A hostel right where you need it, a 2-minute walk from Mission Beach, numerous restaurants, Starbucks, souvenir stores and Belmont Park. Plenty of free public parking around the hostel. Entrance to the hostel and room is secured by a code. Although very small, the hostel has beautiful, spacious private and comfy rooms (which we had), dormitories, a lounge, a mini patio and a very small self-service kitchen. Respect for nighttime quiet is one of the guests' top priorities. In fact, most of them seem to be workers, not tourists, so they need a good night sleep. The downside is that the common areas are really small and you end up stepping on each other. Also, a little dusting could go a long way. Alex and the "long red hair lady" were friendly with us (the other staff members, not that much!!). What's more, Alex accepted my small Amazon packets a few days before our arrival. Last but not least, the hostel offers a copious and tasty breakfast. Hotel room price is right for the area.

Of course it is not cheap due to its outstanding location ( however I stayed in one of the single rooms which were far more expensive than the dorms) but it is super clean, very authentic, well self organized and the staff is very nice. Perfect accommodation for young people traveling on their own.
There is a tiny lack of security. Generic door codes are used which is fine but the computer and the software of the booking system at the front desk (with which the bookings etc. are managed) is always unlocked even when the front desk is unpossessed. Of course this does not directly impact the guests experience but is a huge IT security risk as someone with decent computer knowledge …maybe sth for the manager to fix as the staff said even they don’t know the credentials of the computer from their manager?!

By far the nicest hostel I stayed in while traveling California for 3 weeks. Super friendly and helpful stuff, place is super clean, location is great. Interior design is cozy and shared facilities were all super nice. Also activities were being offered. There were lockers available, luggage storage available and I was welcome to shower after check-out to go to the airport all refreshed. Best thing for me though: I always felt I could reach out 24/7 with any concern that may arise. Felt super safe and had a very good time.
As other people mentioned before there is no AC in the rooms but since I‘m from Germany and we rarely use ACs that was NBD. We left the window open so fresh air came in and there was also a fan to cool the room down a bit.

The location is the great highlight of the Hostel! It is located right in front of an amusement park and a five-minute walk to the beach! Cleaning is very present and the number of bathrooms helps, due to the number of rooms. Who wants to smoke, there is an outside area (smoking is harmful to health). The bed is comfortable, as well as the pillow and the locker is the coolest I've ever seen in a Hostel, congratulations to whoever made the design! Regarding breakfast, it is completely self service, you prepare what you are going to eat with options ranging from pancakes to scrambled eggs and coffee with good cream! Below the Hostel there is a Mexican snack bar, the place is very busy and if you arrive hungry like me, it's good to gain energy! And finally, the kitchen is well equipped!
The beds could have a curtain to block the light from the window and minimize the impact when they turn on the light when entering the room. Breakfast could have more options like two fruits. The cost benefit is a little out of the Hostel standard since it is high!

Barb checked me in and was my favorite and id say the most personable staff mamber. She was very easy going and made the experience amazing from checking in and a friendly face to bump elbows with in the kitchen. Some confussion in the system did make me end up loosing one days stay Or maybe the MANAGER DIDNT DO WHAT SHE SAID SHE WAS GOING TO DO in correcting the booking on my stay. But overall it was an amazing and a positive vibe great location with many attractions near by i do plan on returning to this location in the VERY near future..
The front door is not surfboard friendly and may damage gear entering and exiting.

The location is top-notch but what really brings this place to the spotlight is its people! it truly feels like a little family. The hostal is not so big so there aren’t tones of room and therefore not so many people sharing the same space. This is perfect because you do get to see the same people daily and if you are solo traveling you’ll feel like you are not completely alone. People won’t bother you if you are more of an introvert but it is a safe place for you to talk, meet new friends! I highly recommend anyone to stay here.
the restrooms were a bit small

My best friend and I were there on February, it was our first time staying at an hostel and we loved it. The staff is very friendly. We stayed in a room to be shared with other 2 girls. Rooms are clean, comfortable beds with lockers to keep your stuff. We were surprised they had towels for you to use, bathrooms are always clean and showers have hot water. The kitchen is just exactly what you need, nothing fancy, just a nice kitchen with all what you need. Big stove, big fridge to keep your food. Location is away from downtown but it's easy to access to public transport to explore around. I will definitely stay there next time.

Lovely interior, cute common area. The location was perfect at the beach, some restaurants nearby and some activities were offered every day.
My room faced the backyard and when the smockers were outside, i had the smell in my room. In general quite expensive for what it was but I think this is normal in san diego.

Great location near beach, food, and a rollercoaster! Staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. They even had activities and a BBQ dinner for all the guests. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone on a budget!
Showers were small but it was expected beings it was a old hotel.
