The Villas at The Royal Cancun - All Suites Resort

We arrived at the Royal Cancun unexpectedly because our original hotel badly let us down and we had to leave it in a hurry. From the moment we booked, the Royal treated us like VIPs. We asked for their help with an early check-in. José at the front desk arranged this, and also gave us our room keys early so we could enjoy the bar and restaurants while we waited for our room to be prepared. Reynaldo helped us with our luggage and ensured we were looked after. Our suite was a large two-bedroom apartment with one bathroom and a modern kitchen. We had been told the room was "resort view" but we could clearly see the ocean from the large balcony. The beds, sofa and balcony furniture were very comfortable. The kitchen was generously stocked with all kinds of utensils, crockery and cutlery, as well as nice little touches like dishwasher salt, a packet of coffee and a few complimentary local beers in the fridge! Our cleaner was impeccable - every time we returned to the room it had been thoroughly cleaned (and they ensured that it was fumigated against pests and mosquitos before we arrived). Everyone in the resort speaks fluent English, though they were kind and patient with us when we did our best to converse in Spanish. The services on offer were amazing. We paid for sports massages in the spa villa (amazing, my back still feels great after the 11 hour flight home); borrowed towels every day to sit by the pool or beach (free); borrowed snorkels, fins and masks (free); took a kayak out in the mangrove swamps (free); parked our car in the secure car park (free). The breakfast was excellent - a generous selection of hot and cold buffet options, plus cooked food to order. It runs from 0700-1100 and was never too busy. The swim-up pool bar is great, and closes at 10pm so the whole place is very quiet at night.

Nothing. This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. I didn't like having to leave it and come home! We're already plotting our return. I can't imagine anything that could have made my stay better.

we liked everything!! we felt right at home. the buffet breakfast was delicious with local cuisine. the amenities that were offered also made out stay more enjoyable. the family centered ambiance added to the highlight of our trip. the size of the villas was more than enough for our family of 5.

The information about the themed dinner buffet was unclear as to what was included. We ended up paying for drinks and refills which would normally be including with the buffet price. I would recommend cleaning up the immediate beach water by the resort. Too much sea grass for the kids to enjoy playing in the water. we ended up moving to the resort next door which had clearer beach water.

Villa was spacey, well equipped. Beds with very good mattresses. Complimentary mini-bar.

Beach was clean, equipped with umbrellas, beds and chairs with a good service from La Palapa restaurant/bar but most of the sea-bed right from a shore was covered with grass - not very pleasure to walk on. We used the beach of the neighboring hotel (Breathless)

lovely villas with a great location. easy to get the bus into downtown cancun and walking distance to the ferry to Isla Mujeres. Charlie who does the kayak tour through the lagoon is fabulous and would thoroughly recommend doing that if possible.

pools could be quite shady and as it is predominantly a time share property you felt that you weren’t getting ven quite such good service as those who stay regularly. There was also a bit of a divide with regards to those who were all inclusive and it’s the only all inclusive I have stayed at where there was a heavy expectation to tip for every meal and bar service.

Nice beach and good view of the balcony. The suite is spacious and clean.

The air conditioner is too loud. There are extra taxes when checking out. And the staff refused to provide the receipt, which other hotels always give to me. The traffic is very heavy normally if you want to go out for other activities, unless it's early or very late.

We just loved our stay. The suite is very spacious, perfectly cleaned and maintained, and with an amazing view. The food is a whole story. We loved everything we tried. Instead of the traditional all in menu, here they have a la carte! The quality is outstanding.

The staff… Most of the waiters were not nice… That’s the only thing we found needing improvement. They really need to work with them and teach them how to talk to guets and do not make guests feel “anxious” just because they’re busy…

Spacious living space. very comfortable. Facilities were good. We were able to do many activities.

There was a cartel shootout on the beach, Playa langosta, directly on the hotel and it was very scary experience. Thankfully no one got hurt. Even with the national guard walking around, this happened. I feel like the hotel didn't really address the guests after or do anything to check-in to comfort us. We crawled on the sand and ran back to the room, then it was as if nothing happened. Even if it wasn't their fault this happened, they should have done something to check-in/comfort the guests who were there on the beach impacted by this very scary experience.

The resort layout was fantastic. The staff very friendly. Definitely better than a traditional beach side hotel. Food was great too

The beach was pretty but not the smoothest to get in and out of the water (some rocks etc). Airport transfer planning not the greatest with the resort {ie. Thomas More is not available 24x7)..., tip.. just do it yourself and don't coordinate with the resort.

Great villa size, location in Zona Hotelera, lagun without waves and weeds, food and service are excellent, every evening breathtaking sunset view and Pirate boats, bus shuttles, gym, mini market, activities, quietness of family resort, laundry services, room service, pools, booking of Parks at the reception area, garden, welcome gifts. This is the best cozy all inclusive family resort!

The only one concern was too loud party music till very late evening,even morning coming from neighbor hotel. It is not Royal Cancun to blame, but solution must be found, as we didn't sleep well few nights and there were many families with kids.

It was our first trip to Mexico and I was worrying if I picked a good hotel. Hotel was great! We stayed at a two bedroom villa which was very clean (thank you Innocencia), comfortable and spacious. You feel like you’re are at home. Kitchen has everything for cooking if you would like to cook on vacation including even blender, toaster and all necessary kitchen devices, cookware, etc. We got all inclusive package which is reasonably priced there. The food at restaurants is very good and day by day they do different styles, Mexican, Italian, Asian, etc so it’s not boring during the lengthy stay. We ate at La Palapa, and once had a dinner at Trattoria. Also couple of times we used room services and got food to the room which was great as well. All staff is attentive, fast, responsive and service is excellent there. Patricia who served food and drinks at the beach is amazing! All waiters are great, Hector, Pedro, all of them. We enjoyed very much music program that the Royal Cancun offers on some days. This hotel has very high security standards and we felt very safe there. Security guard Javier is doing a fantastic job! Our concierge Elliot went above and beyond by taking good care of us and making us feel super comfortable during all our two-week stay. All personnel is doing a great job and ready to help with anything you need. Thank you for making our stay and memories of Mexico so wonderful. We won’t hesitate to stay at this hotel again.
