Grand Hotel Continental Siena - Starhotels Collezione

Perfect location within the heart of the pedestrian zone of Siena while being close to well-priced parking lot/garage (i.e., we drove, parked at a lot, and easily walked to the hotel with our luggage, then back upon our departure). The staff was super friendly and helpful, both at check-in, the bar, and the restaurant. Outstanding food (we had dinner and breakfast). Room was well catered and quiet. Highly recommended.

There was nothing to dislike! Would stay here again.

a bit noisy from the busy street (people not cars) bar is dull beyond dull valet parking works very well but 45 euros a day

Our three night stay in the hotel was trully fantastic. The hotel is first class as well its staff. Its location is superb. The hotel is really well mantained. We liked its interior; beds and pillows were confortable; we got a room with splended view over Sienna;. We wholeheartedly recommend dinner in the hotel’s restoran. Better than in tratorias and restorants in the city. Three thumbs up for the consierge and the reception staff. i thank them for all the arrangements they did for us, for explanations, for kindness! . True professonals.

The breakfast was amazing. I have never seen a buffet with so many wonderful choices. The breakfast room was beautiful and the collection of Spanish horse pictures was really special. There were fresh flowers on each table. Also, we took advantage of wine tasting in their cellar. We had 5 wines paired with small bites of food. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend this extra feature. The bar and seating area had beautiful colored glass tables - very classy. The staff was very professional. I was sorry to leave this hotel.

Nothing could have been better

It’s a beautiful hotel in the city center with fantastic rooms and very helpful personnel. Our daughter got into ski accident and has to use crutches. Staff kindly offer to book a wheelchair and we were sorted for the stay. We enjoyed our breakfast every morning. The choice was good. The room was well designed with comfortable bed, nice bathroom with bathtub and shower. The public car park is in 5 min walk from the hotel which is very convenient.

A bit tricky to find with GPS but we call to hotel and they guided us.

While “grand” in many respects, it’s also intimate and scaled nicely. it doesn’t feel tired the way some of the older hotels can feel.

The only two issues I could share is that there was significant noise coming from people partying late at night down in the streets (the windows helped, but my wife and I both heard it a few times during the night), and the room was a bit hot. we tried to use the climate controls, but the cool (freddo) setting didn’t have an effect (and we didn’t open the windows because of the sounds outside). I do want to stress that these are minor details, and that the hotel really is lovely. we will definitely come back!

Right in the middle of Siena, a two minute walk to the main square. A beautiful building, our room had stunning views over the rooftops and into the valley beyond the city walls. The breakfast was top notch and we did the wine tasting in the hotel's cellar which was a great experience.

Getting to the hotel by car is a nightmare! The hotel gives great directions if you use Google Maps but we put it into the car GPS, which brought us the wrong way into the city and its tiny side streets. The reception staff were excellent at helping us but it was a stressful start so be prepared.

Every request and need was attended to immediately. The 500 year old building located within the ancient walled city was a magnificent palace full of art and antiques that somehow was mixed with very contemporary amenities such as the glass elevator in the center. with only 51 rooms the ratio of staff to guests is probably 1:2. large bathroom, walk-in closet, outdoor balcony, comfortable bed all much less than our small room at the Rome Marriott

Concierge and check in staff extremely helpful and attentive - from walking us through how to drive to the location (despite the pedestrian zone!) as well as giving suggestions for what to see not only in Siena but in the surrounding Chianti region, including helping to make a few calls to ensure booking was possible. Room itself is nice- tall ceilings with big windows and comfy beds. Excellent bathroom and some complementary snacks. Buffet breakfast was delicious.

For how expensive the hotel is, particularly as a 5 star, probably would have expected a few additional facilities such as a gym, spa, or additional amenities. Parking is $45 euro a night which is quite expensive, but the alternative to park the car yourself is difficult. Because of COVID, you can’t eat the buffet by yourself someone needs to follow you and make your plate, which is fine but something to be aware of.

Breakfast was excellent. Wide variety of choice, both continental and cooked.

Our room had a musky smell. I suspect something had stained the carpet and it permeated throughout. We had the windows wide open so it didn’t really affect us but it would have been different it we’d been relying on aircon and therefore kept the windows closed.
