MEININGER Hotel Wien Downtown Franz

The hostel is in the city very close to all the tourist attractions. The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly

In the four bed room, there was one double bed an one bunk bed. So If you are the last one arriving, you have to share your bed with a foreign person.

Excellent value for money! If you don't want to spend a lot of money on your stay, this is a great option. This was my first visit to Vienna, and Stuff assisted me in getting to the hotel as cheaply and quickly as possible. It is both close to the city center (about 20 minutes walking distance) and quiet. The room was clean, which is my top priority when staying in budget hotels.

I had an odd experience where the electric in the room was turned on with the card, just like in a regular hotel room. However, when you are staying with 5 random people who are constantly entering and exiting the room, you are unsure whether or not to place your card to turn electricity on. When I entered the room, it was dark and empty, so I inserted my card to turn on the lights and charge my phone. Then another person entered and went to the shower, and I had to leave the room. I also had to take out my card, which turned off all the lights in the room, leaving the person showering in the dark.I wouldn't want that to happen to me, but I had to leave and needed my card to open the door when I returned. I believe there should be a better solution.

I loved how much space my room had and the fact that it includes soap and hairdryer. The hotel is pretty near to the city center and it's close to a Supermarket. Also, the staff were very helpful and nice. The shared kitchen although it was small it had pretty much the utensils I needed. The room was clean and has a lot of space and big windows. They cleaned every day the room and it included towels.

The washing machine didn't work while staying there and the iced tea that I bought from them was a bit pricey. Although I liked the card key idea for the room it becomes a little uncomfortable when sharing room with others and the person who has the card key inside the holder leave the room because then all the power is off so another needs to put their card.

Lovely hostel. Staff were very friendly and nothing was a hassle when asked, very clean rooms and communal areas. Made our own breakfast in the shared kitchen but the hostels own breakfast, for a fee, looked to have plenty of choice. Supermarket next door. Travelled with children and was reasonably quiet at night apart from a few comings and goings normally around 11pm.

Is on the outskirts of town on a quiet street, about 30mins walk from St Stephens or Wein Mitte Station. The area the hostel is in is 'ok' but wouldn't fancy walking around it late at night. The communal kitchen could do with a few extra mugs and glasses. Had no toaster in the kitchen so had to use the one in the breakfast area.

Everything is so clean, very nice and definitely coming back when I visit the Vienna, hotel is literally in the centre just 15 minutes by walk and all of the important things are close. Breakfast is great maybe little expensive but there are a lot things to eat and choose from

One of the reasons we booked the hotel was because of the billiards but when we got there billiards was closed and when we asked when will it be open the stuff told us that they don't know and 1h after they let some kids play it and then they broke the table and we couldn't play it anymore.

The room, even if not excessively big, allowed a very comfortable stay. Overlooking the main street, it was equipped with a private bathroom, double bed, sofa, desk, TV, a long coat hanger and an open cabinet for storing suitcases, clothes and other objects. The cleanliness of the room and common areas was excellent, the structure was well heated. The hotel was very close to the metro and the tram stop, and located in a very quiet and well-stocked neighborhood (With 2/3 minutes of walk you can reach two supermarkets and some places where you can have some take-away food. Less than 10 minutes away on foot you can reach one of the "Ströck" stores, where it is possible to have breakfast and taste typical Viennese products.) The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

The only problem I had was with the Wi-Fi connection which didn't always have a great signal in my room and sometimes disconnected. However, partly due to my forgetfulness, partly because I had enough GB available on my phone, I never communicated this inconvenience to the staff.

Room very confortable with plenty space, bright and warm. The toilet is really usefull split in two with two mirrors and sinck also there are space for storage your chlotes etc... and a table and chairs. The bed is strong and the stairs to go up are confortable and easy to go. Room and toilet really clean even toilet in the hostel. They Keep your bags for freeIf toy need it. Tram and underground station really close.

The mattress is really unconfortable It is the only problem with the Hostel. The bed is okay but the mattress is very thin and the springs poke through

Although the rooms can be a little tiny, which is the only downside to this hotel/hostel, for the price and location, it’s actually one of the best deals out there in Vienna. It’s no wonder the place is always busy. Now let’s get to the good. I had a somewhat peculiar situation as for some reason, my name sounded like a guy’s, so I kept getting all guys allocated to my dorm- which I was, of course, very uncomfortable with as I was the only girl. So, twice, the staff made sure that my room was changed until I finally found a dorm which was more suitable. They did all these with understanding and professionalism. The dorms, like I said, are small, but this is compensated by the cleanliness. You get fresh and clean towels and the showers and toilet are actually kept separate, which is a plus! There’s a kitchen where you can store food in the fridge. There’s a breakfast lounge and also a games area. There are lots of tram and bus stops around, although the nearest U-bahn is about 8 minutes away. Overall, the ambiance is great and I’d definitely stop by again if I’m ever in Vienna!

The small dorm rooms.

This hotel fills all the basic needs but doesn't really have any wow factor. The staff friendliness also varies as the guys at night were absolutely lovely but the staff members I had there in the morning were almost rude. The breakfast was surprisingly versatile and as a vegan I found plenty options (just had to ask for the oat milk separately).

Had I stayed here 10 years ago in a dorm I think I'd been charmed about this place but the price for a private room was quite high considering the location and the amenities in the room. The location is a bit remote considering the closest metro station is 10min walk away and the city is 30min walk away by foot.
