Great location. Ocean front. I was worried when we checked in because this hotel doesn’t have the best reviews. We were relieved upon check in because we had no issues with our room. It was clean, we didn’t see a single bug, & our view was amazing. The hotel is old. It’s not in disrepair or falling apart though. If you want a clean hotel with a great view that’s also a fair price, this is it. The staff was nice also. Friendly, but not hovering. We would stay here again.

We would have like to be a bit closer to the boardwalk. It wasn’t a long bike ride to the boardwalk, but in the past when we’ve stayed at other Va beach oceanfront hotels you can literally step out of the hotel & you’re on the boardwalk bike path. Gave us extra exercise though.

The pricing was fair, and the AC control was zoned between the bedroom and living room/ kitchen. The non-oceanfront rooms still had a nice view, and the bar exceeded expectations. Despite the polarizing reviews, the room was clean, ready by the time we arrived, and parking wasn't cramped. The negatives will sound a bit harsh, but they were pain points felt a few times during our week there, but if they don't apply to you, then it's great.

The WiFi was atrocious. The speed peaked a few times at 6mbps (0.75 MBps), but tended to stay between 0.75mbps and 54kbps (yes, dial up speed) with ping averaging around 100ms, just enough to make calls annoying and video chat impossible. The hotels down the road hosting a number of shops gave specs closer to 6mbps/6mbps/30ms on their open guest network. Also, despite the pictures, there is no attached gift shop or convenience store.

I loved that I was given the option to pick which floor I wanted. I ended up getting a much higher floor and I feel like it made our view of the beach a lot better. I really appreciated the fact that this hotel had free parking as most other hotels charge you an arm and a leg even after spending so much money on the hotel itself. Lastly, I love the fact that there is an indoor pool and spa as well as a outdoor pool, even though we didn't use it because it's cold right now. The connected restaurant ended up being really nice. Which surprised me because they were using plastic cuplastic cups and such but I got the salmon and my friend got the steak and it was really, really good.

Although it's nice that they have an indoor pool and spa, I was surprised to see that the room keys stop working to give you access at ten p m, which is pretty early. We ended up going out to dinner and by the time we got back, we weren't able to ever use the pool and spa. Pretty much if you want to swim or sit in the hot tub you might as well not plan anything else to do for the night.

The location was very good. The young man who checked me in was professional and personable. He brought a smile to my face. Later when a nephew could not locate a hotel with rooms, I called the front desk, but even though this hotel didn’t have any rooms he was able to provide me one with availabilities. When I was checking and waiting for my sister, a different young man at the counter offered to help me carry my bags from outside. The front desk staff are exceptional.

I dropped something behind the night stand and when I moved it…there was a disposable diaper behind it…(it was clean, but there). The iron did not work…that needs replacing. And plugging iron in I noticed an empty juice bottle behind the television. Which I had added for viewing.

The staff was very professional. The room was spotless, and we could check in early to go to the beach! We also enjoyed the pool. The restaurant had incredible food.

The facilities staff were incredible in responding and correcting items discovered, but I recommend that your personnel check all of these areas and report their findings when they clean and make up the rooms. This would ensure that the customer doesn't have to waste time waiting on facilities to get to the room and repair items discovered. Items fixed were the safe and door sliding bolt. Additionally, when we arrived, the refrigerator had a broken shelf that could not be replaced which was not an issue for me.

The hotel was decent. I like the fact that there's an indoor pool and the hot tub was great. The indoor pool is also great for little kids (which we had) because it's pretty shallow. One of the upsides to being in the North end, the beach is practically empty, so that's awesome. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room stayed very cool the entire trip. The view from the ocean front rooms was really incredible. I like the attached restaurant and that they offered a breakfast buffet. I'd say for the price we paid, the hotel was good, I would stay here again.

There are some cosmetic improvements that could be made for sure. Also, it's a bit far from things. Other than the attached restaurant, there's no others or shopping in walking distance. The indoor pool option was nice, but it still closes if there's lightening. We also had some issues with the wifi being unreliable. Finally, I had an unfortunate experience in one of the elevators (first one when you walk up to them), I got to the 1st floor but the door never opened. It didn't move for a minute and then just took me all the way up to the 18th floor. The door didn't open there either, but in the way back down it opened on the 5th floor and I just got off to use a different elevator. I never used that one again for the rest of my stay.

Staff were friendly and it was an easy check in. They were kind enough to put us in a higher floor room as well to enjoy the view even more. The bed and pillows were the most comfortable I've ever slept in!! And the shower water pressure was a dream! Lots of good storage for stuff and I liked having a separate sink in the fridge/my microwave area. Quiet hotel in a great location.

The hotel just needs a good refresh- examples were the room needed TLC, old socket plate covers, scratches and scuffs on the walls, food or stains on the ceiling, little tiny dead flies on the bathroom floor when we arrived. Just little stuff, not enough to complain over during the stay, but I could see other more picky guests complaining.

Rooms were clean, and the beds were very comfortable. Loved that there were multiple pillows of different "squishyness" - hard, soft, very soft, etc. to use whatever felt right. Liked that we could control our own heat/cool setting in the room. Liked that there was breakfast (or lunch, dinner, or drinks and snacks) at the cafe in the building. And you could eat in the air conditioning, or the tables outside by the beach. Also enjoyed some time in the indoor pool and hot tub, and sitting around the outdoor pool.

More coffee pods for the room coffee maker, or else a way to refill them without asking for maid service. They ran out of parking passes but told us to park anywhere and we would not be towed, which turned out fine.

Loved the view from the 4th floor, the ease of getting on the beach, the pet-friendly/family-friendly atmosphere. The convenience & cleanliness of the dog walking area were great. We liked the calmer location away from the boardwalk crowds, and we felt very safe.

The small pool was usually very crowded, so we did not get a chance to use it...but it looked very nice & very clean. We did not appreciate finding a charge for the hotel's restaurant on our bill....we did NOT order anything from there. As of yet they have not resolved their mistake.

Concierge was incredibly helpful with giving directions and recommendations for things to do in the area, cheapest places to park and eateries. Housekeeping was great and any request or question I had was met with southern hospitality and kindness.

The only complaint I would say I had was the room coffee and coffee maker didn’t match, so it was difficult to brew a cup of coffee. So we had to buy coffee daily from the hotel restaurant, which was delicious but costly for a daily expense. Otherwise, all around great stay.
