Dewar's Inn and Cottages

The view of the St. Lawrence River was spectacular as were the gardens and landscaping on the property. It was very peaceful and regenerating. We enjoyed having breakfast, including hard-boiled eggs, sausages, potatoes, porridge, muffins, & yogurt provided each morning. The furniture was relatively comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will likely come again when we are able to book a cabin.

The bed could have been more comfortable. We stayed a week in a Queen room (#12, with riverside view), as there were no cabins available; in the future, we will make sure we are able to book a cabin. There wasn't much room for hanging a week's worth of clothes; some closet space or at least some more hooks, perhaps near the entrance, would be nice. We would have liked a few more supplies in the kitchen, such as a small stovetop and a saucepan and maybe a toaster oven and a few more dishes and utensils. The small fridge tended to freeze food placed near the back of the fridge. The place was a bit small for a week-long stay, but it was still very workable.

It is a gem of a spot on the water with amazing decks, gardens and spectacular views, breakfast offered hot and cold options and with fresh baked goods. Everything was spotless both accommodation and breakfast room. And the price point was spot on!

There was nothing I didn’t like. If I were going to offer a suggestion, as this is an amazingly well kept dated property, the next upgrade could be to the linens, although perfectly comfortable, but a dated look with the blanket and pattern coloured bed throw. And maybe a higher thread count sheet. But like I said, just a suggestion for future upgrades. We were perfectly comfortable.

Beautiful setting with a waterfront view and chairs to sit by the water. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff are friendly and the free breakfast is nice. It has a cottage feel and we would definitely return (this is our second stay here). We actually had booked a different large chain hotel on the first part of our trip because of the location and cancelled our stay there for the return trip because it was filthy. It was a bit out of our way to come to Dewar's this time but we booked with them instead and made the extra drive because we knew it would be clean and comfortable - and it was). We will definitely return. We had a standard room and not a cottage so I can't speak to amenities (ie: kitchen). However, the setting is lovely if looking for peace and quiet.

The staff were fabulous and very helpful. Breakfast was included which was great. It was really good - it is not a sit-down restaurant but we could get our food and take it to our rooms or sit outside because there are so many tables and chairs outside. The location is excellent- and the landscaping is beautiful. We could sit down by the St Lawrence River and had a fabulous view. There were many tables and chairs there. The location has rooms and also cabins with kitchens and more space. Next time we will stay for longer and stay in a cabin.

It would have been helpful if we had a listing of places in Prescott where we could go for dinner, and things we could do close by. There were more restaurants than we thought there would be. One of the staff members recommended the Bridgeview Dockside Restaurant and Patio which we really liked- and they had a great view of the river. We brought our bikes and we know that this area promotes cycling tourism - it would have been helpful to have something to show us cycling routes close by. ( eg the Brock trail in Brockville and the Thousand Islands Trail )

We had an easy contact-less check in. The inn was right beside the river, and there was a large deck with tables so we could take our dinner out there to eat. There was also a smaller outdoor table just outside our room. The gardens were stunning, gorgeous to look at. Breakfast was very nice in the morning. I don't know how much there is to do nearby, as we were continuing north the next day, but it was a wonderful place to stay just across the border.

Location , the view of the sunrise over the St. Lawrence was spectacular. The property offered many sitting areas tucked within the amazing gardens, decks and beach area. They just started back serving breakfast…good job.. they offered a wide selection , fruit, yogurts, hot and cold cereal options, waffles, sausage and scrambled eggs , toast and the BEST blueberry muffins. The two complimentary bottles of water in the fridge,and the microwave popcorn for the room was a nice touch along with more than one package of good strong coffee. Friendly staff ❤️

The property definitely is dated..rooms are small, the step up to the bathroom

This is an older property and may not meet the expectations of those who are looking for the latest in room designs. However, the room was comfortable and clean. We had a deck overlooking the St. Lawrence River. The property was beautifully landscaped with flowers of all kinds. Squirrels. chipmunks and birds of many kinds. Gorgeous.

Beds were somewhat uncomfortable. Step up from kitchen to living room (my wife has bad knees).

the gardens were extraordinary - a true labor of love. the balconies and seating areas looking over the River were delightful. the available grills made it simple to prepare a lovely little dinner on site.

nothing but I recommend considering attracting some hummingbirds with a few feeders.

The gardens, the beautiful seating on the patios, the location, excellent view of the St. Lawrence River, friendly and helpful staff, everything was clean.

Dated rooms, toilet didn’t flush well, breakfast wasn’t great…okay, but could have been much better for the price we paid for the room. A lot of mosquitoes which made it hard to enjoy the beautiful evenings outdoors in the gardens.

Very comfortable and clean room. Great there were comfortable chairs to sit in to watch tv and read and not just the bed. Great little room fridge and microwave.

I thought the price was a little high given there was only a brown bag breakfast which was not very good, no housekeeping during my four day stay and a change of towels only once during that time. Also absolutely no one checked with me at my door or by phone at any time to inquire how my stay was going and if I needed anything.
