The Angel in Wootton Bassett

On arrival at check in the hotel asked for my bank card to confirm booking they took the full amount again./ Only after checking my banking app I noticed I’d been charged again…still waiting for refund be very careful

The room was really comfortable, with a lovely bed and a good shower. Everything was very clean. We ate there in the evening. The food was excellent with the chef accommodating allergies and a very polite and helpful waiter. Breakfast was lovely with vegetarian and vegan options.

The rooms open up to a courtyard. Appreciate that the pub did clear the courtyard when it closed but there were a group of really noisy guests that came back at midnight and were out in the courtyard and running around outside the rooms until about 2am. There didn't seem to be any staff on site to manage the noise after hours. I think I would have felt a bit vulnerable if I'd been staying on my own. We couldn't find anyone to check us out in the morning, when we would have fed back about the noise the night before, so we just had to leave our key on the bar.

We stay here often and are usually very happy. However, on this occasion there were a couple of issues with the bathroom which did spoil our enjoyment. The sink plug mechanism was stuck in the closed position, which meant that any water run into the sink could not then be emptied. Housekeeping must surely have been aware of this issue when cleaning the bathroom. There was also no obvious way to close the open skylight in the extremely chilly bathroom.

The perfect location for visiting this small town. The Room was spacious, clean and well presented. We met the rest of the family in the pub and decided to stay for a meal. Food was great and so was the service.

Can’t really fault it…especially for the price. If being extremely picky the room was warmer than we would normally like and we couldn’t turn the heat down or open a window. However, I am sure if we had mentioned it to the staff they would have sorted something. All in all a wonderful stay and we would definitely book here again.

Location and friendliness of staff and other guests. Lovely big, comfortable bed! Room was clean and it was quiet. Had a lovely evening meal. The atmosphere in the hotel was relaxed and friendly and we would definitely return.

Window overlooked courtyard so had to keep blinds closed for privacy which meant no natural light. Shower head was weak and needs changing. Plug socket on one side of bed not working so no table lamp. Room needed more light.

Good location. Great for visiting our family nearby. Very good value for money. comfortable room. Everything you need for a short stay.

We like that the breakfast is optional, so we didn’t have it. Other family members reported that the breakfast service was slow and chaotic. It would be good if they offered a takeaway breakfast sandwich. You also need to be aware that there is no parking at the hotel. We parked on the large pay-and-display at the rear of the hotel. £5.80 for a full day. Only problem is you have to go and put another ticket on at 8am in the morning, or risk a parking ticket.

The Angel is a really nice place. The food is really good and the staff very helpful. We were offered breakfast but we were having lunch elsewhere so didn’t have it. We did have a brunch when we arrived which was excellent. It’s very central with a payment car park at the rear. Overnight is free.

Two things. We arrived back at the hotel just after 9pm for a nightcap before returning to our room to find the hotel closed. We didn’t see any signs or were told they would close then. The other thing, our room was way too warm. We turned the radiator off when we checked in, hoping the room would cool down. It didn’t so little sleep and having to open the door and window all night

Room was quite large with a good sized bathroom including bath with shower over. Room had a fridge with freezer box which was great as it was very hot. Nice big bottle of water in our room. Tea and coffee making facilities in our room.

We kept our blind and front window shut as the rooms are all on the same outside walkway so not particularly private, and are on an upper level above the pub’s garden. Just a minor point really as the room and bathroom were very good - we were out most of the time and only stayed one night.

Nicely decorated room, comfy clean bed, fridge in room great, nice hand soap & shower gel. Nice fresh towels (only 1 bath towel supplied for a couple). Lovely breakfast, friendly staff. Second time we've stayed and our booked to return in May with family members.

Stayed in room 22, bathroom needs some attention. Crack on bath surround, mouldy green shower trim, grout between some floor tiles dirty/stained, toilet was stained yellow in several places (looks like issue with the plastic finish - bit off putting), yucky grout under sink bowl, sink outlet hole grubby, big crack in toilet brush holder and not the cleanest. This surprised us as it's our 2nd stay here, so bit disappointing for a nearly £80 stay. The first room we stayed in bathroom was fine, no issues. Room details state Tea/Coffee Maker AND Electric Kettle which is misleading, as there no tea/coffee maker in the room. Other than that was a lovely room and we had a nice stay.

We went to the angel for a reunion so it was very convenient to stay. We had very nice food in the restaurant so didn’t have to go out anywhere else. The room was clean and the shower was hot and powerful.

The bathroom in our room (24) needed a few minor repairs ( bath panel was cracked, floor had some loose panels/ tiles) and the shower screen let water seep onto the floor. You have to fill in a breakfast request the night before stating the time you will be eating. But is was freshly cooked and although looked small was filling.
