Location, location, location! As someone who likes to travel with their dog, here they not only allow them, they are welcomed as invited guests! This was our second Labor Day Weekend at OVI, and we loved it. The new Beach Bus Diner was a great addition. The desk staff are wonderful. The overall atmosphere is very chill. Everything you could need or want for the weekend is only minutes away by foot. We parked the car on Friday and didn't move it again until Monday other than to move it closer to our room.

Parking is tight. There is only one spot for each room, so keep your fingers crossed that you can fit your car into whatever is open when you arrive. Our toilet rocked back and forth pretty badly each time you got up from using it. It really needs a new wax ring installed, to be reset, and then properly caulked. The room and bathroom were perfectly clean, but the bathroom reaked of sewer gas. This is no doubt why.

Check-in was very pleasant and easy; we had a downstairs room with a terrace but no view of the ocean. I believe some upstairs rooms may have this. The bathroom was a bit old fashioned. It's certainly not a luxury hotel. It is however on the beach, and you can walk to the beach easily. It's a dog friendly beach and it's fun to watch all the people bring their dogs. The dogs are really happy to be running around on the sand and in the water. And now, no unpleasant surprises when walking around, it was clean. The neighborhood is relaxed and you can walk to dinner and back easily. Sort of a 1950s beach town vibe.

The bathroom is run down, but then of course the place would probably double in price. It's expensive already, but would be even more so. But everything is relative and given the context it was probably the best value in town.

I ❤️ love love love the fact that I found a place this close to the beach! And if need be, dogs are welcomed! I don't mind! Little Ramona 🐕 was included!! Dog run/play area kept clean! Bathing area for dogs!! Staff nice and friendly!! Getting remodeled so I can't wait to see results!! Love the landscape! Succulents everywhere! 🌵 should sell cuttings 🤔 on-site food truck/trailer open but I've yet to try!! Soon! Pet lovers welcome! I'm saying no more! Can't brag too much and have it overbooked!! 🌴 🍻 🍾🍷🍸🍹

So I didn't like paying $15 extra for parking!! So ask beforehand in case it's now included. Hopefully they'll have coffee available next time. If parking on streets read all signs! Street sweeping days!! We did notice a small sign at beach saying waters contaminated. Although we didn't go in water, alot of dogs did. Is it safe?? Double check

The price and proximity. It’s pet friendly, but this trip I didn’t take my dog. It was just a quick, gotta take my friend to the airport trip. But I definitely want to return with my husband and dog because it’s right next to a dog beach, so it’s absolutely perfect for a family trip. Parking was $15 a day plus tax, but you were basically guaranteed a spot in front of your room. Very nice location and within walking distance from food and coffee.

The water in the bathroom had a sewage smell, not sure if it was the water of the area or something was off with our room. Forgot to mention to front desk but just used our water bottles to wash our face and brush our teeth, because we are not there long enough to need to shower.

You can see the beach from your room. My room had a balcony. We had dinner on the balcony, which was cool and cute! The beach is like a hop, skip, and jump away. It has a rustic feel and they have a food truck! If you have a dog you can bring your dog. I was impressed that this is a dog friendly hotel and area, but it doesn't smell like dogs. Amazing location, amazing price! There's is a very active social scene at night.

Some of the features in the room look a little dated, but it looks like they're remodeling, room by room. There is a guy who was also next to the stairs smoking like a chimney. Every time we left and returned he was there. He was friendly enough, but I don't know. As a woman traveling with small kids, he triggered my radar.

Our suite was quite large, and comfortable. It was nice to be able to watch the sunset from our large balcony. The location was good as expected. And they are renovating more rooms so it will only get better. NOTE: the photo I have included of the back of the motel shows a Bible that I did not put there on the ground but was there, which is why I took the picture. I did not see a Bible in our hotel room and have no idea if the Bible came from there.

Even though we had a full small kitchen there were no plates or silverware or cups at all except for just a few paper cups. If somebody has a room that has all of these amenities they're almost useless if you don't provide a few sets of plates and silverware. Even if it's disposable. The shower stall did not have a place to put the shampoo or soap so had to leave it on the sink outside. A small tray in the shower itself would help.

The location cannot be beat with easy access to the ocean and in a fun neighborhood. The staff were all outstanding and so helpful - they really went above and beyond to help make my stay stress free! The new "diner" outside was a great touch and served good food at a reasonable price.

The floor to our room was dirty - I know it is a beach hotel and somewhat to be expected that sand and dirt would be around, but walking on the floors should not make my feet black from the dirt. I didn't say anything to have it remedied (it wasn't that big of a deal to me), just made sure to wear socks in the room.

Great location, right next to the beach. Staff members were friendly. The little balcony was enjoyable. We were very centrally located, not far from the attractions we drove to each day. We were able to walk to restaurants and shops in the neighborhood. Every morning on my walk I could see surfers doing their thing at seven. To get to be right next to the beach in San Diego for a reasonable price was really nice. And the heated pool was a bonus. Some trim painting was going on outside, which was good to see. Also, great to have a fridge and microwave. The beds were comfortable.

The baseboards in the bathroom area were tired and needed a bit of sprucing up. Other than that the room was nice.

Perfect place to access Ocean and Dog beach. If there is no beach parking, no problem just walk, 5 mins.. This is an old hotel that we have stayed at for 35 yrs.. There has been improvements,. But perfect for kids and dogs...

Parking fee! 15 bucks a night... I guess they have to makeup for the crazy California taxes. They say there charging this to keep beach parking non customers out. I guess if you don't like it go somewhere else. And there's plenty of full booking days here.

Location is so perfect for getting around by car to get to MB or PB plus the freeway. With easy access to the public beach , tennis courts , walk bike , swim it was a great spot.So fun to walk to the designated off/leash dog beach and watch all the cavorting in sand and waves!

It’s location is in the flight path for SD airport which is a busy place. Flights out stop by 11 pm or so and begin before 7 a.m but not bad at all . Like a lot of places in Ocean Beach and Point Loma - it’s a multi million dollar property .
