The staff are all very attentive. We asked if we could get gluten-free Welsh cakes instead of the usual complimentary Welsh cakes, and they brought up a whole selection of small gluten-free cakes. Everyone was very polite and professional. The breakfast selection in the Steak On 6 was amazing. Very impressed with all the food. The pool and sauna were maybe a little smaller than I was expecting, but the careful scheduling meant it never felt busy - you always had your own space. And I very much recommend their massage treatments. We had the hot stone massage, my first, and it was amazing.

If you drive there yourself, your entrance isn't very impressive - the back stairs/lift from an underground car park. I also spotted some staining and grime in the very corners of the bathroom, but that is nit picking.

We’ve stayed here on a few occasions when business leads us to South Wales. The resort is certainly impressive and we love the large scale of everything, the bar with pianist, the clubhouse restaurant and the sports bar (when open) all add to the stop over experience not offered by other corporate hotels. Breakfast is as comprehensive as you will find anywhere and is worth enjoying. Bedrooms in my experience (other day different) have been great and Elemis toiletries are a treat.

On this one occasion a waiter had the misfortune of pouring a whole pint over a colleague. It transpired that it was his first day but the training clearly didn’t lead to what should be done about it. Although the spillage was cleaned up, he never raised it with management and even when we did, we were offered a £25 discount from a £100 food/drink bill which is unlikely to cover dry cleaning bills and of course, it’s not like you bring many changes of footwear when on business. Other than that, everything was great at Celtic Manor

Fabulous building with spacious twin rooms

£20 to park overnight are you having a laugh? That’s a joke and reason not to book again. £160 for the room, £120 for dinner then robbed to park - disgrace

The helpful receptionist, Stef, who made arrangements for a round of golf the next morning despite it being quite late in the afternoon when I arrived. A very well appointed room with a lovely view. Strangely, there was no mini-bar, just an empty cupboard where I presume it was meant to be.

Getting my car out of the outdoor car park was a pain. The exit boom didn't work and there was no reply from the "Help" button. I just sat there for about 20 minutes until the boom gate mysteriously opened. Judging by the pile of abandoned car park tickets at the exit, I guess I was not the first to have that problem.

The hotel is extremely luxurious, without being pretentious. Staff are all friendly and attentive. There is a great choice of food - Pad in particular was a highlight. I also loved Merlin’s bar and could have stayed there for a week! everything was spotlessly clean, the bedroom was lovely and the bed super comfortable. I loved the little touches like the Elemis toiletries and the tea and coffee selections. breakfast was great, though expensive.

The app, and online booking system is awful. The app and digital key didn’t work and when you try to book swimming or dining it just comes up with error messages. We made a booking and had confirmation but when we arrived at the restaurant, they had no record of it. I also didn’t like the fact you have to book swimming as you never know when you may want to go. I understand this is to prevent overcrowding but even at times when it was apparently ‘fully booked’, in reality, it was half empty.

Room was nice with decent view. Very comfortable bed. Bathroom and fittings a little dated but spacious and very well serviced. Breakfast at Steak on Six was excellent. Gym and pool were outstanding. Golfing facilities obviously world class.

Coffee was awful, even by UK standards - needs a professional barista to be involved in training or making coffee. Expensive - I was there for work and was not paying but the hotel does not represent great value for money when compared to other resort hotels of a similar size.

Excellent facilities. Friendly staff. Lovely bed room with spotless shower, bath and w/c. Comfortable beds with lovely furnishings. Nice views over wooded hillside. Very clean bed linen, towels, robes etc. Breakfast is buffet style with a good choice of cereals, fruits, cold meats and pastries. Soya milk and almond milk on offer along with dairy products. The cooked breakfast was a little disappointing, the bacon and sausage were hard and dried, possibly from standing too long. We had a meal in the grill which again was a bit of a disappointment. We had simple battered hake and chips with mushy peas. The chips were good, the fish batter was oil sodden, though the fish inside was nice. As for the mushy peas, we were served a pale of pea water with no peas at all.

Dried hard bacon and sausage. Oily batter and pea free mushy peas.

All food was brilliant. Me and my wife ate at the grill on the 1 evening and it was really lovely. We thought the food was beautiful! We couldn’t have any spa treatments as it was fully booked but we used the facilities and they were great too. It’s such a big hotel we will definitely go back to explore more and eat at the other restaurants and hopefully get a spa treatment.

I didn’t like the fact we had to pay for parking overnight which was £20. It all cost enough as it was without adding things like that on the price. Its definitely somewhere you go for a treat if you got a good few ££ to spare though.

Complimentary room upgrade with balcony and an incredible bed ... complimentary bottle of wine, water bottles, and welshcakes ! Complimentary prosecco in Signature Lounge. And that was just the start ! The spa facilities were great Shuttle bus to The Grill restaurant, food was lovely but water was a little on the steep side. Lovely cocktails in merlyns bar. Black out curtains, amazing sleep for someone who doesn't sleep very well normally. Breakfast in Stea at Six was very lovely. It could have been a little hotter, but the selection and service was great . See you again soon :)

Parking £20 for 24 hours.

Was disappointed with the lack of bottled water in the room. Pillows were heavy and hard. Some of the furniture was tarnished, carpet was stained, the balcony was small and scruffy, and let down the excellent quality you otherwise present. My husband drinks real ale and was disappointed that there was none on the barrel only a choice of two bottles. Drinks were well over priced. Parking fees are ridiculous particularly given that you are located out of the way and really need a vehicle to get about and to get there. We ate in the Rafters, starter of belly pork was dry, main course was (lamb) was fab! Breakfast was superb, it became busy sometimes but staff managed brilliantly and there were excellent choices and plenty for all. Hotel grounds and facilities were excellent and well maintained. Staff were very friendly professional and helpful across all services. The overall service and ambience was excellent.

Generally liked everything just disappointed with some points as mentioned above.
