What I liked about this property the most started out with something that went wrong. I have a bad back and the brand new pillow top mattress in my room was too soft and cushy for me. I brought this to the attention of the manager, Celia, and she explained that they had just replaced all of the mattresses in that wing. She got back to me after a 1/2 hour and had me try the mattress in another room that was twice the as nice as my original room. It was only slightly better but worth a try. She gave me the upgraded room at no extra charge and saved my 45th anniversary weekend for me and my wife. Not only that but all of the staff were just wonderful and friendly.

In my new upgraded room, it came with a kitchenette. Being that this was all one room, like a studio apartment, when the brand new refrigerator cycled on and off, it was disturbing my sleep. But since, I wasn't using it to keep anything, I just pulled the plug until the morning. Also, I mentioned to Celia the manager, that I was now spoiled and not used to seeing commercials when watching movies on TV. See, told me that they are working on that. Very little to complain about really.

The location is perfect. It’s between the beach and the town on the main road, so everything is easily accessible. We parked our car and didn’t use it again until we left. A block away is a coffee shop and a fantastic bakery, with so many wonderful food options and incredible art galleries everywhere. The place itself is cute and very clean with lots of flowers and a blue and white motif. Although our room was facing the street it was still quiet and the bed was comfortable. There was a mini fridge and coffee maker in the room. No microwave though. The shower had super hot water (appreciated!) A light breakfast was included (cereal, yogurt, pastries). Overall a great place to stay!

Being January, it was really cold and our room was quite drafty around the windows. We kept the shutters closed, the heater setting up and were very glad to have the lovely fireplace as well!

The room was extremely comfortable with lots of space and a charming table setting next to the window.

The single-use cutlery, plates and prepackaged food items at breakfast create a lot of waste. There are no glasses in the room, only paper cups. We now bring our own plates, cups, fruit etc. toast a couple of bagels and picnic in the room at the charming table.

The inn is very charming with a warm, intimate feel. It still feels like the California coast, however, because the rooms are in different buildings, all with doors to the outside, nestled into the landscape. Best of all, the inn is a few minutes walk down to the beach. You can hear the ocean from where you are staying.

There wasn't anything.

Perfect location - no better! Close to beach, shopping and restaurants! Great room and nice pool - breakfast was fine. Love, love the flowers! Reception area is very nice as is the breakfast room. Clean room and modernized. It could use some nice prints on the walls.

More decor in the room. Another table to put things on could be nice.

Location is really good, quite and comfortable even though it's right there closed by the street.

It's a bit old... I can tell by the carpet and it has a distinct smell (but not stinky!) ,maybe because you can't open the window which there's few of them. But our room is very clean!

The location was perfect - close to restaurants and shops but also the beach. The flower gardens are gorgeous and the architecture charming. Our room had windows on two sides with a lovely view out to the courtyard and trees. One of the reception staff was very friendly and helpful with advice on good restaurants, walks, etc. The heating was excellent and quick, the bathroom modern with an excellent shower. The linen was high quality.

The coffee maker made terrible coffee and there was no provision for making tea. There were no extras like cookies or snacks or wine as we have often had at other heritage inns. The television coverage was minimal and the Wifi coverage was variable.

The location is in the heart of downtown Carmel and walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants. The inn is very quaint, the gardens are lovely and staff is very helpful.

Parking can be difficult as there are no assigned spaces for the inn. We were able to find convenient parking spaces during the busy Labor Day weekend. Traffic around the inn can be heavy due to downtown and the beach being right there. Those outweigh parking issues.

Friendly, efficient service/registration Downtown walk to shops & restaurants, drive to beach The upgraded me to a 3 bedroom (!!) Chalet with private parking. Otherwise get there early for parking. Which isn't abundant, but once you register and unload, street parking is probably OK The Chalet had all amenities including real flame automatic ( no fuss or mess or danger) fire place. Comfy and super clean. Quiet, great bathroom and shower. A well organized and run property at a great price for this luxury ,(I mean.it IS Carmel) location.

Absolutely nothing not to like.
