Staff was wonderful. Knowledgeable, helpful, pleasant and friendly. We had a great room with a beautiful view.

The bed was new, but too firm for us. Our stay was great. The only thing we were displeased with was the company we booked the room through; Booking.com. Their policies are ridiculous (Charging your credit card before you arrive, and therefore not allowing you to use a different card to pay for the room at check-in( They have no real live people in "customer service" to talk with. Not sure if there is any "customer service" at this company.

"C" welcomed us warmly and processed us efficiently; she was flexible to our travel needs, and we were given a spotless fireplace room with a private patio. "C" recommended a choice bottle of white wine, purchased in the lobby with two glasses; we enjoyed it out on the patio where she offered to turn on an outdoor fireplace for us - a great way to unwind after the trip from S.F. The hotel is on the quiet end of the beach, with direct access to vibrant tide pools and crystal collecting!

WiFi appeared to experience frequent bandwidth limitations, but may be due to the area's remoteness, not the hotel.

it’s was well situated for looking at the ocean and a lovely morning walk. breakfast came in a lovely basket so it could be taken to the beach if you wanted to. the pool area was lovely with a relaxing hot tub and fire pit areas. it’s a short drive or walk to the shops and restaurants

although the breakfast was lovely, it was a really limited choice - the hot option was a breakfast burrito and it had salsa on it with no choice to remove, so we had to go for the fruit and yoghurt option (which was lovely). I think it was expensive for the one night we stayed, but the coast is expensive anyway.

The property is family owned and they go above & beyond with personal touches. When you check in you have a choice of 3-4 different breakfast items and then they delivery those items to your room the following morning in a picnic basket. My husband & I had the breakfast burrito & our kids had the pastries and we all loved our breakfast! Also, the location is amazing, you’re literally right across the street from the ocean, beautiful!

Really no complaints. The only thing I would say is we had prepaid for our room and then found out the morning of our check in day that we would also have to pay a deposit equal to the full price of 1 night. We were on a 10 day road trip, so that threw a small wrinkle in things for us not realizing that extra cost beforehand. However they did say it would get refunded back the next day after check out and it did.

The location is excellent with a fabulous new boardwalk to explore the breathtaking coastline. A little bit more choice in the breakfast would make it more enjoyable. The reliance on boiled eggs is a bit limiting. The rooms are spacious and well laid out with front access and a private garden patio to the rear. The outdoor pool and spa were also welcome. We would happily return.

There is very little we would change, just the breakfast choice.

We liked the spacious room. The beds and pillows and bedding were very comfortable. The fireplace worked well to heat the room and the AC worked well also. The electric kettle and refrigerator were nicely tucked away in a closet. It was very quiet and the views of the ocean were spectacular. The shower was good with lots of hot water and the towels were nice.

The pocket door to the bathroom made a very loud scraping noise when opening it. Something very sticky had been spilled on the floor and my husband went to the office and got spray cleaner and paper towels to clean it up. While I love the idea of having breakfast delivered to the room, some of the food was not great. The "freshly baked" pastries were not very good. The breakfast burrito was very salty and not very tasty. The yogurt parfait with fresh fruit was good and the hard boiled eggs were okay.

First, The staff was most attentive, supportive, warm, and efficient! I especially love the gardens and plants that make a building into a cozy delightful place to be. I also really enjoyed the basket breakfast brought to our room! OneSmall thing was that they were repaving the parking lot and it was noisy when we first arrived. Not a big deal

Decor all fresh and clean and very tasteful, pool area beautiful with many colourful flowers and great to have the fire pit areas. Breakfast baskets a lovely touch and free coffee and cookies upon arrival an unexpected bonus. Location stunning as so close to the ocean.

It was a shame fire pit areas closed just after 9pm, although this does ensure quietness of rooms so it does have benefits. Breakfast was missing boiled eggs for the yoghurt parfait option but as my daughter wasn't too bothered about these we didn't query it.

Clean, comfortable and well located for Hearst Castle. The breakfast, delivered to the room each day, is a nice touch. My daughter enjoyed the heated pool. Parking was also adequate with no issues getting a spot. There were a number of charging points for EVs. Sea Otter Inn is great for a short stay but don’t expect too much from the surrounding area.

Not much in the surrounding area. Moonstone beach is outside of Cambria so you need to drive to get there, and there isn’t much there either.

Staff were super friendly, location is divine (right across the road from the ocean), room was comfortable and clean. Gas fireplace in the room was perfect as the night got a little chilly. Didn’t get to try the pool and spa but it looked lovely. Fantastic meal a few doors down at the moonstone bar & grill. The breakfast basket was a nice touch, chocolate croissant was amazing!

Bathroom was a tad outdated compared to the rest of the room but it was very clean, great shower pressure etc so really can’t complain!
