Occidental Aurelia

Breakfast was really good, but I would suggest for you to change the menu so it is not the same every day. That was the only reason why we did not purchase the breakfast for the entire stay. The personnel was excellent. This is the treasure of this place. We enjoyed that the location was not in the center and near a main street that had different cafe`s, but it would be better if the location would be about 2 km closer to the city center. It was nice that metro was a 15min walking distance :) and bus was driving right next to the hotel.

Warning! Despite the long text in this block, the stay was wonderful and I suggest this place. There were some areas that needed improvements, for example, the shower had issues with water not flowing away. Or we requested a single 2-person bed, but instead were given two single beds that had been moved together. One light bulb had expired. The walls were so thin we could hear everything that happened in the flat next to us. Overall the issues I can think of were really just minor ones, but it would be nice for a 4 star hotel to resolve such.

Thin walls....but quiet overall

The staff at the reception was friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect in my opinion: not in the very centre yet close enough to it, with excellent communication by bus (several lines). There are some trees around the hotel which make the place look healthy and relaxing. The hotel surprised me on my birthday: they brough a bottle of champagne, a cake and a greeting card to my room. It was unexpected and very nice.

The dining room and the kitchen seem understaffed: tables were cleaned slowly and occasionally there was no bread or other buffet items. Also the guy helping in the dining room was rather unfriendly.

I really enjoyed that the beds and rooms we’re comfortable. The staff was really great at making us feel taken care of.

When we first arrived we had to wait two hours to go into the room because the water wasn’t working in the area. The water was all brown and it was a little gross but they sorted out the issue right away and it wasn’t necessarily their fault because it was all the pipes in the area. This isn’t a fault of the hotel itself but it’s quite out of the way. If you’re willing to take taxis to get to the heart of rome then this is perfect because it’s price is very nice. The taxis aren’t too expensive, I recommend using the app Freenow that’s what we used, and it’s worth it so you don’t have to walk in a sketch neighborhood for dinner but can just take a nice car ride to more central areas.

The breakfast was good with a nice variety of choices. The pool was really nice, after a hot day walking around Rome. The location is a little far from Rome central city, taxi was about $ 15 euros one way, depending on where you were going. The room I had was very small, but not unusual for Rome. Very quiet room, never heard a sound at night. The staff was wonderful, always willing to help grab a taxi or schedule anything you needed.

- Comfortabel Dorelan bed and pillow. Most hotels have a soft bed and pillow, but this one was really good and we were really well rested every day - Next to a bus stop and 15 mins walk from the metro - It's quite at night - Staff is really helpful and speaks good English - Big size room and bathroom - Just a tip for travellers: if you take the subway take the exit called: "Piazza Irnerio"

- Our air conditioning broke every day and had to be reset by the staff, this was quite annoying. - The rain shower's spray should be a little stronger - Tea and coffee doesn't get a daily refill, so you have to go ask for it yourself by the bar - The smoke detector makes a lot of light at night (every ~3 seconds) which is unnecessary. I get that it's needed to make sure it works, but it was pointed towards our pillows and it was pretty bright and with fast intervals of 3 seconds. Once you close your eyes, you won't notice it anymore though.

This hotel is an old monastery and you can actually feel the history. The staff was really service minded, helpful and polite. Even if this hotel is not in the middle of the centrum, it was close enough. it was easy to go by the metro, and the bus also stopped nearby. Breakfast was good and overall we had a nice stay. And I would love to come back again.

Very clean room, great breakfast with a great choice including pastries. Good sized room. The remote of the TV was wrapped in a clear plastic bag so was being kept hygienic.

Not the most convenient location, was further away from the top sights than I thought. A 35 minute walk to the Vatican, 1 and half hour walk to the Colloseum. On the desk and on the sink in my room there appeared to be burn marks from cigarettes, which seemed to be from a long time ago as the room as such smelled fresh and was clean. Pillows too high for me but guess that's preference. The coffee at breakfast could be better.

Breakfast was good, with plenty of options. The staff were so friendly and very accommodating. Rooms were modern, clean and comfortable. The pool area was really nice and relaxing. We were grateful to have this.

I’d probably book a hotel with a balcony next time, however this is due to personal preference. This hotel is approx 15 mins drive from central Rome, which is fine but if you don’t have transport you will be paying a lot for taxis.

The staff truly made this place the best hotel experience for my family. Zahid is a true gem and deserves most of the credit. He went out of his way every day to give every guest the best service and make us all feel like family. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The hotel is so clean and is the perfect place to rest after a day of exploring. Extremely family friendly! They even had a high chair waiting for us at breakfast time.
