The Dana on Mission Bay

I do love staying here. The rooms are a great size for families. We love having a balcony and being able to park near our room as well. Also we love the Firefly Eatery for dinner, it’s one of our favorite places to eat when in San Diego.

A lot of the rooms views are blocked by trees. A let down was that there’s parking for just anyone to come to the bay. One day there was a couple fouling around under a blanket in plain sight and another night we had a party right outside our balcony of at least 20 people blaring music, eating and yelling until really late. We called the front desk but they said they couldn’t do anything if it wasn’t right next to the room.

great location. we visited San Diego for 3 days and everyone was within 15-20 minutes. next to sea world that we loved. rooms very good size and clean. liked the high ceiling (2nd floor). Kids used ping pong tables and pool. movie night by the pool is a great idea. water sports are right on the bay but unfortunately we didn’t have time to use it.

after all the fees - resort fee and $30 parking - the cost was a little high. breakfast was expensive 22 per adult and 12 per child so we opted out to go somewhere else but it would be nice to grab something in the hotel at a better price.

This is a nice spot to stay. Right on the marina with lovely grounds. Only a couple minutes to the beach and easy access to the freeway. Even with traffic, never took more that 20 minutes to get where we wanted. We were total tourists and saw old town, went on a bay cruise and toured the Midway and of course beach time everyday.. Pools were really nice with towels provided. Rooms were clean and comfy. Beds were perfect, not too hard or soft.

Rooms were a little tight for 4 of us and our luggage. But we only showered and slept there so it wasn’t bad.

Bathroom had cobwebs behind door and looked like termites on the door frame. No ice machine worked on the property.

The room was a big enough for my group of 5. We had a balcony with a beautiful view of Mission Bay. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. We used the hot tub that evening and it was a bit crowded, as was the pool but the towels were well stocked and the area was clear of any debris. It was a nice atmosphere. This hotel is very family friendly and the location is great for many activities both on and off the water. I would consider staying again, maybe in the off season, as prices in the summer are pretty expensive.

The hot tub could have been hotter. Parking is a little challenging but it was high season in San Diego so the hotel was full.

- location is great! - the facilities are beautiful and clean - beds are comfortable

- check in was a little disorganized - difficult to get a refill on supplies now that the rooms only serviced a couple times a week

Very friendly staff in lobby and restaurant. The Firefly had a great menu and food! We were given lots of information including addresses and location for tourist type of things which helped tremendously when using Uber and Lyft. The pools and hot tubs are really nice and clean and the view of Mission Bay was wonderful. Kudos to housekeeping as well.

Since it's out of the way we had to use Lyft for all our excursions which really adds up so I would have liked shuttle service into town maybe once a day. Also the breakfast was only a buffet which we don't prefer. Would love an ala carte breakfast.

Staff were accommodating to give us two adjoining rooms for our kids. Rooms were clean and pool was very nice. Pool security guard was very professional and nice. We also liked the ping-pong tables and pool towels to use easily.

Hot tub was a bit too hot. I would guess it was over 103 degrees (recommended). Comforter was a bit rough to sleep with. I would suggest a fluffier comforter. Also, the carpets should really be cleaned more often. A cleanliness suggestion: Our feet were almost black from walking barefoot on them after showering. We ended up keeping our shoes on.

It is in a beautiful setting.

The rooms need an upgrade. Safe didn’t work. Mattress was lumpy and noisy.

Love this hotel. Convenient shuttle to seaworld and boat rentals. Nice restaurant on site. Love the ping pong table near the main pool.

Pillow selection could have been better (left a crick in my neck). All of the pillows were thick. Some confusion with hotel wanting to double charge for resort fee (I paid this in advance thru booking.com but hotel was trying to charge during check in).
