The Clarkson Inn

Loved the location, being next to downtown with lots of eateries and a movie theater. Very cool, historic building with a view of the historic downtown buildings and the river. Very central, and close to everything. Breakfast wasn't anything to write home about, but it had a decent variety, and ran for four hours, which was nice. Refrigerator had fridge AND freezer components, which helped. Historical photos were hung throughout the building, which gave us a feel for the history of Potsdam.

The key reader in the door hardly ever worked on the first try. Sometimes, it required four or five attempts to get the thing to unlock. The bathroom was a bit dated, but everything worked fine. Television channel selections were minimal.

A great location beside the Raquette River, a park and in the middle of the town. Restaurants are a short 2 minute walk. Loads of free parking. Rooms are a good size with a bathroom having a separate toilet/tub room. This is an older, heritage building furnished with period furniture from the early 1900s.

I agree with the many reviews that describe the complimentary breakfast as underwhelming; on offer were two overripe bananas, a bowl of fresh oranges, lukewarm omelette-like eggs and overdone bacon.

Breakfast was what caused me not to rate you as excellent. When we went to breakfast around 9:00 am there wasn't any hot breakfast left, nothing in the mini refrigerator - yogurt?, milk, cream cheese? and sparsely left items to choose from. They did bring some eggs and sausage eventually but that should be checked frequently so as not to be empty for guests.

Proximity to downtown, room was nice, doors are a little noisy but what can you do - price was fantastic!!!

It is exactly as advertised and rated. The room was nice and very clean. I had a ground floor room looking into a park and riverfront. Plenty of parking and close to pretty much anything you could want.

The ground floor kind of weirded me out, so as soon as it got dark I pulled the shades down. If I have the need to stay in Potsdam again, I will request a second floor room. No bar or grill, but plenty in walking distance. I don't stay in hotels often. I was disappointed in breakfast and thought $125 was expensive while microwaving a Jimmy Dean sausage egg and cheese croissant. Maybe I'm wrong...

It's the best vocation I have ever had with my own family. That is to Clarkson Inn. Super quiet and spacious room, and the view is breathtaking. Staff , cleaning team We thoughly enjoy every bit of our visit in Potsdam. The guests are friendly and mindful, we definitely will choose to stay in Clarkson Inn again in the future for our family vacation.

Sink needs to be more detail cleaned and unplugged. That's the smallest issues I am confident Clarkson clean team will pick it up. AC need an upgrade. Everything else was just impeccable.

location was perfect ; hairdryer was not functional on the wall, but the room had a second one ready to go. I enjoyed the water and chips in the room in addition to the regular coffee. we made use of the fridge too.

I had trouble with my room key twice but it was fixed . I didn’t like not being able to set the temperature. we turned the heat on, fell asleep and then woke up in the middle of the night overheated.

I liked the breakfast variety and time. The location was absolutely perfect and within walking distance to many things I wanted to attend. Movies, Jernabi Coffeehouse, I love India. I really like the feel and atmosphere of the old timey appearance plus the little chess game in the lobby.

Just a musty smell in the room, we immediately opened the windows to let some fresh air in.

Staff is friendly and accomdating. Location is great for Clarkson University family members Walking distance to campus and to all downtown businesses.

The place needed updates The room needed some fixing Bathroom door could not close fully. Side door was kept unlocked. Would be better if the side door needed room card for access

The location in Potsdam was great! The the rooms were comfortable and clean. Also if you need to go to one of the colleges nearby, the hotel or right in between both!

One of the only negatives I have is that there are no places to fill a water bottle. I asked the person working the front desk and they told me the tap was gross and to best avoid it.

Excellent location. Rooms are very spacious. Complimentary breakfast as well as bottled waters and snacks awaiting in the room upon check in are appreciated. Good toiletries provided.

At the time we were there ( first 12/2021, then 1/2022 and finally summer, 2022), the property is not well maintained. Carpeting in the rooms is not being vacuumed properly. Rooms are dusty. It’s unpleasant to be on the room being aware of the above
