The Royal Cancun - All Suites Resort

Nice resort with a relaxed atmosphere unlike many other Cancun resorts. The rooms are spacious and clean. The Trattoria restaurant is great! Easy access to Isla Mujeres as the Xcaret ferry is only a few minutes away from the resort.

Even if you have the all-inclusive package, the waiters expect you to tip for everything. They will ignore you and not take your order if you don't tip generously at every meal.

The Royal Cancun Resort is located approx 35min from airport. Traffic is horrible as expected. Our stay: Overall it was okay for a week... The rooms, housekeeping, staff: Rooms are extremely clean and spacious. Two balconies, one with a seating area. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom has soft fluffy towels. The villa is very large and had 2 bedrooms, so their great for couples or families. Full kitchen, two bedroom and a pull out bed. Large screen TVs on living room and master bedroom. If you get a street side room, you will hear loud music and traffic. Restaurant: The food is just okay, beware of birds that steal food and sugar off the tables, SMH. If you don't have the all inclusive package, the food portions are small. A side order was served in a condiment cup. We had breakfast package with our room only. Food was very expensive for Mexico of course. Customer Service: The front desk was very professional, friendly, and helpful. The hotel does have a very nice grocery-market store for their guests, which was great if you wanted some evening snacks or drinks. Beach, grounds & seating area: Beautiful grounds, well maintained, lot of seating areas, swim up bar, beach was okay- sea weed in water. Nice clean pools. If you walk down away from beach the it's gets abit better for swimming. There is a grocery store and more reasonably priced food outside of hotel, walking distance. Bus stop is across the street depending on your direction you wanna travel, they are cheap and get you pretty much go to the best beaches, shopping and restaurants. Visit their partner hotels, The Royal Sands and Royal Islander, free shuttle

Tips: They will ask you about time share, kindly decide. We opted out, not in Mexico to purchase anything for free trips or services... Make sure you look at your bill daily, they messed up our bill, saw charges from another person's dining room, and they charge $1 per day for charity. The charity charges can be taken off your bill.

facility is very clean. hotel beach is so beautiful and ocean is very calm even though south coast is very windy. so it is safer for kids. you can see Isla Mujeres over the ocean. Sunset is amazing !! just 5 min walking to the port of boat to Dolphin discovery. you can save your time !!

The hotel was very clean and the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The food was tasty and there was a large variety of options. The pool was clean and there were a lot of activities available.

I would have liked more music/entertainement (like the Carribean Night that was fantastic!), The concierge spent the first 2 days of our stay pushing us to attend a sales talk. We were harrassed into this talk and instead of offering us membership options and giving us some time to think about it, the salesman was harrassing us for 90 minutes in such a way that I didn't feel comfortable enrolling in the program. At the end of the talk, we did not even get to keep the information sheet he presented us and the salesman was clearly unhappy when we asked him for a couple days to think about the offer. The concierge was nowhere to be seen after that sales presentation.

We absolutely loved the hotel - the location, the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness, the rooms, the proximity to the beach and the list goes on. We were lucky enough to get a unit that is right between one of the pools, and the beach! So the front door leads to the pool, and the "balcony" door goes right to the beach, 20 feet from the nearest umbrellas and the beach bar :) It was relatively quiet - no loud music late at night, so staying there with kids was perfect. The food was FANTASTIC! Amazing variety, different cuisines every day, we loved it a lot! The whole property is really well maintained, very clean, very comfortable.

Still no idea how this works, but on the very first day we were paid a visit by someone from the hotel, who said she had to give us some "very important" information. Didn't think much of it and had her over in our unit for 15-20 minutes. Turned out she was "inviting" us to a meeting with their time sharing "specialists", only that she didn't mention the words "time sharing", and was very vague about it. When we said that if it is time sharing, we are not interested and we had an unpleasant experience before, she said that "it is different" and "we would never treat you badly". Of course it was exactly that - it was a regular time sharing sales pitch of an hour and a half, and of course once we said "no", they became very hostile. So that part left a bad aftertaste.

The food, rooms, and staff were great.

The location/beach is just ok.

Fantastic food, delicious drinks, perfect pools! We couldn’t have asked for a better week! Running and jumping off the dock to swim in the Caribbean was a real highlight. The resort is on the smaller side and quieter than most of the party hotels on the strip- but with plenty to do and wonderful staff. Hector, Odelio, Karla and Miriam at the Palapa were true standouts- always gracious and kind, with wonderful service. Thank you for a wonderful week!

The restaurant and beach staff were amazing, everyone was really helpful. Can't complain at all, the access to the beach from my room was great and the entire family loved it. The food was great and tasty!

Having to book sessions at the sister hotel (Royal Sands) only to come back to the Royal Cancun was a slight hassle. There was also no entertainment venues (Karaoke, live band) like some of the other hotels next to this one. One of the staff at the front desk was also very unhelpful - that was the only thing that really annoyed me during the stay

This is basically a family resort, lots of kids, so; lots of noise during the day. Not really a problem. It seems to be a resort that more geared for local than tourist, but I could be wrong. Bottled water is not provided they claim that they have filtering systems. I did not test this claim. This was not a vacation trip, but a business, so did not spend a great deal of time at the resort The rooms I booked were large and spacious with an ocean view.2 Bedrooms and Living room, dining area and more than adequate kitchen, including a dishwasher. From our back door we were 6 steps onto the beach. I booked this at the last minute because an additional person decided to join our group and we need the extra room, I normally stay at the Fiesta Americana.

My complaints are the location is a bit up the road from the Zona Hotelera or Tourist Zone, not a great beach for swimming. No spa at this property, but you do have access to their other locations Secondly, my party was denied free transportation back to the airport, even though this is clearly stated on their website. The reason I was giving was because I had “BOOOKED THROUGH BOOKING.COM”

High quality resort. Well organized. beautiful views. It has two lovely pools and comfortable palapas on the beach. La Trattoria restaurant is fine dining at reasonable prices. La Palapa restaurant is okay. The Royal Market has a nice selection of food if you would like to eat in, while it does not offer any fish.

I don’t think doing all-inclusive at the non-member (owner) rate is a good idea unless everyone in your party eats and drinks (alcohol) in large amounts. There are several limitations on top shelf alcohol, imported beer, and dining surcharges. You have to go off property to visit the other excellent restaurants like Hacienda Sisal and Captain’s Cove. The Royal Resorts need to disallow smoking on balconies, the pool areas and the palapa areas of the beach. It’s time. Provide a couple of smoking areas far enough away from others.
