Comfort Inn Carmel By the Sea

Great location - able to walk to all things downtown and to the beach. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Looks like they were recently re-modeled on the inside.

No air conditioning. No black out curtains.

Location is fantastic, right in central Carmel near Ocean Ave with all the shops and restaurants. There is a grocery/liquor store next door which was very convenient. It was definitely a bit of a rundown hotel compared to the other places in Carmel and yet was rather pricey (granted we were there for a holiday weekend), but we enjoyed our time there as we didn't spend much time in the room. The water pressure and temperature in the shower was fantastic. Everything else was meh.

The "breakfast" was a bit of a joke. Staff were helpful, and the hotel was quiet though.

The setting is charming and the location perfect. The walls are very thin so it was fairly noisy and a little hard to sleep. We appreciated the free breakfast which was very good. We loved not having to drive to town as parking was so hard

We went to go to the front desk on our way back from dinner and the man behind the door was screaming and swearing and throwing things. A little scary. We bypassed the front desk and went to our room and locked the door.

The rooms were renovated, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast is not very diversified (no eggs, cheese, cold meets, ...) but has the essential coffee, some pastries, cereals and a waffle machine :) The location is central to most shops and restaurants even though a bit further from the beach, however walkable. Considering it is Carmel by the Sea the price we had was excellent considering the quality of the Inn.

The breakfast room is relatively small and when with more that 5 or 6 guests it becomes difficult to walk around.

Great location, it seems the rooms were recently renovated and are in overall good condition. The breakfast was decent. The patio is nice with plants and flowers and has some outside sitting options.

Overall, the value-for-money is not high. Yes, it’s a good location and well maintained, but it’s a motel for a price of a hotel. The service we got at reception was not very pleasant, and it seemed they were tired of having guests.

Location was great, parking was easier then I thought. Staff was friendly. Food was ok. Price was high due to season. Room was clean, shower was great. We were going to a wedding so had to pay the high prices. $750 for 2 nights, tiny room, no AC, but windows could open.

Location was within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. Breakfast was great! Perfect location for surrounding tourist sights. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.

Noise coming from grocery story delivery trucks at 5 in the morning. When window was closed could barely hear.

Check in was easy with friendly staff at the front office. Hotel was conveniently located at the beginning of Ocean Ave., which is the main street where all the shops and restaurants are aligned, and the path to Carmel Beach. Our room on the second floor looked like it was recently renovated and had a nice desk, chair, dresser, TV, fridge, iron/board, hair dryer, toiletries, and coffeemaker w/coffee supplies. I loved the water pressure too from the shower! Beds were super comfortable and sheets soft! Rooms were clean and maintained daily which I appreciated. Bruno's Deli was conveniently located on the next block, and we got sandwiches from the Deli and a bottle of wine, which we are allowed to take to the beach and eat! Alcohol is allowed at Carmel Beach. There was also a small Park on the next block, which is great if you want to do Yoga or Tai Chi, or sit and read a book. The complimentary breakfast was grab and go style, similar to if you are getting something quick at 7-Eleven (coffee, juice, apples, reheatable breakfast sandwiches and egg tacos, cereal, and milk). Didn't love it but appreciated that it was there for convenience if we didn't have time to get something to eat.

From reading all the other reviews we did expect parking to be an issue, and it was true. But we got lucky and had a parking spot everytime we left and came back. It could get noisy from the cars and street traffic during the day, but at night it isn't so bad. It didn't bother us too much because we were out of the room most of the time. And it is true walls were a little thin. I could hear full conversations and next door neighbor yawning. LOL.. But with a few glasses of wine we fell asleep right away in our comfy bed. Would be nice to have the rod in the closet just a bit higher so clothes could be hung without running into luggage rack.
