Made to feel welcome straight away. Staff found me a spot to park my motorcycle, with a security floor anchor to lock to. They also had CCTV protecting the parking area. I booked a double room, which had plenty of space, a view over the sea and a great bathroom. I ate in-house for an evening meal, which was fine and had a drink. Breakfast was freshly cooked and tasty. The whole hotel seemed spotlessly clean and the staff friendly. Took a long walk down the sea front which was very refreshing.

I didn't like having to leave, but alas, all good things come to an end.

Great views from our top floor room. Spacious with plenty of storage. TV, tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries, hairdryer and full length mirror. Plenty of pillows and cushions. Comfy bed. Nice and quiet. Great breakfast 😋 brilliant fried bread, best we've had! Filter coffee, juice, cereal, toast and full cooked english. Nice bar area and bar meals served until 8pm, great crispy chips! On road parking, no problem. You need a permit for a refundable £10 from reception. Staff all lovely. Would stay again.

Shower wasn't very powerful and the shower head kept falling so that we struggled to get underneath the water. A minor point really but easily fixed. The lights behind the headboard were a nuisance. You couldn't sit in bed without banging your head on them. They also got quite hot and couldn't be switched off individually.

Spotless room, lovely bathroom, very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. We ate both evening in the bar and the food was good value and very tasty. The room had a lovely sea view. The bed was comfortable, and the whirlpool bath was an added bonus. We will definitely return and highly recommend The Claxton Hotel as a great base for the North Yorkshire coast 👍

The only small niggle was the TV. The WiFi connection kept disconnecting, but it wasn't a big issue and we didn't mention it.

room was clean the staff friendly breakfast was of a good quality and right on the beach and we will be going back to stay there soon could not really fault it.

i cannot fault the hotel but seeing as i went with booking .com i could not get access to my room till 3pm if i had booked direct it was 12pm,also would have been 27 pound cheaper.

The rooms were clean and functional and the breakfast was of a high standard. Most of the staff were welcoming and friendly. The location was good in some respects in that it was near to the town centre providing easy access to other outlets, facilities and places of interest.

The hotel , although functional, the communal areas were very dated and tired. Room 13 suffered from a cramped sleeping area but in contrast, a large shower room but no bath. There was very little in the way of hanging space. Parking was a nightmare with very few available private/specific spaces and no “residential “ spaces for guests on the immediate street. There was certainly no Blue Badge slots to be found anywhere nearby.

Our room was very clean, very tidy, warm and perfect for our needs. Breakfast was perfect, good choice of foods, the breakfast room was spotless, the staff couldn't have been more helpful, attentive without being over bearing, cleared vacated tables instantly, cooked food arrived quickly, staff were very pleasant to deal with and we had a laugh with them which was lovely. We have no negative comments about anything. The hotel itself as a whole was lovely, all the staff we dealt with were lovely, answered every question without hesitation or having to ask someone else. I suppose if I had one negative it was the lack of parking but then again there was plenty in the road opposite so not really a big deal and not a lot you can do about that. So just a comment not a complaint. I acnnot think of anything to complain about. We had a lovely stay, the hotel was lovely and made even more enjoyable by the lovely staff, everyone of them. I can talk for England and I talk to anyone and everyone and your staff were brilliant. Actually thinking about it, I would like to add that the ensuite was spotless, lovely shower, quite compact space (the ensuite room not the shower) but does the job fine and not worth spending money to alter. It was fine. Overall, one of the best stays my wife and I have had anywhere in 52 years of marriage and sometimes for an awful lot more money. Just keep on doing what you are doing. Thank you to the management and especially the staff for a lovely, very enjoyable stay. We will be back. Geoff

Rooms were basic but comfortable, all that was required really. Didnt use room service but house keeping were great, nothing too much trouble and very friendly. Breakfast selection was good, maybe a wider cereal selection would be good if you have children as they don't always want a cooked breakfast. Meals at the claxton are quite good, my children (20, 19, 18 and 11 yr olds) ate there a few times, obviously more expensive than eating out but you would expect that and portion size was good. We stayed monday to Monday and had no problems, a very enjoyable stay. Quite expensive as it was the school holidays but, I booked through booking.com so possibly would have been cheaper to book direct. Overall though, would recommend! 😀

The hotel let me check in quite early, and gave me a room with a sea view. The room was big enough for a one night stay and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Some guys in the next room were talking loudly until late, then banging on the walls through the night. Not a major issue, I assumed there was a bit of romance taking place. No fault of the hotel, although the walls must be a bit thin... The shower was difficult to get to a good temperature, but not impossible.

Convenient location that met our needs for our stay in the area. Friendly staff and good value breakfast

Shallow step on stairway - potential hazard for tripping over as no warning of it. Insufficient onsite parking - had some reservations about on street parking due to the number of lively pubs on the Main Street. Reading lights on bedroom provided insufficient lighting .
