A very pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was nice, with a comfortable bed and huge bathroom. While the hotel is old/historic the hotel is old, it is well-maintained. Some people seem to think this is not the case, but if you're looking for a brand new place, then this isn't the best choice.

The hotel restaurant is something of an oddity. In the weekend breakfast isn't included. We wanted to have a snack after arrival at 9:30 pm and were told that the restaurant closes at 9pm on Friday night! There are no coffee making facilities in the rooms because, apparently, the restaurant forbids it. At more than $300 per night, I expect to have coffee facilities in the room and don't give a damn what the restaurant says about it!

The location is unbeatable. You’re in the heart of it all. Easy walk access to everything Carmel has to offer. Staff is very helpful and the restaurant downstairs is yummy! Beds are very comfortable.

Wasn’t a kid friendly hotel. No elevators so hard to take up bags and or stroller with kids. However staff has no problem helping. When they say check in at 4, be prepared to be waiting well past 4. Definitely was a busy weekend so can see where they took a while but didn’t like being rushed since we were apart of a wedding and late to rehearsal due to it being a later check in. Very beautiful lobby with old feel, but scared my little ones were going to break things. I’ll come back but just as an adult trip next time. Rooms are small.

Lovely big room in great location. Everything about it was excellent. We had unusually warm room due to being near the kitchens but they bought us two fans which made all the difference. The staff were lovely to deal with and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Not the property but just as a warning, the car park was always full and we had to park on the street. That’s fine if you are out all day as it’s two hour max but make sure you don’t park the car the wrong way round like I did to make the boot more accesible to loading. In the 5 minutes it took to check out I got a $40 ticket for parking “against the flow of traffic”!! They seem super zealous in their little parking rules!

We liked the free parking, the hotel's location in the heart of downtown, and the various hotel entrances/exits on 3 different streets. We were in an upstairs room with a view (#27 - King Ocean View) and as it was a corner room we enjoyed having lots of windows. Lots of storage space for clothes (drawers, closet, hooks).

I was disappointed there was no free breakfast or even a voucher for discounted breakfast. The hotel staff told us when we checked in that we would have had to reserve directly through the hotel via phone (not via Booking.com, which we used) to get a breakfast discount and emphasized there are NO free breakfasts. Didn't see anything about this on the website ahead of time. Also, even though there was no housekeeping (towels/linens not changed during our stay) due to Covid policies, we were charged full price for the room without getting this service. Also the ice maker was broken so when we wanted ice we had to ask at the desk, then wait while someone would get it from the restaurant and give to us. Kind of tacky.

I loved the traditional feel to the place - quality! Small room but high ceiling with crown moulding, beveled mirrors, plantation blinds, lovely bedding and well appointed. I was with a group attending a wedding and I had the opportunity to view a number of rooms, so appreciated the ascetics of the entire property.

You can't beat the location but the parking was minimal. We relied on outside transportation so we would not lose our parking places in the lot provided.

Location is the best of any hotel as it is right on the corner of Ocean (Main Street) and Monte Verde. Very elegant and classy lobby and restaurant. Staff were attentive and courteous. We stayed in room 12 on the second floor that had a pretty decent view of the ocean. Hand soap was the best clear glycerin soap I’ve ever used. I wanted to buy some when we left.

Down sides: the walls are paper thin in that room. We could hear every word coming from the room to the right and to the left of us. I felt uncomfortable knowing that Brock and Kinsey in room 11 both forgot their toothpaste. I was tempted to slip a toothpaste under their door. Karl and Janet in room 13 were likely from the mid west as I could make out their accents through the walls. I’m not being facetious. The overnight parking was great to the north of the street. Don’t park on the south side as pine sap will drop all over your car. It’s hard to get off.

Perfect Location in the main area of Carmel! Beautiful property with a nice restaurant and bar on site.

Not necessarily a negative response but just be aware that if you are arriving to the property late, the car park will most likely be full and parking in Carmel in general is very tricky. Still it is a major positive that the property has a private carpark so just ensure that you are able to benefit!

Location is ideal. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Restaurant is good actually better than expected. Will consider stay again next time we visit Carmel.

Parking lot was full at the time we arrived (3:50pm Sunday). Had to carry suitcase up the stairs, didn't see the elevator. We booked 2 rooms but they were very far away from each other probably because the room types were different. The King suite we stayed in was in decent size, however there was street noise until 10:30pm.

We requested a lower floor level room which we were told originally would not be available. However at check in we were told we had a room on the 1st floor. As my wife is somewhat disabled this was very welcome. The reception staff could not have been nicer.

Like all hotels, staff seems to be limited. While not that inconvenient, housekeeping was limited to only at checkout not during our 3 night stay. Another casualty of the times was that the lovely complimentary buffet breakfast was no longer offered with breakfast now being strictly a la carte.

The location is unbeatable - right in the middle of the town and just a few minutes walk to the beach. There is parking included just behind the hotel plus a complementary breakfast included each morning which was perfectly suitable to start the day. The lobby is very nicely decorated and looks elegantly done. The staff were all very accommodating and helpful including in attending to an issue we had with our room.

Really the only thing we didn’t like about the hotel was our first room. We booked a standard double room based on the pictures on the website. However the room we were given was not anything like the pictures; it was very very outdated, it had no AC or even a ceiling fan, and just had a sad feeling about it. After speaking to the front desk we were able to upgrade to a queen room which was a much more pleasant place to be and to sleep.
