Perfect spot for our girls getaway! Loved the peaceful, woodsy location, lodge and proximity to the marina. Having 2 baths was a huge bonus. Wine on the patio was perfect after a day of exploration.

There is a pseudo kitchenette which was nice, but no sink to clean anything and no cleaning service throughout our 3 night stay. I didn’t mind not having the beds made or bath cleaned daily, but someone should attend to the rooms to clear dishes and empty trash, replace tp…etc. We bought groceries to eat breakfast in the room and our dishes were piled up after day 2. Essentially no service at all once we checked in. No emergency toiletries…one of us forgot a toothbrush for example. The lodge also opens and closes at inconvenient times. Couldn’t get filtered water until it opened and we were long gone on our hiking by 9. NO BREWED coffee or keurig. Big issue with that. But we did love the facility as a whole. They need to work on the service.

We were upgraded to the studio cabin and it was such an amazing surprise. The cabin was spacious, super clean, and very cute with nice touches like a cozy fireplace and good size kitchen. We were there during a big snowstorm so we spent a lot of time in the room and it felt very comfortable and relaxing. The main lodge also has a wine bar which we enjoyed one evening.

We were surprised that there wasn’t a coffee machine in the room. It was not a big deal but that little touch would have just made our stay that much better. Also, it is a bit pricey but for the location, space, and cleanliness, it was worth it for us.

Loved the location, super close to downtown and all the activities but just far enough that you still feel like you're in a secluded area with privacy. Several restaurants you could walk to including Thai on Ski Run which was incredible. Staff were nice and helpful and I liked all of their personal touches to make our stay enjoyable. Kitchenette was a must after all of our eating out and bringing food back to the room.

On our last night another couple stayed in the room next door, I could hear one of them snoring so that was a little off-putting when it came to privacy. Wi-fi a little weak so streaming in the room was a little spotty.

For the first time in well over 60 years of traveling, our "first-ever" stay at Black Bear Resort was without a doubt, the most enjoyable of them all. Everything from checking in to checkout was beyond exemplary and we wish to thank everyone involved for a truly wonderful experience. Every similar establishment would be wise using Black-Bear as an example to follow. WOW!!!!!!!.........

After considerable thought, the one thing we truly did not like about our stay with Black-Bear, was having to leave.

We enjoyed our stay immensely! The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were extremely clean, nicely furnished with comfortable beds and linens. The Black Bear Lodge provides extremely thoughtful touches, such as high quality hygiene products, delicious coffee, welcome chocolates, bathrobes and slippers, etc. to make guests feel comfortable and welcome. We highly recommend this location when staying in South Lake Tahoe!

The room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom/shower were excellent. The hot tub was lovely, the reception/lounge area was cozy and welcoming, and the free welcome drink was an unexpected pleasant touch.

The ONLY thing we didn't love about our stay was the scented oil diffuser in our room. It was supposedly lavender, but I think the water was stale and it gave off a mildew smell. I liked the idea of the diffuser, but if they're going to offer one of those, they need to clean it regularly.

Friendly staff, beautiful lodge and grounds. Very well kept and clean. Lodge had lots of character and large trees. Great location, walking distance to most restaurants and activities.

Only shortcoming was lack of coffee. They did have a pour over method coffee maker, but the coffee was not good. Also, there was crushed ice availability, but cubed ice would have been nice to have.

The lodge was beautifully decorated, clean and in a great location. Quiet safe neighborhood and walking distance to amenities and lake. So many little touches to make this feel like a boutique lodge, would definitely stay again. Staff incredibly friendly and accommodating.

We could hear every step and movement of the room above us, which made it very difficult to sleep. Would choose 2nd floor or separate cabin if available.

Uncomfortable bed with cheap sheets which caused static shocks TV remote didn't seem to work Toilet roll holder very annoying (crazy to say but it's true) Hard to get temperature in the room right

The lodge exceeded our expectations; it is so big and clean, and there was a coffee machine. The cabin was adorably decorated. "I loved the vintage sewing machine table!" and we got a fireplace which was a lovely addition to the cebine. The host was welcoming and friendly. They left us a little congratulations note with some chocolate. Thank you for the nice gesture.

The place is excellent, but I could not get a hold of the reception on the number provided; they might have an issue with the phone. but everything was great
