The hotel is in a great location on Union Square, the rooms were big and clean, we were in the historic building so they weren’t modern but had everything you needed.

It’s overpriced for what it is but you get that a lot in San Francisco, there is also a City Tax charge per night that booking.com don’t advise you about.

Great location. So close the Union Square and cable car. Good restaurants in walking distance. Loved the business centre, really cosy and warm.

Floors very creaky, could hear every step from the room above. Guest must have been pacing day and night and we could hear the walking all day. Also, guests in the next room had an all night party until 5am on the Saturday night guests opening and closing door, talking, we didn’t get any sleep. Didn’t bother complaining as we had encountered a few grumpy staff during the weeks stay so didn’t think they would care. Not the hotels fault, just exhausting.

The room facilities are a bit old and have some old building smells, but I heard it is common for San Francisco. Unfortunately this is my first hotel here so I have no reference. But the cleaning staffs did a very good job everyday and made our stay more comfortable. The hotel staff also let us in early without charge, so I really appreciated it after a long travel. Water pressure was good and it was a big shower. The bed and pillows were also comfortable.

The internet was almost useless in every evening, and just barely function in the day time for normal work. It was difficult for online meeting.

Pool was great for the kids. Outdoor and heated (a little). Location is good - right by Union Square and the start of the tram line. Rooms were clean and it met our needs well. When I called ahead of time they were very responsive - they accommodated my request to have a room with a balcony overlooking the pool. They also put a bottle of wine in the room for my wife's birthday. Great experience overall! And good price point.

The hotel is a little bit dated. The carpet a little bit smelly in places. There were some homeless in the vicinity. I think the area is close to where a lot of homeless are camped. But I didn't see it as a big issue. I didn't feel unsafe. There were plenty of tourists and families around. I also wouldn't want to hide from the homelessness issue. It's an important issue. It feels irresponsible to just close your eyes to it all.

Perfect location near Union Square. Comfortable bed. Staff reacted promptly to a request regarding an iPad that was left behind in the room - could pick it up easily a few days later. Staff offered an alternative room upon request as I found the first room unacceptable.

Age of the place shows here and there. The room that I was offered first was facing not the street but the inner open space of the building, however, windows were partially blocked by what looked like an outlet of a ventilation system. At first, my request for a proper receipt was rejected, as I had booked not directly but via Booking.com. Only a second request, to another employee was successful. High price - but seems to be usual for this area.

It was my first time in San Francisco and as a solo traveller I was hesitant if I had chosen the right location to stay in. I absolutely did!! Union square was central to everything via transport or on foot. The hotel itself had a welcoming, warm feeling that always made me feel safe, with 24-hr lobby staff. My experience on check-in was with a bubbly, friendly lady which couldn't have been more accomodating (wears a bow in hair - she was wonderful!) The rooms were cleaned daily and had everything I needed for a six-day stay. A HUGE shoutout to John (I hope that name is correct) at the front concierge desk. He is AMAZING! So knowledgeable! I wish I had spoken with him sooner. He showed me the areas to avoid, and the best methods of transport to get to my destinations and advice on how to pay/manage travel on the cable cars (even the best line to take for fun!) The Handerly Hotel is lucky to have him. He was an absolutely highlight and a pleasure to have met!

The lady on the concierge desk when John wasn't available wasn't anywhere need as helpful or accommodating to help a traveller book a day trip, which resulted in having to travel to Fisherman's Wharf's information centre and book the same trip (same company) myself. A phone call doesn't go astray. I communicated this to staff who apologised on her behalf.

Location directly at Union square with food and shopping possibilities close by! access to public transport e.g bus / tramway 3-5min walk! car rental possibilities 5min walk / very good for sightseeing / friendly staff!!

We checked in late at night. The room thermostat was a little inconvenient to operate when you are very tired from traveling otherwise the room, the bed and the shower were fine. The lighting in the hall was too dim for anyone to come in late, with several bags. Our stay was wonderful, and the hotel staff was professional and courteous, the housekeeping was responsive to our special requests and the concierge was extremely helpful during our stay. The location of the hotel could not have been better, close to everything one could ask for. Bart rail station is only 3 blocks away and only costs $10.00 per person to SFO airport and takes all of 35 minutes to get there. We enjoyed our stay at Henderly and recommend it to anyone. We thought the hotel would have a restaurant. However, we had no problem finding places to eat nearby. The hall lighting was too dim especially when travelling with several bags.

Perfect location-right at Union Square, which is beautiful. BigBus stops there. Just a few blocks from the train to the Airport. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Many rowels.

Wonderful, large room with nice, clean facilities. The hotel is located right next to Union Square in the middle of the city, shops and everything you need is located within walking distance. Amazing location!

I didn't really have much of a view from my room, but that is pretty common in inner city hotels regardless. A minor point that didn't particularly bother me, as I was only staying one night anyway. I would also have appreciated it if breakfast was included, but that doesn't seem to be an option anymore in American hotels.
