This place was perfect for a little getaway. We brought our fuzzy munchkin, and we were all very comfortable. The bed was amazing and the staff was super friendly and polite. Our coffee machine had an issue, and a casual mention to the front desk was met with offering us a new machine. The pool is on the small side but I was the only one in it and felt like a queen! Also, the pool was nice and warm- perfect for a cold day.. I don't think it's heated, I might have just got lucky with the temperature. The room is bigger than standard hotel rooms, nice clean bathroom and they have parking. In addition, the location is ideal for being in the center of it all.

The place is on the older side, but there is nothing to warrant an issue. It is apparent that they maintain the building regularly. I liked my stay here.

A hotel that allows pets! There is an additional daily pet fee during your stay. As you already know, Carmel is very pet/dog friendly. We went there with our pup over the 4th of July weekend. There are NO fireworks in Carmel - exactly what we wanted to keep our dog calm and relaxed. Our hotel room was spacious to move around and fit in a dog bed. The Dutch double doors were unexpected and unique (something we have never seen in our many years of travel). The Carmel weather was cool and fantastics escape from the summer heat. We did not use the jets in the large bathtubs. We loved that there was a microwave, refrigerator, and Keurig coffee. As everyone is raving about, it is always nice to come back in the afternoon to freshly baked cookies (chocolate chip, double chocolate, and oatmeal were the ones we got to try). The location is unbeatable. It's in a quiet part of town, but walk two blocks to the Main Street (Ocean Ave) to the shops and about a 10-block downhill walk to the beach. We never moved our car from the parking lot because we walked everywhere. We also rented bikes to ride along the hwy 8 and 17 Mile drive (if you ride in bikes, you don't pay the entrance fee that are charged to cars). The room was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful!

Nothing. Well, maybe that we had to leave at the end of our vacation and head back home. We would like to come back!

The staff were very helpful, when we arrived earlier than the check in time. One of the ladies came back and said they were working on our room. We waited for approximately 15 minutes and it was ready. The suite was perfect and it was close to the restaurant we had reservations at. Overall I would definitely go back the this hotel. The parking was extremely easy and we saw a lot of hotels while walking around and they had no parking right by their doors.

I have nothing bad to say except maybe the front room could have use a ceiling fan so it can cool off easier. We just left the door open for a few minutes and that helped. The bedroom had windows and a ceiling fan and it was prefect for sleeping.

My expectations were totally exceeded and my guests agreed as well! This inn looks and sounds a bit like it could feel like a motel so I hesitated to book it for a getaway, but I'm so glad I did and I was wrong! The rooms are massive and have fireplaces, dining table, large bathroom, and very comfortable beds (like Marriott level bed). I loved the dutch doors which can open half way or all the way - so unique and wonderful to enjoy the carmel weather. The pool is an excellent feature and rare in Carmel. Location is fantastic, short 2 blocks to main road and 5 blocks to the beach (not NYC blocks). The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had stayed at Pine Inn on a prior visit and was sad that they were fully booked and I had to find an alternative, but after staying at Sven's I feel lucky - it's just as nice an experience, and arguably better, at a great price. If you're on the fence, book Sven's!

The fireplace in one of our rooms wasn't working (but it was warm so we also didn't ask staff to take a look at it), also no breakfast but also wasn't expecting breakfast option.

Staff were friendly and really helpful. Great to have free coffee, cookies and water available at reception - an easy, quick way to start the day before you find somewhere for breakfast! We had a pet frendly room which was larger I think than some others and on a corner, so windows on 2 walls and private as it was raised up from the street. The bed was super comfy and the room had everything you would need in it. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Would also recommend the pub across the road - Brophys Tavern - great food and drink.

Cleanliness, design, and layout of our room (suite) was excellent. Although we traveled without our dog this time, their pet policy (accept large dogs, reasonable pricing - $25) will be an incentive for us to book here again in the future.

the property was in a great location in the middle of town, easy to walk everywhere. I also love that the property had a pool!

even though we walked past many other rooms that were spacious, our room (the least expensive) was tiny. I know I am especially sensitive but there was an area in the room maybe in the wicker bed frame that smelled dusty. the room was clean it was just one specific area that made my nose twitch. also, the pool was heated, but it was pretty cool. not cold and I know the heater was on, but it was too cool for my liking.

For the reasonable price, I was pleasantly surprised with how comfortable and well appointed my room was AND the elevated view of the hilly neighborhood from my window was a real plus. The location is perfect for a quick walk to the heart of Carmel, while also being peaceful and quiet when you return to your room. The front desk person (really wish I could remember her name!) was extremely welcoming, helpful, and genuinely friendly.

We arrived after dark, and the person checking us in was so accommodating and kind. He even offered to let us keep our bikes in a back room so we didn't have to carry them downstairs to our room. Our hotel suite was large, very clean and adorable - we loved the working gas fireplace! The hotel seemed fairly full but it was very quiet. The location is also fabulous! We felt like we were close to the heart of the action without it being too loud or busy outside.

A lovely property in a really good location to have a visit to Carmel. The hotel was only 2 story and surrounded the pool and beautiful gardens. The room had a coffee machine, tv and a super comfy bed. The bathroom was a good size with a shower. The staff were friendly and welcoming at check in and out times and they provided coffee, tea and water in the lobby along with cookies. Free parking was beneficial. The shops and restaurants of Carmel were a 5 minute walk away and it was a beautiful little town

There wasn’t anything we disliked about the hotel, would thoroughly recommend!
