spa when I got in I had a sharp object dig in the side of my foot it’s still sore today we wanted to tell the member of staff on the desk but he had gone.

Reception service was excellent. Location from terrace lovely, swans and river. Gym and pool very good. Didn't like being herded out of pool by Spanish gym manager at 745 on a Saturday night. Tannoy call more suitable.

Breakfast overall was good, bacon was disgusting, too hard to chew. Not fresh and left under a warming light no doubt. Beer was very poor ,the corona, not looked after pipe wise. Why does pool clode at 8pm on Saturday when 10pm all week? Room 131 overlooked island on main road, very noisy. Would have preffered river view location away from traffic

We have been 3 times for a friends' get-together. Over the 4/5 years the food has been consistently good as has the standard of cleanliness and comfort. Improvements noticed in the the temperature of communal areas and rooms (warmer). All the staff were helpful with particular compliments to the reception staff and the waitress at dinner.

Only suggestion is that the window frames be replaced or refurbished - ours was cracked, splintering and needed sanding and painting at the very least.

When we arrived, we were pretty much ignored by the male member of staff on your reception. However, the female receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. Other staff members were also very pleasant and professional. One member of staff in particular was excellent. She served our drinks and evening meal in the bar. Very chatty, whilst remaining professional. Employees like this can make a huge difference to your stay. They are worth their weight in gold.

The area at the back of the hotel fronting the Thames felt a little run down. Out of your control to some degree I guess.

Room was a good size, bed was very large and comfortable. Very clean and plenty of towels which were replaced daily. Nice to get back to normal after all the covid restrictions.

Unfortunately for the hotel (and outside of their control), the water was turned off for an emergency for some hours on the 2nd day. We were out all day so it did not affect us so much but the water did not come back on until after 10pm at night. No toilets or showers for the guests is quite inconvenient. They did their best by offering toilets on the ground floor (manually flushed) in case of emergency. They had informed us via note through the door and answered questions on updates promptly. I think they handled it well. Note that there is a separate charge for using the car park which we were not aware of until the reservation reminder message from the hotel the day before arrival.

I loved the pool and gym. Great not having to prebook. It was also convenient having shampoo, conditioner and hand soap in the rooms, gym showers etc. There was a safe, iron and ironing board, fridge, hair-dryer and tea/coffee station, refilled daily. A sewing kit and shaver/shaving cream was given for free if you forgot to bring these items (a note was left in the room to inform you). You could also control the air-conditioning and there was a heated towel rack in the bathroom. We didn't pay any extra for the sofa-bed either.

The receptionist didn't know if breakfast had vegan options, said she could ask the next morning, but breakfast would cost 16 pounds instead of 9. We went to a lovely breakfast bar opposite the hotel (Gorge's). The door was automatically blocked at noon on our last day even though we had arranged late check-out. We had to go down to reception to re-code it, which wasn't a problem, just inconvenient.

Breakfast was lovely, lots of really nice choice, all of it tasty and plenty of it. For me, the filter coffee was too strong and not to my taste. I couldn't find any speciality teas and didn't ask as staff were busy. The staff were friendly, polite and happy to help. Very smiley which is often not the case at some hotels. We had late check in and night staff friendly and helpful.

Coffee. We had to search for kettle in the room as it was hidden away but not a huge issue.

Room and bed were comfortable. Towels really thick and fluffy, great. The pool and sauna/steam room were great. Just what we needed on a Sunday morning, and a calm vibe and good start to the day

The room could've had a lovely view over the river, but the windows were so filthy we couldn't see out at all. A bit sad on the back of a lovely room. Room was clean but some obvious things had been left behind from past guests, filter tips on the bedside table etc, nothing major though. Some of the staff were lovely but others pre-emptively hostile - not really a complaint as I am front desk staff at a hotel too for many years and I get it, just more of an observation. Man at the leisure desk was really lovely.

We stayed because we were going on the Caversham Princess Sunday lunch cruise and the hotel’s location was perfect for us, with a door leading straight out to the riverside and jetty. The rooms were comfortable, well equipped and appeared to have been recently refurbished. All the food we had was good - extensive menu and sandwiches and light bites available all day. The staff were kind and thoughtful. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Nothing.

I booked it as I wanted somewhere next to a river for the views. My wife's parents are struggling with mobility as they get older and I wanted to find somewhere with a river view and flat walk along the riverside. It was perfect for that.

The only real problem was the access to the river. As they have mobility issues the steps were very awkward as they are quite steep. The ramp at the front meant a longer walk for them and made the walk along the river shorter due to the extra distance. It would be good to have a ramp at the rear of the hotel to give them a shorter walk to the river for a walk. Also the closer lift for access to the restaurant area was out of action. I that is unforseen but did make a longer walk to the restaurant area.
