Sarah on reception was very friendly and helpful, she took our bags into storage for us when we arrived earlier that expected thus enabling us to walk around the town unhindered. Room was lovely, well decorated with nice fittings and very comfortable. Being European a kettle and more tea bags in the room would be appreciated. Overall we were very happy with location a few streets away from main shoping area so a little quieter and the quality of the room.

I imagine rooms could get warm in high temperatures as no air conditioning. A basic breakfast service , even a vending machine with croissants/ fruit would be appreciated

This was lodging number five on a two week road trip with my (former) significant other from San Marcos to San Francisco. The location is pretty good, as the Main Street is just a few minutes away and to get there is a simple walk both to the shops and restaurants and to the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful and the cookies and tea at reception are great. Nice room, the jacuzzi was a definite plus. Should I return to Carmel someday, I would likely stay here again.

Nitpicking, but the insulation of the room was quite limited which meant that returning from a walk, it would be quite cold in the room. That being said it was winter and it was colder than usual for that area. The "fireplace" did heat the room back up quite quickly.

Most of the hotels in Carmel at this price point are motel style. I liked this one because there were windows on the backside of the room so you could get a cross breeze. The rooms are also a generous size and nicely appointed.

They would not turn the outdoor fireplace on until 4 o’clock. Regardless of how chilly it was outside. Trivial in comparison to how nice the rooms are, but I thought I’d mention

This is a hidden gem. The inn really doesn't look like much from the outside, but when we opened the door to our room, my jaw dropped. It's easily the most beautiful hotel room we've ever seen in terms of the decor. Very elegant. The furnishings are a step above what you expect from a hotel room, which are usually pretty generic. The bed is like climbing into a cloud - very upscale bedding and just super-comfy. The location is perfect - easy walking distance to pretty much everything in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and to the beach. The staff is wonderful, and there are fresh baked complimentary cookies in the lobby every day, along with a nice firepit where we sat in the evenings with a glass of wine.

The only (minor) con was the shower in our room. The shower head comes out of the wall at a height where, at 5'8", I had to do a semi squat like I was sitting down in a chair in order to wash my hair. I can't imagine anyone taller being able to comfortably shower in there. Maybe other rooms have a different configuration, though?

Staff was very accommodating and helpful. The place was clean inside and outside. There was a selection of fresh cookies for us when we arrived. Many things to see, including the beach within walking distance. There are no parking complaints. They have a water bottle refill station outside and a fire pit. Good water pressure. Tea, coffee, warm cookies & fruit were available in the morning. We received a pair of thermos :) It was excellent!

location was great! nice to have parking, room was a nice size -- will request this room the chocolate mint cookies were amazing! Staff was quite nice and helpful.

our stay was in Dec and the bathroom was quite cold with no heat vents -- however, they brought a small space heater that worked just fine

The room was beautiful and clean and the fireplace was the perfect touch. The bathroom was so nice and spacious and the jet tub was fun. They thought of everything 2 luggage holders in the closet and real wine glasses with bottle , real coffee mugs with creamers. They had the lights on with music playing in our room when we arrived it was so nice. The location was excellent to our dinner restaurant and our breakfast spot. The staff was super friendly and they had flashlights and a lantern in the room just in case of the power went due to the storm and it did but it came back on quickly.

Everything was wonderful...However if I had to say one thing I would want them to fix was the door to the room. The door did not have weather stripping so when the Storm came in so did the wind. You could feel the wind through the door and it whistled liked a tea kettle all night long.

We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay at Candlelight Inn. I'm very discerning when booking accommodation and I research extensively, and we were very happy. The room was very ambient and spacious, it was very clean with comfortable beds, convenient parking right outside the door and a lovely outdoor fire in the evening. Reception staff were friendly and free cookies were offered. It was a lovely stroll into town for dinner, shopping and breakfast. I would highly recommend this property.

Bathrooms were tiny, which didn't bother us for just one night. A small price to pay for an otherwise terrific property.

A good location. Walkable to town, a good bar with food. Easy to park at the hotel. Nice modern room. Free cookies at reception. Water station. Coffee in the room. The fire pit outside is cute.

The room doors slam which was a shame. The motel style means cars park outside rooms and car alarms go off.
