Great location and comfortable bed! I could see the ocean from the view of my window. The hostel is surrounded by an amazing surfing community and ideal for any aspiring beach bum.

I was aware of this before I booked, but it does sit above a noisy bar. During the off season it’s always quiet past midnight, but if you like to go to bed early this will be a problem. During the summer the bars stay open until 2am. I didn’t have a problem with this, but I did want to give potential travelers a heads up.

Well run establishment. I loved the “international college student traveler’s” vibe. It took me back to college dorm life. Amazing experience!!! Staff was professional, positive, courteous, helpful, & motivated. The steep stairs were an issue for me as a disabled person, but it was still worth staying. Great location!!! Great view!!! Great price!!! Great staff!!! Great guests!!! My expectations were exceeded. I had a great time. Thank you!!!

An elevator would be nice. But it looked like an old building. Not sure if that’s possible. Fitted sheets kept slipping off the mattress exposing the plastic protective cover underneath. I tried extending my stay but there wasn’t any availability.

Staff and people is very nice, some activities will be hold here. We will talk and discuss many thing. This is a safety district, no homeless around. You can find a drink at night since some bar is nearby.

Some noise at night since many bar around here but it is expected. You need to walk 15 mins to Free Street parking but this is LA, I know parking is difficult to be found so it is acceptable. The shower room install a auto light but it will be auto turn off when you showering. Overall, it is good hostel and suitable for talkative person.

Awesome short stay. We came to visit local friends and therefore didn't hang out with other guests or the team but everyone was at all times nice and friendly to four mid-40 guys. Location could not be better, right at the beach pier in between pubs, restaurants and shops. 30 seconds to a beer tap. 60 seconds till you jump into the waves. Bikes and boards available for rent.

It's not really an issue but I have to write something in this box... the party DJ downstairs in the Safehouse was a bass addict. We loved it until we tried to sleep ;) so weekend guests either party till the end or learn how to sleep while the floor is vibrating.

Amazing location, could see ocean and beach from the room. On the pier. Staff really nice and friendly. Breakfast options were nice (toast with jam/peanut butter, eggs, pancakes, coffee) In reception they have earplugs and sunscreen left by previous tenants in case you run out of yours.

On the weekends noises were very loud. It does say in the description that it will be loud, they do not lie xD have earplugs (can ask from reception too)

I stayed here last year. Still as good as i remember. Great location. Right where the action is at Hermosa Beach. Lots of cheap options to eat nearby, as well as convenience stores. Beds were comfy. Wifi is reliable. There’s free breakfast. Very basic (bread, PB and Jam, cereals, bananas, pancake mix) but hey it’s free.

It’s right above several bars so it can be noisy until the bars close. I didn’t mind because i sleep late. Also the kitchen, eating areas, and toilets can be dirty at times. May need to clean more often.

- The location is absolutely amazing, right by the beach and all restaurants. - The hotel seems very safe, doors are locked at all times and to be used with your hotel room key. Staff is presented for long hours. - The staff was super friendly, kind and very helpful. - It's very affordable stay at a lovely location, so for what we were looking for (to sleep and have an occasional shower), it was absolutely great! - Be aware that the bathrooms/showers are joined for all, but didn't seem to bother us. - The bed was very comfy, there was TV in the room and heater if it got cold.

What can I say. It was better than I expected. The stairs were a pain, but I made it work. The staff is wonderful. Everyone is attentive and nice. I can get a bit loud on the weekend nights, but that is also part of it's charm. Nice shopping and a ton of bars and restaurants down stairs. The beach is right outside the front door. Unless there is some particular place you need to go, staying right here for the duration would be just fine. I stayed four nights, didn't want to leave. K

Something needs to be done about parking for hotel/hostel guests. I got a ticket every night. $38. each time. Even in the handicapped parking. That makes my room rate closer to $140 a night instead of the $100 I expected. The closest free parking is 10 blocks away. I am elderly and handicapped. I cannot walk the 10 blocks several times a day. And I can't move my car at 4-5 in the morning. Maybe those of us who are overnighters could put our reservations notice in the car window, just like the metered tags. This is the one thing that will keep me from coming back next year.

The bar below us is well a bar.. 😂 but if you can sleep through it or sleep late it's cool I guess. The beach is chillin. My view from my room is the ocean shore which for 50 bucks you just can't get here in LA..so they hit that with a win.

Just the bar.. 😂 but I don't drink and I prefer it s little more quiet at my normal sleeping time. 8-9pm.. call me old school 🤷

Great location close to the beach and the main drag with restaurants, bars and shops right outside. The room was comfortable with ensuite shower and WC. The shared kitchen and breakfast room were clean and tidy and the hosts provided pancake mix which was brilliant.

The cleaning standard wasn’t great in the room or the en-suite shower. Quite noisy at night due to the location so not good for light sleepers.
