Hampton Inn Potsdam

We have stayed at this hotel many times and it always meets expectations. This is the first time we have stayed in a king room. Very large and clean. Nice desk, chair and bench at the foot of the bed. large clean bathroom. Shower had nice pressure as well. Air conditioner worked well. I liked the workout room. Equipment was updated and they had towels that clean and ready for use. Breakfast was available and there until 10. They were able to accommodate a first floor room and now allow dogs for a fee, so we have the option to bring our dog for the next visit. This hotel is also very close to the college where our daughter goes. Staff was super helpful and friendly as well. I have stayed at almost all of the hotels in the area, and by far this is the best one, for comfort, cleanliness, and location.

I really can't find anything that I don't like. All hotels are expensive these days and for the amenities I got it was worth it.

Great hotel in an area that has very limited places to stay. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, knew of nearby places to hike, had comprehensive list of local restaurants, and willing to help with whatever was needed. Very extensive breakfast selections, coffee available all of the time, ice machines on each floor, small canteen where you could buy snacks, toiletries, etc. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. Due to Covid, gave option of having room cleaned or not. Fridge, microwave in room, HBO on TV, lots of towels. Lots of parking.

In May 2022, Covid numbers are up again, so I probably would have preferred that the staff, especially at the desk, wore masks. Indeed, the kitchen staff wore masks, so seemed reasonable that the rest of the staff would as well. Otherwise, no complaints.

We have stayed here many times and it always meets our expectations. Clean, comfortable room. Nice large room with space to move around. Free breakfast, nice work out room. Close to everything.

The price keeps going up which I understand in this economy but even weeks later it is more and more. But it is a nice place and worth the money.

We almost always stay here when in potsdam because it is consistently clean, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. The workout room is in good working order and breakfast is included.

It is really hard to find things I don't like. There are few vegan food options but I didn't request anything so I can't complain.

Everything, the staff was so nice and very welcoming. We arrived early into town and they let us check in to our room earlier. They also try to help with providing us with local taxis in the area as we didn't have a car. The room was cleaned and have all new furniture. Beds was comfortable. They are fridges and microwaves in the room. Walgreens and some fast food restaurants are within walking distance. Good selections for the complementary breakfast. Adorable coffee cups with sleeves made it more fun. They also have complementary toiletries at the front desk if you have forgotten your toothbrush or toothpaste and etc. We didn't have time to enjoy the pool or gym but both looked nice and very clean.

The location to the nearby colleges is about a 30 min walk from the hotel if you don't have a car and the local taxi services are either unavailable or just don't answer the phone. They are also no Uber or Lyfts servicing the area. I would highly recommend to rent a car during your stay (which I plan to do on my next visit). The walk was not too bad, we got lucky with having good weather. The local town is about a 20 min walk which has restaurants, shops and a beautiful water view. The area is very safe.

Chemicals in the pool room made It almost unbearable to be in to supervise our kids. Been to a lot of hotel pools but this was crazy strong. All of us had burning eyes, had to site by the outside door and crack It so our kids could have fun.

The proximity to Clarkson University, bookshop, Ruxxy cinema , the bustop and the very helpful staff

There was no daily room service to clean up the room but perhaps it's the policy no but I was too busy to ask.

They asked if we would like to be left alone or would like housekeeping come. Very nice.

I went to get chocolate waffles and the waffle batter was all gone. There was also a crack going from the crack where the ceiling and wall meet in the bedroom though.

Friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast, very clean and neat, and the beds are super comfy! Also, the TV was on when I entered the room and it said “Welcome Tara” on the screen. Nice little touch.

We stayed here to attend a St. Lawrence University Graduation. While Potsdam (and this hotel) are about 15 minutes from the SLU campus, it was plenty convenient and a straight, easy drive between the two.

The breakfast was certainly adequate, with lots of "cold" choices (cereal, pastries, etc.), but the omelets and sausage were about what you'd expect from a chain hotel: mass-produced and generic. Not complaining, as a free breakfast is always awesome.
