This was day 10 of the coast to coast walk. It's a bit off the Wainwright trail but I walked it but I think they will pick you up. Room was lovely and very quiet. Nice real ales and food was lovely. Albeit that I could only manage the scotch egg starter and chips but it was stunning! Service brilliant and they took me back to the route next morning. And a bath!!!! I'd walked 20+ miles, just what I needed! Mix up with the payment due to my error which was resolved in such a nice friendly manner. Really reasonable rate too.

Not much I didn't like. If you utilised the pick up and drop off then it's an ideal place to stay on the coast to coast.

Solid pub that put on a good dinner and a great brekky. Room was spacious enough with a well appointed and good size bathroom. We were hiking the Coast to Coast walk and this is a bit off the trail but it was the only accom we could find in the area on the day and it was a pleasant surprise. After a great brekky, they supply a mini bus to ferry hikers back to the trail. I originally didn't want to stay here being so far off the trail but they made it so pleasant, I would do it again.

It's a bit off the C2C trail and there isn't much in the town but the pub can't help that.

We had previously stayed at The Wainstone's on our first trip after the first lock down during the pandemic and thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite the restrictions still in place. I was a little apprehensive that this trip might not live up to expectations, but needn't have worried! We had a great time, stopping for 2 nights, with a lovely room. The breakfasts and meals were fantastic (with generous portions). There was good parking for our motorbikes, and the hotel is located in a great spot for touring the North Yorkshire Moors, as we did.

The location was great, nice and and quiet. Nice village with a couple of other pubs. Lots of walking opportunities. Parking. Food was excellent. We had the 2 course meal option in the evening. Breakfast was also fabulous. We had the Yorkshire breakfast, but there were other options available.

Room a bit dated. Unfortunately, it was very windy that night, and the back gate wasn't secured and kept banging all night, right beneath our draughty window. So we were a bit sleep deprived.

Stayed at this great spot while walking the Coast To Coast walk. Hotel owner David offers an excellent property at a great value and is especially helpful to any hikers in the area. Wonderful, wonderful dinner in the evening, and their great breakfast service starts at 7 AM. They offer a shuttle pick up from the trail and transport to the hotel, then return in the morning. Take away lunches as well for hikers. Friendly, enthusiastic staff. The best stay of any of the nights on the beautiful Coast To Coast walk. Thank you, David for a wonderful experience.

The standard of service from all the staff at this hotel was really outstandingly good, the best I have experienced for a long time. I felt genuinely welcome and looked after, nothing was too much trouble. Hotel pick up and drop off service was perfect. Our room had a bath - after a long day that was a lovely treat.

The decor is a bit dated, everything is clean and in working order, just a bit old fashioned.

It was in a beautiful location, our room was comfortable and clean. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We had dinner there which was very enjoyable and so was the breakfast. They had an exceptional choice on the breakfast menu.

One small thing, before we had dinner there wasn’t really a proper bar area to sit in. But there is a separate bar which I suppose we could have used.

The booking in process was quick and easy, car parking was close by and plentiful. The breakfasts were exceptionally good, the evening meals were also good and with plenty of choice - value for money was extraordinary. Plenty of on tap beer choices too. The Hotel is in a very quiet village in the North Yorks National Park,

Whilst our room was extremely clean and well maintained the style was a little dated (not that it put us off), however in defence of the management the rooms are in the process of being modernised and the ones completed to date are wonderful.

Everything was fine. It was located nicely for our walks to the hills/mountains in the area. We were offered transport to start our walks but fortunately we had our car. Our room was cosy and bathroom and shower was great. Lovely breakfast and evening meals.

The double bed was rather small....that's it really..everything else was fine

The room was airy with a great sized bathroom. The latter had a bath, which was much appreciated after a long day walking. It was really clean, the beds were comfortable, Wi-Fi was good and the room was quiet so we had a great night’s sleep. The breakfast was great - a good choice and cooked well. Staff were friendly and helpful and even offered a packed lunch service for walkers.

Nothing to improve on. They know their market and cater for it really well.
