The room view and breakfast was Amazing.

While sleeping in the first floor, there was a lot of noise upstairs. Kids running around and like if someone was moving around furniture. On the 2nd day my Mother went to heat up some left overs and there was a small rat running around. And there was no room service

The on site pub was great and good value. Lovely views across the river from one of the rooms and the bar. The rooms were a good size and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very nice. 10 minutes walk to the subway once you know where to go - there is a short cut through the multi storey car park which is badly signposted from the platform.

We emailed the property in advance to ask about which rooms we would be best to book to get adjoining rooms and didn't get a lot of help. We ended up with our two rooms in completely separate wings. Also dispute booking each room for 3 people, the junior suite was only made up for 2 and the mattress for the sofa bed had to be found.

Having restaurant was a plus Mary Murray was great checking in an out.

Hotel staff everything was great. The only downside was the RUDE DISPACHER FROM YELLOW CAB. I called to see if I could reserve a taxi 445 going to wedding he said no call back then. When I called back 5 times finally he answered and said nothing available for an hour. The girl at the desk in hotel not sure her name said he gave her a hard time around 4pm she had called for another guest. Dispatcher was just as rude!!!!

The Pub was really nice and Brian was a great host with good local info. Mary at the front desk was excellent and was able to assist with any request we had. Those two staff members totally enhanced our visit to Boston. The lady operating the breakfast was working really hard and the food was very good. We would recommend this location to anyone visiting Boston.

The first room we were given was pretty bad. We did not understand the description but happily we were able to upgrade.

Excellent homes that have been turned into hotels it is what you would expect and want when traveling to Salem. Location was excellent we were at the end of Essex street where everything is so right out our door and a very short walk and we were right around shops and restaurants we did not need to use our car for the entire visit. Room was excellent with a beautiful view of the back yard with nice seating areas under shade. Old world charm with modern conveniences minus an elevator so pack light you will be carrying your luggage up flights of stairs. Breakfast everyday was great and the hotel is right on top of checking in on you and your visit and getting your breakfast request.

Location. Friendly staff at checkin. Ease of checkin. Clean room. Amenities in room. Free parking. Quiet room. Well maintained grounds. Good food for breakfast. Convenience of pub.

Was charged a $50 incidental fee. This was not made known to me until I called on day of checkin. This stay was a birthday gift. So they were not able to enjoy part of my gift which was a paid meal and drinks at the pub. It was to be the highlight of gift. Was told it will be 7 business days before I receive my $50 back. So basically an unexpected $50 loan to the inn. I would have rathered known this up front when I booked thru booking.com so I could have left more on the card I paid with.

20 minute walk to the train station so great for getting into Boston. Room was clean, queen bed a little small for two, my husband is 6 feet 3. I’d recommend going for the two queen bed option. River view was fab, loved that. Reception staff were great, polite, humorous and efficient. The pub was a nice place to relax, with a singer on the Saturday night.

it’s good for the price. in a green world though, I’d suggest ditching plastic knives and forks at breakfast and going for wood.

Room - no windows - no fresh air, felt stuffy at times Breakfast - amount of single use plastic - all plates, utensils etc were plastic and thrown away - felt very wrong, wasteful and unenvironmentallly friendly. But possibly a cultural difference coming from the uk ? Location -

The food offered in the hotel restaurant was unexpectedly fantastic! The absolute highlight of the stay. Honestly, I would almost go out of my way on the next trip to Boston to eat there again. Bed was comfortable, linens were clean and crisp.

The room was dated and musty smelling. The carpet and sofa should be shampooed and cleaned. Sink and shower were cleaned but there were items that did not get washed away when the cleaning was completed.

Excellent check in. VERY pleasant and exceedingly helpful person at check in, gave great suggestions. Awesome shower and great comfortable bed. Loved our view & room size.

Breakfast...ran out of eggs but perhaps we came down too close to the end of the breakfast timeframe. We had an event in the hotel's tavern the evening prior from 11:30pm-2:00am after a family wedding so people slept late so probably not the fault of the hotel.
