Lafonda is right on the plaza in Taos. Within with easy walking distance to many restaurants. The property is old, historic, and looks like it.

During our time there, they were installing new air conditioning units. It makes me sad to see this historic building have pipes and electrical coming out the outside of the building and run up to the top. It reminded me of the assimilation by the Borg. The inside of the building, at least on the floor we were on, needed to be cleaned. I don’t know if this was because of the air conditioning being installed or not. There was a lot of trash on the carpet. Our room was very small, but comfortable, especially with the new air conditioner. But I did notice that the sheets were not new. They were pilled at the bottom where my feet touched. It was a little unsettling.

Location off the plaza and availability of adjacent parking makes this hotel ideal. And, Omar, who works the evenings at the lobby desk, was very helpful. He gave us shopping tips, found a corkscrew, and advised us not to take high road back to Santa Fe since it was closed at points due to a recent fire.

Need a second barista at coffee cafe in the morning. It would be nice if the restaurant space was used at least for breakfast service, though coffee bar offers a nice premade breakfast burrito.

When we checked in during the early evening,, the young lady May was very helpful in telling us exactly which restaurants might still be open for dinner and how to get to each and also told us some fun things to do the next morning. Also the next day, the gentleman at the desk showed us the d.h. lawrence exhibit and pointed us toward coffee and breakfast and both were very nice and pleasant. We also enjoyed the upstairs lobby and worked on the La Fonda puzzle while relaxing.

nothing, but we will have to return during the season or a weekend to try the restaurant

La Fonda more than met my expectations. I know it is an older hotel but it has been kept up very well and still has it's charm. The staff at the front desk were OUTSTANDING!!! So friendly and helpful. The room workd well for us as we needed two bedrooms. We stayed in Room 214 and it would have been nice if the bathroom was more central than having to go into the other person's room, but it worked for us.

I had trouble with the TV but we stayed so busy outside of our room it wasn't really needed.

Location perfect. Hotel is so beautiful and historic. There is something about a hotel that is special and the La Fonda is one of the nicest places we have stayed. The lobby is so interesting and charming. The rooms are comfortable and attractive with everything you need. It just has such a friendly and welcoming vibe. Yes it costs more than a lot of other places you could stay but it is so worth the cost. The staff is outstanding. We mostly interacted with Fyre and Joshua. They were very helpful and friendly. We look forward to our next visit. Also the La Fonda is soon opening a restaurant and bar off the lobby. That will only make it more special.

This was a perfect location – right in the heart of Taos Plaza. The room was comfortable with a separate sitting room with a door you could close if one person was up and didn’t want to bother the other. There were tv’s in both bedroom and sitting room which was nice. Having access to Netflix (you have to sign into your own account) was a great touch. It was nice not having the bathroom right next to the bedroom so you could use it without waking others up. I loved having a fireplace in the bedroom…what a nice touch. There was a great communal area right outside our room with comfortable (and plenty) of seating, a fireplace, games, and books for you to use. It was a nice escape if you didn’t want to just hang out in your room. Best scones around in the shop down in the lobby. Staff couldn't have been any nicer and helpful!

Wall were thin - could hear the conversation of the people next door. Wi-Fi connection was intermittent. Sitting room was nice but would have been nice to have a small loveseat or 2 comfortable chairs so one person didn't have to sit at the table. None of this would deter me from staying here again though.

The location is amazing, on the historic Taos Square. The adjacent restaurant which is only open on Saturdays and Sundays was very good. For dinner, a very serviceable bar/restaurant is on the square. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

Although the historic property has done a good job of updating, it's a very old property with very small rooms and limited technology. The television service was Direct TV, but we had to get staff help turning on the TV in the afternoon of check in and again the next morning.

Location is perfect and parking was very easy and while not included in the nightly rate, was quite reasonable. Beautiful facility with amazing art! Having a fireplace was a treat!!

Room 203 was very nice, easy to get to and we enjoyed having a little sitting room. Having another comfortable chair in there would have been a bit more comfortable.

Beautiful hotel. Loved the room. Old hotel but with the updates that retain charm

Recent change of ownership and staff was inconsistent. For example, I had no Internet. And one man told me he would report it. the next day a younger man said that the a relay was out, and been out for days in my zone of the hotel, and he recommended a nice location on the second floor to go and do my Internet work. No air-conditioning but fans provided.

We liked the location of the hotel. Many restaurants in walking distance. The staff was incredible! They were all helpful and very accommodating. The lady at the check in shared some history of the hotel, and I thought it was interesting and informative!

Our room was very small! Like dorm room small! The bed was not comfortable at all. The mattress was like the mattress at grandma's house: old, worn, and too soft. I guess those old box spring types. The pillow were not good either. However, they did have a lot of pillows, but we did not like the foam feeling stuffing. The room was warm, almost too warm! It was cold outside though! We did have to open the window because it was so warm. We turned the heater off, but it remained warm. (We didn't know if it was just well insulated or controlled as the whole building) Also, the parking lot was at the back of the hotel, (which was not the issue. The front faced the plaza) and it was littered with graffiti on the walls and breaker boxes. It was terribly tacky!
