The location The staff Very big spacious room The ‘NOLA-style’ of the hotel The laidback style of the staff The art hanging on the walls

Refrigerator could only freeze The temperature in the room and corridor was way too cold and non-adjustable. Great bed, but a bit too soft and you rolled to the middle… Valetparking is expensive, but 24 hours available. Breakfast is too simple if you’re staying longer than 2 nights The ‘view’ was a brick wall from the building next door… The ‘private entrance’ doesn’t exist!

We booked The Mercantile Hotel after the hotel we originally booked for my 40th birthday cancelled without notifying us. We got there to check-in and they had cancelled on us. There were 10 of us the first night and one person joined later. We all had an amazing time. The service was excellent, the entire staff was helpful and polite. When there was a problem with one of our rooms, they immediately changed our room without any fuss. They also gave me a bottle of wine for my birthday which was so thought of them. When the last member of our party couldn't make it because of severe weather conditions, they cancelled the booking last minute without a charge. The rooms are spacious, all suites of different sizes and the hotel has a lot of character as it used to be a sugar factory. The location is also excellent, it's in the CBD far enough from the noise of French Quarters but close enough to explore the Quarters. I highly recommend and would definitely stay there again

I loved everything about it. The breakfast could be better but it's New Orleans and there are several places to get a good breakfast. Oh, ans yes. Daily housekeeping would be a nice touch to get them to perfect!

Walking into the hotel, I was impressed by the quality of the decor (including nods to New Orleans) and cleanliness of the lobby. Our room was on the corner on the top floor, leading to stunning views in two directions that was wonderful to wake up to. The bathroom was large and the shower had good water pressure and heat. The complimentary breakfast had hot food and cold food options, along with three coffee options (medium, medium decaf, and chicory coffee) and juice and tea. The common space downstairs had nice furniture and good Wifi too.

The couch in the living room area was noticeably dirty, with its whitish fabric covered in stains. The appliances in the room (microwave, mini fridge, and tvs) were on the older side - still functional but could be updated. The fridge did not get that cold. The lobby bar was closed for all of our stay and we don't know why - but there is supposed to be happy hour there.

Great and responsive staff. Very good breakfast. Close to Convention Center and attractions. Lots of architectural character.

Need more support staff. Had to request clean towels and no daily room cleanup. Not really an inconvenience.

The hotel was clean and very quiet during our stay. We really liked having a separate bedroom/living room . The bathroom was spacious as well. The hotel is in an historic building which was originally a sugar refinery. The location worked well for us. We could walk to the Quarter ( under a mile) but then get away from it when we wanted quiet time. The area where the hotel is located is bustling with great restaurants, museums, etc. We could have stayed within a 5 block radius and had plenty to do. We would stay here again . We didn’t partake in the free breakfast, but it looked ok if you just want a quick bite.

Loved the location, it kept us out of the Quarter and introduced us to other options. The bar at the hotel was wonderful and the bartender Tommy was on point! Food was just okay but it was an option.

Housekeeping was lacking even when we complained no one came back to clean. Loved the room just wasn't very clean, tables had sticky cup rings on them and floor needed to be vacuumed desperately. The door had to be pushed back towards to hinges before it could be closed. I thought our room was the only one but some of the others on the 8th floor stated their doors did the same thing. With the exception of the lady that checked us in the guy that was there never looked up as people came and went, didn't do anything when our phone system went out, didn't send Housekeeping back up, even when he stated she said she was still on our floor. She wasn't and he did absolutely nothing.

The hotel far exceeded my expectations of what I was picturing it to be due to the great value, during Mardi Gras and the location. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean and roomy for the two of us. We were in town for Mardi Gras. My husband is on the Endymion Krewe and the hotel was very close to the convention center, which is where the Endymion Extravaganza was being held due to the Superdome being worked on. I will definitely be staying there again for Endymion 2024.

They could offer a free continental breakfast and have longer hours for the lobby bar.

Old fashioned style hotel and room with magnificent charm in it. Clean, smell good, and well kept. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast, which was a refreshing surprise because it was not mentioned on Booking. The staff was pleasant, welcoming, and cooperative. The hotel is within perfectly short walking distance of the convention center, the outlet shopping center, the aquarium, and the France Quarter. The area is quiet. The hotel offers valet parking for 50 USD per night.

According to Booking, parking was supposed to be available at the hotel. The additional parking cost was not mentioned. In any case, there is a close parking garage for 25 per 24 hours and anyway, it was a mistake to rent a car in New Orleans because you don't really need a car there.

The room was much more spacious than I expected it to be, and the view was phenomenal. Waking up in the morning and seeing the New Orleans skyline was a constant delight even if the weather was awful.

There was no WiFi during our entire stay - 7 days and 6 nights - without any idea of when it would come back. I'm not even sure that the WiFi was fixed when I checked out. There were also red stains in the bathroom (hopefully not blood), dead ants within the crevices of the bathroom door, and overall I would say that the bathroom could be cleaned a bit more thoroughly.

Property was clean and very well kept, the rooms are a nice size for a small family visiting the city. It was perfect for the stay with my children. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our first venture out on the town was cut very short because a wheel on my stroller hit a cobblestone in just right and broke the pin that held it on… we were able to get back to the hotel and I simply asked if they had any pliers that I could borrow to attempt the fix it…. Well, their maintenance man (Mike) went out of his way to find the items needed to repair the stroller wheel. He even came up to our room to repair it so that we didn’t have to keep waiting in the lobby with the kids while he searched for parts to repair it. It was an act of kindness that we won’t forget. It may seem small to some but it literally saved the rest of our trip. Every staff member that we encountered at The Mercantile Hotel was so nice… from check in, to departure, from the bartender to valet… our stay was wonderful. We will definitely stay here again.
