A down-to-earth oasis in the heart of the city. Great staff - every single staff member I met was warm, friendly and welcoming, really make you feel at ease and at home. Reasonable priced rooms, cheap and delicious made-to-order breakfast. Pet friendly and staff are pet lovers. Made of brick, so fairly soundproof rooms. Ground level rooms each have their own outside door. Nice hot showers. Rooms have a mini fridge, microwave, coffee machine, work table and plenty of storage. Nice, big old-school keys to the rooms, which is so much nicer than the cards. Well lit and easy to find in the dark. Public library and YMCA with a pool nearby, as well as a precious strip of green grass for your dog to do its business amidst miles of concrete. Walking distance to anything downtown. 10 minutes drive to the east end of the city, 20 minutes to the west side. Off-street, designated free parking. Overall, almost everything I look for in a hotel. I will be back! My only complaint is that the pictures showed a bathtub with jets, but the tub and jets were not functional in my room. Had I realized the YMCA was so close earlier in my stay, I would have hit up their hot tub to make up for that. Also, as much as I like this place, there are a few things fussy people wouldn't like, like some stains on the carpet, an older bed and the occasional homeless person sleeping in the shade across the street. If you are one of the people bothered by such things, leave these nice folks alone and go stay down the street at one of the more expensive and pretentious hotels. I was in Billings for a business conference at the Double Tree. Their rooms were nicer in the conventional sense, but cost twice as much, had limited and costly parking, a labyrinth of elevators to get to your room, did not have microwaves in the room and charged ridiculous prices for tiny portions at breakfast. I will take the humble Dude Rancher over that scenario any day!

We loved the decor! The hotel has a unique style and ambiance. We appreciated the variety of furnishings in the room. The hotel is a cut above, far better than a cheap budget hotel or a cookie-cutter room in a corporate chain. The front desk staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We appreciated the courtyard parking. The breakfast in the hotel restaurant was delicious and filling. The property is just a short drive away from several excellent restaurants for lunch or dinner. For travelers looking for something with a real "historic" feel, this place is a great choice.

The only criticism is that the lobby seemed smaller than shown in the pictures and didn't offer any place for private conversation.

The front desk staff were very friendly and polite. The guy who checked me in and said the $8, made to order, breakfast was the best I'd ever have for $8 was not wrong. BIG DELICIOUS BREAKFAST. The waitress and cook were also super nice. This place is charming. Close to food and fas stations as well as downtown.

It would be easier for guests if the wall switch for the lights was left on and guests turned off and on using the switches on the lamps. Trying to find the wall switch...in the dark...on the far side of the room ...was challenging.

We loved our stay. It's pet friendly, comfortable, and the place has a personality. It's clean, comfortable, safe. Staff was very friendly to us. Their awesome breakfast is the highlight. For just 8 dollars we ate the most delicious breakfast of the entire trip. Our dog slept well too! We managed to arrive in time to get a parking spot inside, which seemed much safer than other hotels we've been to. Spots in the internal yard fill up quickly, and after it's full, they recommend parking in an adjacent parking lot next doors.

Really cool older downtown hotel with a western vibe. Very friendly staff and very clean and comfortable. Definitely not a cookie cutter chain hotel which made it a fun overnight stay.

The parking is a bit cramped, so if possible try not to get in very late in the day. Being an "older" hotel, our room was a bit on the smaller size, not a big deal for us. But, if you have a lot of luggage, you might check if they have larger rooms available....

breakfast was available but we needed to start early and didn't use the facility. The restaurant was closed at the time of visiting so had to go out for dinner

Room had had a partial upgrade and the toilet bowl replaced, unfortnately this meant that the door caught every time it was open or closed. Overall though while it looks a little dated outside and insode it was evry clean and cofortable.

Super charming, love the classic "rt 66" style. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was HUGE, room was clean and really cute. Staff is available 24 hours and super friendly. Love the postcard in the room, makes a cool souvenir of the stay.

The little restaurant was not open at the time but that's ok because they had 24 hour coffee and tea in the lobby and the receptionist recommended some delicious breakfast joints within walking distance.

Room was comfy. Convenient to downtown entertainment, we walked easily

Very disappointed that the on-site restaurant shown on Booking.com was not open. Had never reopened "since COVID". We had counted on eating dinner and breakfast there based on the website pics and reviews

Comfortable bed, great front desk staff, cool older western vibe, lower priced, good location for downtown activities!

Parking spots tight for a pickup, older facility cleaning practices a little suspect when there is an open bag of chips in the armoire.

This lodge is a historic building, and has a cool western vibe. I loved the inner courtyard parking, and felt this was a very secure parking lot because of the configuration. This lodging has a unique feel to it. I would definitely try to stay here again.

It was challenging to find the entrance. Also, the restaurant was not operational due to staffing. I don't fault them for that as there are so many places unable to find staffing right now. There was a local restaurant only 2 blocks away, so it didn't matter that the Dude Rancher restaurant wasn't opened.
