Best Western Dam Square Inn

Plain and simple room with a bathroom that seems to be newly refurbished. Nice location on a very narrow street with restaurants close by. Very short walks to the squares and the central train station.

We arrived on a Sunday and cars were not allowed on the street in front of the hotel so we had to walk about 50 yards with our luggage over cobble stones. Pick-up was at the door on a weekday. (revised review 6/21/22) The hotel charged way over the price quoted on booking.com. Neither the hotel nor booking.com would accept responsibility for the discrepancy and refund the difference between the actual cost and the quoted cost. Almost two months have passed and still neither will budge. I will not use either the hotel or booking.com again - both left me feeling very bitter.

Room was light and airy, big bathroom with two shower heads was lovely. Good size room. Breakfast room was nice and small, good continental breakfast - liked the fact the price was inclusive of breakfast. Helpful staff. Very good central location within 10 minutes walk of the station. Having BBC channels on TV was a bonus!

First room checked into, there was a blocked sink in the bathroom, however staff dealt with this speedily and got us a better room. Noise came in from outside due to age of windows and gaps in fitment, however only a problem on the first night. No milk containers in the room to go with free tea/coffee, but staff were happy to provide fresh milk.

the location of the property was perfect and the room was very well presented and clean. can’t fault the hotel or staff.

my only criticism of the hotel was the fact it wasn’t very sound proof , got woken up numerous times throughout the course of each night. This didn’t overly bother us just thought I would make note.

Room was clean and fully renovated. 3rd floor was away from bussy street noise. Clima worked really well. We could use cold water from the hotel bar for free as much as we needed to fill in the plastic bottles, when going hiking. Helpful stuff. Only about 500 m from Central train station, where train from the airport comes. Since all the main sightseeing points where within 2 or 2,5 km circle, we reached everything on foot (no costs for public transport). On the last day we could let our luggage in the hotel lobby for as long as we wished even after check out without extra costs.

The narrow street, where hotel is located, has shops with cannabis right beside hotel. It seems that all the customers of the shop had to try what they bought, straight away in the bars near or right on the shop window shelf. The whole street smelled after smoking cannabis all the afternoons and evenings. The hotel corridors were not renovated. The paint falls down on many places. The walls were hit many times with pieces of luggage.

The hotel is well located within the city. Room had been recently renovated and was large with seating area. Bathroom had a large walk-in shower with rainfall showerhead. Rooms clean with hot drink making facilities. Enough storage and plug sockets with addition of a safe. Lovely continental breakfast with hot drinks machine. I believe there was a pot of coffee on at all times for customers in the lobby. Staff very helpful and friendly. Bag storage for pre check in and post check out.

Hotel currently is currently being renovated which was of no concern to us, no noise or hassle. Just to be aware of ceiling tiles missing in communal areas and carpet covered in plastic.

The room was an excellent size for two friends to share and the hotel location couldn't be better, right in the heart of town and walk / tram distance to everything Amsterdam has to offer. Despite being in the heart of town, the room was dead quiet at night, for a great night sleep, and the bed was comfy. Helpful staff and a great breakfast on site made it a very comfortable stay for 7 nights.

No fridge in the room limited what food we were able to have with us without always going out. The bathroom was well-renovated and fresh, however there was no bath and the shower was a bit squishy. Still serviceable, but something we noted on our stay.

The hotel is located near Dam square, very good position; it could be reached out from Central Station by walk and you could walk to Rijks museum, Van Gogh museum, Heineken experience, Red light District and other Amsterdam attractions from the hotel. The room is clean and modern enough with furniture with nice copper accents. I recommend it for couples and for short stays.

The breakfast wasn't varied during our 3 nights stay; but it was sufficient. There is a smell not so nice once you enter into the hotel. The price was higher than the quotation given by Booking.

The room was very comfortable and clean and plenty of space and storage. It was a plus to have kettle and tea and coffemaking facilities. Breakfast plentiful and staff friendly and helpful. It’s very well located, easy walk from station and adjacent to main square and tram routes.

I would have liked a greater choice of bread/cakes at breakfast: what was available was very limited. Also no stewed fruit and minimal fresh fruit. It was great having the room cleaned every day but we would have preferred them not to replace the towels, this really isn’t necessary for a 3 night stay when there is room to hang them up and wastes resources on unnecessary laundry.

Location was perfect, concierge was charming and all staff we spoke with were personable, polite, and always ready to help. Breakfast (as a free add on) was more than sufficient and a nice way to start the day, The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the room itself was far larger than I expected.

Not the hotel's fault, but our neighbors one evening had their TV blaring until nearly 1am, then woke us up singing and running in the halls the next morning at 8am. Otherwise, no complaints.

I asked staff for help decorating the room for a graduation celebration. They actually collected my credit card information, a budget, asked what I wanted, and went out to buy the items. They went above and beyond with extra decorations and an upgrade. I was so surprised and pleased with the staff and suite. I will definitely stay here again.

Nothing. Everything about the suite, location, cleanliness, staff, and free continental breakfast was perfect. Everything was within walking distance.
