Hotel San Marino

It's a family run hotel and we liked the calm, practised efficiency of the staff. Some people would say it's a bit dated but it has a certain charm. The dining facilities make the most of the view with a choice of inside or outside depending on the weather. We ate there each night. A pleasant swimming pool. They don't serve lunches but there is a useful eatery next door.

There is a certain amount of noise from the road immediately outside. It didn't bother us much as there is good double-glazing but one of our party found it difficult to sleep. I guess it's the price (worth paying) you choose for having the lake view. One small thing - we had wedding clothes and paraphernalia and the storage/ hanging space in the room for them was a bit limited.

we booked a lake view room and it was AMAZING the view was unbelievable for the price. the staff were friendly yet relaxed. the breakfast was delicious and the view from breakfast was beautiful. I loved the vintage feel of the hotel, there was some previous comments about the bathrooms in the reviews but I found our bathroom to be spacious and up to date

there were no dislikes for me however I love vintage and homey Italian feel for some this may not be the case. lots of stairs to get down to the lake and it is quiet noisey however I live in the city so it felt like home for me

Location is perfect at the lake, walking distance to restaurants, clean rooms, friendly staff.. good beds. Nice ro take a dip in the Pool. Price value is ok. It is a good hotel for a stay over to travel further

the shower was not so good. It was in the bathtub and to low for us, we had to bend down and it had a week stream. Further was the breakfast not very tastfull and not fresh. The bacon was not crisp, the food seemed mostly to come from the supermarket. Old bread instead bread of a bakery. No fresh Juice etc.

The staff and the hotel were lovely. The rooms were very spacious and the facilities were fantastic. The hotel was clean and the food was lovely.

It's not that I didn't like it. It's just that I thought it was on the lake side, but it wasn't. I went by the pictures, and although we could see the lake, we weren't right at the side of it. It's quite a drive into Como, and there isn't much around and about the hotel. I'm just glad we had a car.

The view from the restaurant and hotel rooms are fantastic. Breakfast is good, everything you need. This was the third time at the hotel for us. They have renovated the bathrooms. Very good. The beds is a bit to hard for us but ok to sleep in. As usual it is some noise from the road just outside the windows and this time we hade a room at the firt floor. But I think they also have changed the windows because the noise from the road was a lot less this time. In any case its quiet in night time because the traffic almost disappears. Very good parking at the hotel with video surveillance, felt safe. We didn´t use the poolarea this time. I booked 3 rooms with a view over the lake ant thought I would get the rooms with balconies at the topfloor as we got the previous time. We got one room at the topfloor and 2 at the first floor. Be sure to ask when you book if you want the small balconies. pizzaz and Gnocci good at the restaurant.

If we had got/booked the topfloor rooms it would have been a 9 or 10 considering the price.

Good view over the lake, however due to some building work at and neighbouring property large crane is present. Room was good on 3rd floor, working lift. Pool was good, breakfast was good.

Room had double glazing but some noisy motorbikes could be heard. Although it wasn't too bad and didn't really cause us any problems. Car parking was good , just enough spaces although the Hotel was full.

An amazing experience. The service was 5*. The room was cleaned everyday, breakfast was good and handy to have with the booking. Swimming pool and garden area really good. Staff very polite. Rooms are nice and cool even without air con. Would definitely stay again if I was to return to Lake Como.

The restaurant food wasn’t great very basic and flavourless.

This property was absolutely beautiful! The hotel had a beautiful Northern Italian Ambiance and the husband and wife who ran the hotel were just so, so friendly and accommodating! Me and my friend came for the weekend during the off season during our study abroad and enjoyed every minute! If you have the chance to get a room with a balcony it’s worth every penny - the view over looking como was amazing and we could’ve stared at it for hours! The town of Laglio was about 20 minutes from como and I loved the quaintness of it here !!!!! 10/10!!

Lovley hotel with a great pool which was quite quiet, the hotel was very clean, the restaurante had a decent selection of mainly Italian dishes and the staff were very helpful.

Since the hotel was very close to the main road it was quite noisy. The location is difficult to reach by public transport so it's best to get to by car.

This hotel is a great find in this very pricey region. We love hotels with a feeling of history and the Hotel San Marino has that. Run by a friendly couple, it had a personal charm many expensive hotels and AirBnBs in the area do not. And since the pandemic they had completely remodeled the bedroom and bathroom- it was very new and beautiful. One could see that they took some of the comments on the website to heart. The hallways and the main dining room still had an older look but I love this feeling of history and character, so to me it was nice. Our view was spectacular. Yes, one can hear the cars at night but this did not bother us because the view from our balcony was really great. You can also cross the busy road and walk down many stairs to the town. Not for the unsporty, but we like things like this.
