Alea Tulum

- The hotel is absolutely beautiful. We had an ocean front swim-up room and could hang out by the pool while overlooking the ocean. - The facilities/services are great: you can pick up paddle boards, kayaks, bikes and snorkel gear at no cost. - The staff are so great (shoutout to Erik and Julio!!! Erik was the funniest and Julio essentially planned all of our activities) - The breakfast was the best part. It's included with the room, includes local cuisine, is so well prepared, and so filling. I must also mention their cocktails and their dinner menu. SO yummy. - We got sick at the end of our stay (at no fault of the hotel), and had to stay one extra night. The staff were so accommodating and helpful to us. - Having a rental car is key. All the restaurants/shops were 15-20 minutes away from the hotel.

- The only downside is really just the access from the main road. While it's a beautiful beach-front property the access from the main highway entrance, particularly at night or if it has rained, is tough. We rented our own car, as otherwise getting to and from Tulum/activities would have been tough. Even with the rental car the drive in/out was a bumpy adventure.

The staff was great, very friendly and attentive. Rooms were very clean and well equipped. The onsite restaurant is very good and we thought was the best among the hotels there. The ocean front rooms are truly ocean front and allow for great sunrise views in the morning. Overall location is great if you’re looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy time away from the real world.

If you don’t have a rental car, you’re completely dependent on taxis to get into town (too far to walk). No atm nearby (again have to go into town if you need cash).

Staff very friendly. Everything is very good, the hotel is beautifully designed and built and the views are incredible. The room is gorgeous and lots of room, powerful shower, gorgeous toiletries. Everything is super well maintained, kayaks great, great dock. A wonderful place and great location. The staff work very hard. Wi-fi is super strong and fast. Very chilled and perfect to come and get away from it all. Thank you!

The fridge in room is useless and should be replaced, and the hotel lacks a little soul... Not looking for party but it felt like everyone was very quiet and lacked any kind of atmosphere..... This is really only minor as the positives far outweigh negatives.

Wow! We don’t even know where to begin to explain how amazing our stay at Alea was! The food, the ambiance, the staff! Amazing! The breakfast that’s included is phenomenal and we loved the fact that we could order it to the room whenever we were feeling lazy haha. Also HIGHLY recommend getting the swim up suite. 1000% worth it! We had such an amazing time. The hotel is like a 10-15 min drive to the center of Tulum. The only thing I would recommend is renting a car. But this is if you go to Mexico period because taxis can get expensive. Anyway, 10/10 the customer service was amazing. it’s a bit remote from main areas, and taxi fares are expensive

The quality of the food was great, the location was great as well. It was pretty quiet, and right on the beach, the rooms were clean, spacious and filled with natural light.

Leaving the area is quite inconvenient if you don't have car, it's nearly a mile to the main road from the hotel entrance, dining options are limited to the nearby hotels, and for that reason the food is a little expensive.

The stuff is very friendly, there’s a very nice view, it’s clean and there’s a very good restaurant.

It’s a little bit farther from the strip, so we hit a lot of traffic going to the restaurants.

The service and food was amazing. Complimentary breakfast was incredible and the place is tucked away and private. Stunning beach and I cannot say enough about the staff.

The only thing was the hot tub wasn’t working and some of the chaise loungers on the beach we’re a little broken. But these are small details, I would Highly recommend!

Penthouse rooftop room with plunge pool was simple but quite nice. Included breakfasts were delicious, everything on the menu was great! AC worked perfectly, mini fridge was stocked with beverages.

rooftop room balcony plunge pool was not as private as expected. Still can see through the wall into neighbor's balcony. Top floor (3rd) and no elevator made it a hike in a heat. The beach is not swimmable (uneven rocks) but they have a dock that leads to less rocky spot to swim. Definitely not a good beach for small kids.

Alea Tulum is a very special place. The staff is kind, helpful, and great at what they do. The breakfasts are outstanding and the hotel restaurant was my favorite of all the places we tried. Franciela, Pedro, and Sebastian made our stay so joyful and the cleaning staff went above and beyond. This is a quiet hotel for a relaxing vacation that prioritizes peace, comfort, and wellness.

I wish I would have known that the beach was rocky. So we couldn't really swim on the beach from the shore. But there is a dock that you can walk out onto and swim from there which was just as good.
