Sonesta Select Mahwah

I liked how clean and how friendly and helpful the staff was. It’s really is a great value for the money. I was also pleased with the balcony view which I didn’t quite expect when booking the room and was happy with.i came here in February so the weather was cold to stay out for too long on the balcony. The pool was also awesome love how it’s heated or just a right temperature.

it was miserable when seeing the staff with their continuous efforts at assisting a customer during their stay, and the woman kept yelling at them. She also kept saying obnoxious things and rude remarks when all they were trying to do was help her with her reservation and all the while also trying to upkeep and manage the bar for people that wanted some drinks at 7pm . I wanted to sit and have dinner but went up and stayed in my room for the duration of the night; had dinner and watched some tv.

This hotel is clean, grand and spacious. It has a lovely courtyard and wonderful indoor pool area that overlooks the courtyard. The gym has state of the art equipment. I really enjoyed my room and the bed was so comfortable, I didn't want to leave.

I wish this hotel had a better breakfast. There are also no microwave ovens in the rooms, I had to go to the lobby to warm my meal. There is a Starbucks in the lobby but it opens late and their is limited staff. However, the lady who served us after it finally opened was very nice and did apologize for the wait.

The hotel was very nice. The lobby and my room were beautiful. Room was spacious, especially the bathroom area. There were 4 pillows on the bed; a lot of hotels only provide 3 pillows for a king size bed and when there’s two people you’ve gotta fight over them lol. Room was very clean— tub and toilet were sparkling.

The location was a little inconvenient, only because of how strange the road is. I cannot explain it because I have never seen such a strange road in my life— lots of going round and round. The room key didn’t work to get you in any of the back doors so you could only get in through the lobby. Breakfast was available but cost extra so didn’t partake. Tried calling front desk several times and got no answer.

It is a very comfortable spacious private space at a price that beats the other hotels in area.

No microwave in room...coffee in lobby seems hard to get ( but alcoholic drinks at end of day are nice). They play with your money....Authorizations, deposit...the charge booking.com shows is not what it is in the end. Businesses think money- it's #'s to them and they are in place to profit! It's my personal life, in the balance....so let me know the cost clear cut, please!

there are coffee and breakfast items for sale in the reception area, just pastries and cereals but enough to start the day. There is no restaurant on site. We went up Orange County turnpike to Rhodes Inn, which is well worth a visit. Great food and a great atmosphere. The room itself was lovely, we had plenty of room, a sofa and footstool, desk and chair a fridge and coffee maker. The bed was a king size and very comfortable.

The hotel is on the I17 Interstate so the getting in and out in the car is a bit scary. Also you have to go around the exit to get to the opposite side depending on where you are going. There are a few places nearby you can buy food, but you cant walk as you would have to cross exits off the main highway so you have to drive.

The staff members were very friendly, the accommodations were clean, the check-in was fast, and there was very little noise pollution for being located so close to a highway. I would definitely stay here again!

I wish there were more healthy food options available in the surrounding area. Although the hotel is easy to find from the highway, it was a little tricky to travel away from for food and then to find my way back again!

Breakfast was not included in our stay which I think would be a staple in such a great hotel. That was a little disappointing but besides that everyone was very nice. We had a good time chatting and hanging out at the bar the bartender was lovely The staff was accommodating. I would definitely be back. Lovelyplace

I the future the should definitely think about including breakfast with your stay. The pool could use a little work.

The location and cleanliness and size of room

The person at the front desk. We drove 11 hours and we got there at noon. I tried to check in, and he laughed in my face and said it was only 12 pm. What was I thinking? I replied that we drove overnight and was tired. He told me to either sit in my car or drive around for 2 hours, then come back. He was very rude and was more interested in playing like a manager and bossing people around

Few things. My gf is highly allergic to animals & suffered through a moderate allergic reaction all throughout the morning. Seems like the sofa pillows harbored pet dander; she grabbed 1 of those pillows @ night & had a bad rash all over her neck & face. Also, weve stayed at that hotel 4/5 times these last 2 months & there used to be 3 fairly young ducks in the courtyard. That last night we stayed we only saw 2. The next morning after we heard the landscapers cutting grass...we could only find 1. Not very happy Sonesta has not called animal control or sought to preserve or protect the birds. Very upset to see 2/3 of the ducks gone...not due to responsible animal removal, but due to obvious dehydration & very possible murder by lawn mower. Please! If you see ducks in the courthouse, have them removed. While it was a great experience the first time we saw them...every time we came back we grew more upset because there wasn't a body of water in the court yard for the ducks to drink out of...or enjoy. Ducks belong near bodies of water. Not trapped in a hotel's court yard.

The grounds were great for our puppy. The parking & internet made it easy to work and vacation at once. Great seating outside on the grounds to relax & work.

The restaurant has not made a full recovery yet post Covid. There is coffee in the morning & alcohol in the evening as well as some packaged breakfast items but it still needs work.
